I'd say the fire alone would be enough to take care of the cobwebs. In combination with Thor's Eric's hammer you catch up with Kriv and Zale (even with a successful STR check it would still be difficult terrain).
With their web sense ((I know, I'm pushing it...)) the Ettercaps notice your approach. They decide a single horse isn't woth dying for. They leave the frightened animal alone and make a run for it.
"Great, friends!" Khessa pats on the shoulder whoever comes within range "The battlefield is ours! We managed to save even this last poor beast. Now let's try to calm it down for a moment and bring it back to the caravan!"
The blonde arcane warrior, while the horse is still entangled in the cobwebs, does her best to calm it down, speaking to it in a low and calm voice, petting it, offering it some grass to eat... When the animal finally seems manageable, she frees it from the cobwebs (not with fire, in order not to scare him again... she tries to remove them with brute force, trying until she succeeds).
If nothing else happens, the tall adventuress takes the horse back to its rightful owner, beaming at him: "You were lucky! We managed to get it back! Here it is, safe and sound!"
And at that point, Khessa looks around, looking for Eric with her blue eyes and approaching him; then she asks: "While the caravan is preparing to leave... perhaps we could talk for a moment about what... you know, what we were taking about earlier?"
And at that point, Khessa looks around, looking for Eric with her blue eyes and approaching him; then she asks: "While the caravan is preparing to leave... perhaps we could talk for a moment about what... you know, what we were taking about earlier?"
The dwarf flushes and mumbles "yes yes, sure" he says "we just need...to.. to make the caravan ready to start and settle a fireplace for tonight" his voice trembling a little for embarrassment.

"If we wait, we will miss the opportunity..." Khessa observes "Surely, as soon as I return, Urnpoleshurst will expect me to immediately return to his side, frightened as he is..."
"Come, it will not take long!" the blonde arcane warrior decides on impulse, trying to get the dwarf to move quickly (almost dragging him in the heat of the moment) and bringing him not far away, but at least far enough for them to be able to talk without the others hear.
"So, you..." the tall adventuress begins, clearly embarrassed, struggling to find the right words "You feel like me that... In short, you said that you don't want to lose me... And that you care... much ...about me!?"
'How is it that all of a sudden it's so difficult to compose a meaningful sentence?!' thinks the blue eyed woman, annoyed with herself 'Come on, Khessa! Don't give him the impression that you are a complete idiot!'
'No one who's known you in more than the blink of an eye would think you're an idiot, big sis!' Anator intervenes, in her mind 'And Eric surely does not... From how he behaves... From how he always tries to protect you (even though you are perhaps twice as tall as he is, equally armored and capable of using magic)... From the way he looks at you... You know? I think he has, towards you, the feelings that you hope!'
'Anator, brother of mine...' Khessa with an indescribable rush of gratitude 'you are unique!'
"Because you know..." the blonde arcane warrior then continues her conversation with Eric "I too care a lot about you! And for sure I don't want to lose you either! You know, when we are far away I always feel that something is missing... Would you believe this? I felt happier a few moments ago, as we rode to a possible fight with the ettercaps, but together, than that evening when I had to stay overnight at the inn, in comfort and safety, to be near Urnpoleshurts, while you were forced to stay outside! I... I hadn't told you anything yet, because... it happened gradually... Plus... Plus you're one of those very special people... Sturdy and bold as a hero, but also capable of caring... of loving... your calmness, your wisdom, your sensitivity... And it's certainly not just me saying it: the gods themselves have recognized you as special, giving you the power to perform miracles in their name... Not like me, who basically am just a cabbage farmer who has learned to handle a sword and to do some magic tricks... But I want to tell you that..." the blue eyes, dreamy at first, now look fixedly into the other's, as if wanting to read his very soul "No one else has ever made me feel so good by staying at my side... Sometimes I find myself thinking about how nice it would be... it would be to have you at my side forever. While I realize I wouldn't have much to offer you... once these cultists are settled, my family's attempts at liberation await... The main thing I can probably offer you, is trouble!"
'Way to go! I made him a really tempting offer!' the tall adventuress thinks to herself, laughing at her own speech 'Oh, well... at least I said it!'
(Sorry for the slow responding. I just got a new job and am trying to get settled in a new house.)
(Oh boy I missed a lot)
Sheathing her rapier, Zale makes her way back to the group to find Khessa and Eric...talking? Flirting? Whatever they were doing, she could see the sparks flying. She will never understand romance, and she can definitely not picture herself getting all gushy over anyone like Khessa is over Eric. Grimacing, she glances back at Kriv. "Hey, ye want to go find somthin to drink? I think those two be need'n some space."

Everyone is relieved when you leave the Spider Woods. The caravan pick up it's normal pace and everything seems peaceful. By day 20 the caravan passes by a castle. Built across three low hills on the southwestern edge of the High Moor, east of Trollbark Forest and just north of where the Coast Way joined the Trade Way, most of you would know this is Dragonspear.
{{Eric has much to say about Dragonspear (and others that roll a high enough History Check). But since you're on another mission there's no adventuring in the castle. So moving on}}
Day 24
It's a beautiful, sunny afternoon when a herd of deer is spotted grazing on a nearby hill. The travelers take such opportunities to hunt fresh meat for the larder. This herd, however, includes a magnificent stag that shimmers in the light as if its coat is spun from gold and its antlers plated with platinum. Nearly everyone in the caravan who can handle a bow wants to bring down that beast. Its pelt would be worth a fortune, even if it’s not real gold.
Edhelri Lewel (impatient with people but doting on her animals) warns that the creature is clearly a blessed being and that killing it would bring bad luck on the caravan, but no more than two or three people are persuaded. In minutes, the hunt is on, and the deer herd scatters into the nearby forest and through farmers’ fields.
Lewel turns to her guards Kriv and Zeminny: Please! You must protect it! Much to her surprise she is joined by Calvin's employer, Noohar Serelim. Noohar may be the most articulate person the characters have ever met. Speech springs from him like music from the harp of Milil. We should maintain a little grace while in nature's presence. It is a path of conscience we must travel. Some druids choose a contemplative lifestyle, but this one sought a more active role in the furthering of nature's cause. Pointing at Calvin he adds: Nature's servant awaits.
Kriv looks to Calvin and Zeminny. He takes off after the would-be hunters, looking for tracks and hoping to catch them before they caught the beautiful animal.
Some of the would-be hunters already lost track of the stag in the first part of the forest. Most of them scatter so Kriv tracks the stag, knowing it's what they are looking for. He has no problem following it the first 500 yards.
If other characters decide to join the chase, they'll need to make a DC 10 Survival Check for the first 500 yards.
Khessa might love Eric, but for sure she also would not like other friends be in danger alone... If she discovers what Kriv wants to do, she accompanies him, just in case something bad or unexpected happens...
"So, you..." the tall adventuress begins, clearly embarrassed, struggling to find the right words "You feel like me that... In short, you said that you don't want to lose me... And that you care... much ...about me!?"
"Yes" the dwarf looks back into the woman's eyes, his embarrassment have faded now. "I feels the same way when you are around. And I am glad to protect you" he bounds his head a little "there is more than you think in you. Someone, born as cabbage farmer, that is mastering both the magic and the way of the swords... The Gods must have imbued you with a special gifts, I am sure about this! I also know you will be the sword that will crash the dragon cult and will free your family. So, please, let me be your shield in battle!" he touches her hand gently "I'll accompany you in your quest, no matter the trouble; and once you have done I'll be there and we'll se what the Gods have in store for us!"

Khessa can hardly believe the beauty of the words she is hearing from Eric; she is almost afraid that her legs will tremble with emotion... for this (and also to make the difference in height less visible), when he touches her hand gently, she gradually switches to a sitting position, while remaining next to him.
"Oh, Eric..." the blonde arcane warrior sighs, while her blue eyes look at the dwarf as if it were the most beautiful thing in the world "I don't know if really the gods have granted me other gifts... but knowing that you will be next to me is already the most beautiful gift they have ever given me!"
"Yes, Eric..." the tall adventuress brought her face so close to his, without even realizing it "Be my shield as long as you want! In battle, I will always be your sword! And woe to anyone who dares to threaten either us or the innocent common folk of Faerûn! And when we're not in battle..."
Khessa has just finished the sentence, that she is at... Well, from afar it is certainly not possible to see the details, but it seems that Khessa... is kissing him! Plus, the action seems to go on for quite a long time…
(OOC: I'm purposefully leaving this as vague as possible because, even if I personally love these scenes, I know from experience that the same is not true for everyone... It always leaves me a little perplexed, but while the bloodiest disembowelments seem to never annoy anyone, the moments of excessive romance sometimes annoy some players. And we are here for all to have fun, without anyone feeling annoyed).
...until the blonde arcane warrior finally remembers that they are perhaps out of earshot... but not out of sight! She winces for a moment: "Oooopppsss... Sorry Eric... I didn't mean to be so conspicuous... It just happened... almost before I even knew it! And, mind you, I loved it! But I just… I forgot we had an audience. Did I do it wrong?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Eric would rather spend time with Khessa than joining the hunt. He also seems to dislike hunting something that may carry a nature's blessing. Nevertheless, if Khessa joins the hunt, he'll do it as well, although he may track down the deer without any harmful intention.
Zale purposefully does not watch this little interaction. "That they be Kriv. Eye, let's find some whisky, or if we be lucky, some Rum!" She heads off after the other dragonborn. At some point she does realize that they have somehow been roped into hunting? No protecting some sort of deer? By hunting it? Huh. Ok then...

Kriv chuckles and shakes his head before turning to Zale. “They’re drunk from love… I prefer whiskey. Drinks are on me tonight.”
