Does Eric's offer extend to the newcomers (like Khessa, for example...) too?
(Just to know; probably she does not need anything)
Yes, Indeed !
Khessa then might have a crafting request of her own: can you craft a Rod for her? It costs only 10gp... I hope it can be made of metal... and if there is some broken metal weapon around in Greenest, that migh suffice as raw materials... right? It would be useful to her to have a spell focus...
Dunno if artisan blessing fits arcane focuses since I don't know if they are considered magical objects or not. The ritual is restricted to non-magical object. I would let this up to the DM to decide. If allowed, no problem.
Btw Eric could give you 10gp to buy it if you need, I think it worth the cost and it benefit all the party and it isn't much meta since Eric is chaotic good cleric...
Arcane focuses are not magical items, as far as I know, but ok to let the DM decide
It doesn't matter what DM thinks bc you already got a focus! Remember the boy you befriended? (Others: this on of Linan's kids) He wanted to give you something in return for helping. He doesn't have any money, so he just stated carving a stick. It's quite pretty and you're moved to tears. Your (sentimental) connection with this rod allows you to use it as an Arcane Focus.
(See? You downtime did have an in game effect!)
This is a wonderful idea, gratz!
When you have the time, then, I'd like to know a little more about this kid that moved Khessa to tears... At least his name and... well, just an idea of his traits, his age, how he looks like. Even just a sentence or two... Just because, after this connection, Khessa will sure feel something for him (so I'd like to know something of him).
Kriv clenches his teeth. “I would remind you that my group and I helped save Greenest just a few days ago. Before that I had been nearly killed and haunted by nightmares for weeks. My comrade died out in that courtyard for you and your people and you want to make money off me?” He leans down to stare uncomfortably close to the quartermaster’s face. “Telling the Governor of this slight will be a kindness… if you can convince me to be kind today.”
Nixi ventures a comment about their strategy, "What about some kind of diversion away from that part of the camp? Starting a fire, or an explosion or something??
Zale almost laughs, "That be exactly what we tried to begin with. The guards won't leave that cave. Maybe the explosion wasn't big enough, i don't know. But if we want to get them to leave that cave, we are going to need a huge distraction."
"Oh, they let entering the cave only the half dragons or at least, people they actually trust" Khessa is a little disappointed. "So we will have to overwhelm them instead, without letting them raise the alarm. We'd need a way to prevent them from running away or screaming... The only thing I could do, is try to roast them all at once by attacking by surprise with magic... But if someone survives, I don't know how to stop them from screaming. I don't know how to create silence by magic. Anyway, at least, for the escape we won't have mounts, but not barriers either. It's still something".
"I know" Eric shrugs. "It could be an option, we have already some available plans in mind I see... the only thing left, is seeing the situation on the field"

Ok, ok! It's a hard time for me too, you know. Just... take the Chain Shirt and keep your mouth shut, ok?
"Well," Calvin speaks up. "If we are talking about sneaking back in. I can still turn into a lizard. Nixi or Khessa could then just carry me in their pocket whilst they are disguised."

“The secret we should never let the gamemasters know is that they don't need any rules.” ― Gary Gygax
"Sure we could, Calvin" answers Khessa "but my advice would still be to jump from above, maybe during the night to be even more stealthy. If you can turn into a lizard and stay in my pocket, I would need a single spell to allow us all to descend gently from the sky. The spell works for up to five people... so if you are in my pocket, I can target myself, Nixi, Eric, Zale and Kriv and we all will land safely. Using the disguise spells, would require both me and Nixi to cast it. Plus, the others would have to disguise by themselves. And we would be seen (although disguised); descending from above, on the contrary, probably not... so in my opinion this course of action would be safer".
"Oh, by chance..." the blond arcane warrior seems to be pondering a new idea "is the cave close to the rocky sides of the plateau? Do any of us know of spells with which we can cause a landslide? If we can cause a landslide, we could stop the Cult from using eggs and riches (even if it would not allow us to recover them) without even the need to fight the guards".
"about this, I do not know" Eric says " I can dig under the mountains but I cannot make an entire mountain shaking with my hammer. We could try to find an alchemist, maybe they got some trick of theirs which could do what you think"
"Or Calvin maybe?" Khessa's blue eyes look at the druid hopefully "The fact that you can turn into a lizard suggests to me that you are comfortable with natural magic... And landslides are natural, aren't they? You think you'd be able to cause one?"
Nixi reflects, "One time I climbed a mountain and I turned around and I saw my reflection in the snow-covered hills, until the landslide brought me down..."
She blinks. "Sorry, momentary insanity there. Proceed."
Calvin thinks for a moment about Khessa's suggestion, "Nothing I can think of that would cause a landslide. I can heal and purify water and food. I can also make people quicker for about an hour. I'm also pretty good at making friends with animals, I can even talk to them. In particular, I have a fondness for lizards.
I can turn myself into a small lizard, or a bigger lizard. Not tried anything else yet though."

"Ok, let's forget about the landslide" concludes Khessa. "We will just sneak into the camp from above and see if we can hope to overcome the cavern's guards without them raising the alarm".
"If we be doin this at night. We could even try to land on top of the two guards at the mouth of the cave. Put bags over their heads so they cant scream, then tie them up. If we're gonna have to fight them anyway, we may as well try to make it easier."
"Two guards only?"is clearly surprised Khessa "You told it was 'heavily guarded'... I was imagining maybe five, maybe even more guards. If there are only a few, then, absolutely, it is worth trying to land directly on them. We could even bring some blanket, instead of bags. A blanket would be bigger, it would be easier to get it on their heads, coming from above. And it will not only make it difficult for them to scream, but also to move..."
"But I'd not recommend to tie them up" the blonde arcane warrior's expression darkens. "They could eventually free themselves... or get freed by someone. And give us trouble. Ruthless as it may sound, I'd say we kill them, even if we succeed in making them helpless".
"It do be heavily guarded, but most of the guards are inside of the cave. From what I remember there were only two directly outside of the mouth. Even if there do be more, there are enough of us to take out up to five in that way. Blanket's could work. That actually be a fabulous idea."
Zale looks a bit troubled when Khessa suggests killing them, shrugging off the feeling creeping up her spine, she reminds herself that these particular guards are probably cultists and not mercs. "You probably be right. That be the better idea."
By now it would around noon. If you leave now you'd arrive around dusk at the camp. You can leave later and it will still be dark (or you wait a lot and arrive the next day in light of day).
