It takes a while, but eventually you find a place called "the Blushing Mermaid". For you and Kriv it is very recognizable: busy, noisy, piss water for beer and wenches who will do anything for the aforementioned piss water. The others are blissfully unaware of the latter.
Khessa thanks Kriv with a dazzling smile and begins to sip the beer... only then does she realize that perhaps she thanked him too soon, but she appreciates his friend's gesture anyway, so she hides her disappointment at the poor quality of the drink and continues to laugh and chat with others.
'It almost reminds me of one of the little celebrations we sometimes used to have at Twardens...' thinks the blonde arcane warrior, with a hint of bitter nostalgia for a peaceful life and for her hometown... both irretrievably wiped out by the cruelty of the world.
Her gaze runs furtively to Eric: 'He too suffered something very similar... I wonder if he thinks about it every now and then? If sadness sometimes stalks him also and tries to bring him down? Luckily, he always seems so solid, so reliable… like the rock of the mountains he comes from… Is it due to faith?' and these thoughts also console the tall adventuress, who finds herself smiling 'At least, now, I too have something to believe in, something that gives me hope! With the help of the Harpers, of the Order, perhaps even of these wonderful adventure companions, sooner or later I will at least be able to free my family...'
In a good mood again, Khessa continues to enjoy the company of her friends until it is time to go to rest to be ready for the new day.
The dwarf tastes the beer and seems disappointed "I have started missing Frume's beer sooner than I thought" he laughs. Looking back to the arcane warrior he cannot avoid to admire the strength she acquired by his own, moved by the desire to save her family only. Looking into himself ì, by comparison, the only things that is pushing him are knowledge and vengeance, not such a nobile purpose indeed. Maybe helping people like her would give him a new purpose, a better path to walk for a cleric...
Zale's eyelid twitches as she gazes at the tavern, it only stops when Kriv clasps her shoulder. "What else did ye expect?" She puts her hands on her hips and draws herself up in mock pride.
Once inside, Zale politely declines a drink, she knows all to well that the ale in these places might as well be sewer water. Instead she pulls out her dragonchess set. "Ye do be right about that Kriv, which is why ye aught not be offended by my refusal. That stuff just don't sit well with me...but yes the atmosphere is great. Feels like home." She grins, "Now who's up for a little game?"

Khessa admires, curious, the dragonchess set: "I don't know this game... I've never seen it before! But if you explain the rules, I'll gladly try!"
"Great!" Zale exclaims. As she starts setting up the pieces, she explains the rules to Khessa.
(I'm assuming they are the same as chess? Honestly I have no idea how to actually go about playing this lol)
"Oh, a very strategic games, it seems!" exclaims Khessa, delighted, listening intently to the explanations "Must be really fascinating! Can't wait to try!"
(OOC: Well... role-playing a chess match in full could be lengthy... shall we try an INT contest? With you adding proficiency, since you know the game while Khessa is a newbie...)

(LOL! Yes... Zale is so shocked that she's not even rolling... 😉)
Khessa, used to the very little luxuries of her tiny village life, doesn't mind too much about the room: 'Well, if nothing else, if someone were trying to spy on us, they probably wouldn't come looking for sooo great adventurers like us right here.. . and if they did they'd probably wake us up by stepping on some rat or cockroach'.

Calvin follows the group to the tavern and is similarly disappointed in the taste of his drink.

"The beer is shit, but the atmosphere is why these places are great."
Kriv turns to Zeminny and holds up his ale. "To our new boss."

Well, in case we do it as an INT contest: 16
((That looks like beginners luck ;-) ))
Anyway, rooms are squalid but will only set you back 7 cp per person.

(Lol We'll go with that!)
Zale stares at the game board then looks back up at Khessa, "Ye sure ye never played before?"
(Removed 7cp)
Calvin decides to sit and watch the game of dragonchess between Zale and Khessa.
"I have never played either," he remarks.
