"Ouu if I gotta guess, I say we got ourselves an armoured warrior, a noble prisoner an' a druid..." Celeste blurts to the others before meandering on along with Bree. "Sounds like it could be a start of a joke..."
When they reach an area with multiple rooms and doors the woman lowers herself close to the ground. Hopefully still familiar with their tracks and scent, she sniffs out and searches to confirm which room their targets would be. When/if she'd zero in on it, she'd inform her companions.
Celeste's nose knows indeed. She sees the tracks move through this long gallery hallway and .... well. They seem to stop at the solid wall on the far side of the room.
The bare feet did seem to stop and face one of the tables in the middle of the hallway - almost as if examining something there.
Rantel leans in and looks at the table, studying the paraphernalia and ingredients. Beakers, vials and tubing are scattered across the surface, many of them covered in a dark viscous fluid - almost a black tar-like substance. He's never seen this specific approach, but it looks like something is being harvested and distilled into ..... well something.
SUMMARY AND ACTION
3 doors to the North 3 doors to the South - all partial open. Noises from the far Northern room. Footprints stop at the wall to the East.
“I have no idea what they’re making, but I don’t like it. Can we block or bar or lock all but one of the doors, so we don’t get overwhelmed? There are noises in a few of them. Maybe that secret passage can be blocked too.”Rantel whispers. He looks at the doors to see if they open out, and if there’s a way to block or bar the doors behind which they hear noises, and if they are sturdy enough to hold whoever is inside for a bit. Are the doors mostly open, or barely ajar?
He also looks closely at the place where the tracks seem to have examined something. Anything left there?
Hoghead will ready his axe and shield. "How 'bout I go into a room and you shut the door behind me in case I freak out again? I'll kill everything inside while you can keep an eye out for trouble."
Rantel nods to Bree to check things out first if she’s game to do so. He mutters to Hoghead that it’s possible they are prisoners or workers or civilians and don’t need to be murdered. But he thanks him for the offer, and lauds him for the creativity, with a turtle wink.
Celeste side eyes Z. Yeah, obvious secret door once she pointed oot what was ‘obvious’ aboot it! Pfft. Now she’ll just make him hold her Potts longer.
The druid switches from her sniffer and eyeballs, to her ears. She listens for the voices that aren’t her party members, the ones whispering in the rooms. Sure it was a low chance of them being prisoners, but just in case, she wanted to make sure they wouldn’t be releasing a wild Hog on innocents. If they were baddies, well… She shrugs to herself. Celeste could always patch Hoghead up after he’s sliced and diced some chumps. But only when they’re confirmed chumps.
Jane doesn't know much about secret doors, but the thought that they found is exciting. Seeing Rantel examine the table she moves over there and starts looking as well. "What are we looking at, anything I can help with?" Then to the group at large she says "Don't like leaving a possible trap at our backs, but I don't see a way to fight one room at a time. Unless we could tie all the doors shut with ropes through the handles going across the room or something. That might take a lot of rope though."
Bree creeps forward 8 and peers in the door with the loudest group. She sees 5 goblins gathered around a table poking and prodding at a giant rodent of some sort. The rodent is strapped spread-eagled onto a wooden bench.
The rat has horrible tumors that look woody and fruit-like and sprout from its swollen body in irregular intervals.
Celeste narrows her eyes at the rat’s deformations. It reminded her a lot of ‘Ma Toots’ magic, yet almost twisted… tainted… in some way. This made the hair on the back of her neck stand in suspicion. Her nostrils flare softly in light sniffs and her eyes seek small bits of pollen like floaties… spores.
Rat Check: 20 (+2 for Arcana or +5 for Medicine or + 5 perception)
Celestinitiative: 8

Rantel steps forward and tries to determine the nature of the substances being created or worked with on the tables.

Hoghead will ready his axe and shield. "How 'bout I go into a room and you shut the door behind me in case I freak out again? I'll kill everything inside while you can keep an eye out for trouble."
Doors are barely ajar and appear to be heavy oaken doors with iron banding.
They swing inward, so you would need to find a way to secure them from the outside (barring them wouldn't work)
Sounds are coming from several rooms.
Bree offers to creep forward and peek into the rooms

Zerxius shrugs. Looks down at the pot he is holding then tucks it into his sash. Cracks his knuckles and readies his staff. "Shall we?"
