"So Chadderlay, should we descend the same secret stairs we came up, and then head to the banquet hall and take the downward stairs there, or is there a more direct route to the catacombs?"
This is the most direct path.
There is a large hole you could use to descend to the first floor of the library directly.
As you open the door to knave the library, you hear someone moving quickly through the hallway just out of sight around the corner, the rattle and clank of his arms and armor suggest he is not a guard like the others you've met thus far. Rather than studded leather, it sounds like he wears full plate.
Angus closes the door quietly. "It sounds like a knight is coming. Chadderlay, do you want to speak to the knight? Do we want to go over the railing here in the library down to the first floor? SHould we use the skeleton as a decoy again, to lure him in?"

The door busts open, an angry Thayn knight in full plate stands at the door. He sees you. Watches you see him. He enters the li rsry and closes the door softly behind him. "Nobody leaves this room alive," he growls in Common.
Speaking in Thayan, he activates the flame of his longsword, immolating the the blade. <This counts as his BA for round 1. Nobody is surprised.>
Chadderlay casts Wall of Force and chooses to make a sphere around the Thayan Knight.
To everyone else he whispers loudly, "Quickly, this should hold him for 10 minutes. Let's hurry."

"Run thy sword across my chains, Silver Lady, that I may join your dance.”
(For no special reason I'll go ahead and cast hold monster at the guard by spending 5 sorcery points instead of a spell slot. WIS save DC 17 or be paralyzed)
Akame's normally black eyes turned red, as he called on his family's specialty, though he hoped the others were to busy to notice. This is why I work alone... Making no move, saying no incantation, his magic attacked the guard's central nervous system, trying to paralyze him.
(So, the knight is encased in an invisible force bubble... Since it's invisible, does Angus actually know the knight is trapped? Since, you know, Chadderlay just said "this should hold him" and waved his hands around. And Tetrevess left... which way? Through the door I'm assuming? or over the rail?)
Angus will shrug at the knight, say "Nice sword! Try not to suffocate in there! We're off to the market to sell all this loot!" and follow the wizard(s).
(If Chadderlay leaves the 120 foot range for the spell while maintaining concentration on it, does the wall of force disappear, or does it stay no matter how far away he is? Also, I think a flaming sword would use up his oxygen faster. Since sound waves are transmitted by air molecules physically banging into each other, is sound also blocked by the wall? Sorry, up too early, lots of strange questions)

Fouregere guard: End of turn, Wis save 7. Akame is up.
@rob88scps2:
It's 120ft to point of casting, it persists even if he moves beyond that distance. The sound waves are vibrations of the molecules, they don't actually move, but transmit as pressure changes. Assuming anybelasticity in the wall (and since the spell doesn't day anything about it) I believe sound would travel through the wall of force, though it may sound muted, as it would on the other side of a wooden door. Interesting question, though. Light is arguably a bigger problem when it says "nothing can pass through" so either as matter or energy, light is going to have a problem. But, the spell doesn't say it, so somehow, light ummmm. Redirects across? (Thinking of those csmo screens that project the image on one side out to the other to side the object inside. Good enough.)
The knight is blocking the door, he just burst in, and now there's a force wall around him, so thar path is sealed. Assumimg you dint do anything to slow or soften the descent, the fall to the first floor is 4 <apply as needed, or retcon out of it>.
The Knight speaks in Thayan and vanished from the force cage <misty step - I actually consulted the boards for this, it should work, as far as I can tell>.
Appearing on the first floor, (or wherever the target actually is) the Knight Commander attacks Tetrevess with his flame tongue longsword, gripped in both hands.
19 for 8 slashing plus 7 fire damage
16 for 8 slashing plus 7 fire damage
He shouts "attack the armored man, " in Thayan.
<I really wanted some descriptive here to identify him apart from the Thayan Knight Commander, himself, but I don't really remember anything siscring about the current armor he's wearing. I don't even know of a symbol of the Knight of Myth drannor, in canon. Maybe the city had one?>
The skeleton falls on Angus, (if literally, because he's on the 1st floor, it takes 4 bludgeoning damage; assuming he can still move,) he finds a hefty book and tries to smash it over Angus' head. 9 for 6 bludgeoning.
Chadderlay is up, then Tetrevess and Angus (swap order if you want).
If the Knight had to get down to the first floor and couldn't see down there (I would wager he could see a point less than 10ft from the first floor, but assume he can't) then he would also have to take 4 fall damage.
I'm aware that lighting the sword was a BA and so was Misty step. I could rule MS impossible this 'round' but since ce you're all just leaving anyhow, it just puts you slightly further away. If I did that, he woukd have advantage, because he would just MS into the hallway, fall into the central courtyard through the illusory wall, then find wherever you are at this point 6 seconds and 30ft later. Since nobody states their route, I'm not really sure where that is. So, as a compromise, if you want, we can say he didn't light the flametomgue (retcon) and it doesn't apply the fire damage. Ok? We can keep things moving and avoid all the 'if/then' if I know with more details what you're doing / where you're going
Edit:
The guard with the fourregere is still longer paralyzed. Akame is up.

(Sorry I didn’t have a clear picture of the map either, I assume Tetrevess would have misty stepped down to the first floor. He casts shield as a reaction to the attack, making one attack miss, but takes 15 from the second attack.

If the knight is NOT banished, Angus will command the skeleton, "grapple the knight commander", and then BA cast shield of faith on himself, and attack the knight twice with his longsword, adding divine smite to any attack that hits.
First longsword Attack: 24 Damage: 8magical slashing + 4radiantdamage
Second longsword Attack: 17 Damage: 9magical slashing + 11radiantdamage
If the knight IS banished, then Angus will move to the door of the library and look into the hall to see who else is in the vicinity.

(Is the someone approaching our position, or moving away?)
Approaching. From the right (east).
Angus closes the door quietly. "It sounds like a knight is coming. Chadderlay, do you want to speak to the knight? Do we want to go over the railing here in the library down to the first floor? SHould we use the skeleton as a decoy again, to lure him in?"

Initiative 20
Chadderlay, Angus and Tetrevess (technically in that order, but you can mix it up if you want) are up.
Outside, Akame is up.
Chadderlay casts Wall of Force and chooses to make a sphere around the Thayan Knight.
To everyone else he whispers loudly, "Quickly, this should hold him for 10 minutes. Let's hurry."
Angus, Tetrevess ...
Tetteevess nods and says “good spell”, and continues down towards the catacombs.
