Eric takes his place close in vicinity of the two contenders "Just to ensure a fair play in this dispute" he yells and with a wide gesture of the hand he castsDetect Magic
Apart from your friends' magical items, you detect a few "pings" in the close crowd. Probably a +1 weapon or 2. But nothing on the Cultitst. She looks tough though.
"KOBOLD QUEEN!!!" Zale Roars. That was crossing the line. "Fine then! You be wantin a fight?!" In the blink of an eye, her rapier flashes into her hand. "I'll give ye a fight!"She waves her free hand at her companions, "Get back, and keep them spectators out of me way. I'm sick o this."
Initiative: 11
(Nope, no backing down for Zale.)
(Lol well the great thing about a duel is that with Rakish Audacity, Zale will always get to use a sneak attack. So long as we don't get to close to the ring of spectators.)
Zale returns the fist bump, but is stumped for a moment when Kriv mentions Eek and then walks away. She shakes her head and hisses sounding very much like a snake. There ain't no way she's dedicating this fight to a bloody kobold. She's doing this for herself and her honor!
The Cultist also draws her Shortsword. She cracks her neck with 2 swords in her hands.
Lets dance!
Initiative: 11 + 1 = 12
Looks like she's just a bit faster than you. Her blades are even faster! She tries to go for your neck with her Longsword (6 + 5 = 11 to hit), followed by a downward swing when that fails (nat 1). Frustrated she tries to stab you with the Shortsword in her other hand (7 + 5 = 12 to hit).
Zale grins wickedly, "So much for a dance little kitty." The dragonborn looks very much like a dancer as she uses her fancy footwork to avoid each blow. In fact, her motions look as if she's taunting the woman.
One hand behind her back, she points her rapier towards the cultist and strikes.
To hit: 19
Damage: 6
Sneak attack: 14
"Heheh, don't forget that you asked for this. Only a fool be playin with a serpent. Now you'll be tastin me venom!"
Zale grits her teeth when two blows connect, making her snarling grin even wider. "Oh? That be the first time I've been called that one! Hah you be a creative one ain't ya! To bad yer claws ain't as sharp as yer tongue!"
To hit: 23
Damage: 5
Sneak: 8
She snarls again and drawing her left hand from behind her back and slashing at the woman's face with her claws.
(I think I treat these like using an offhand weapon? So just take the modifier of the end? Correct me if I'm wrong...)
To hit: 21
Damage: 2
"Heh, I'll have you know. You be the first to have the honor of feeling me own claws."
Khessa is increasingly distressed by how the fight is going... Zale is injured... her opponent perhaps even worse, but it's difficult to say... Every blow could be the decisive one - and right now Zale misses the target with the rapier!
The blonde arcane warrior would like to intervene... but her only spell that doesn't have too visible effects, requires her to touch the target... No, she can't do anything without being discovered. But she readies herself to interpose and break the fight, if her friend goes down - she will not allow the opponent the time to finish her while helpless, in that case!
"Don't lose your temper, Zale!" the tall adventurer exhorts her dragonborn friend, in the meantime "It's what that *tch wants! And it's the only way she can win! Focus! One more hit, and she's yours!"
She tries to to decapitate you with a mighty swing: 9 + 5 = 14 to hit.
You see it coming and duck out of the way, she follows up with a downward strike: 8 + 5 = 13 to hit.
But the Cultist is also slowed by wounds.. Her moves are getting sloppy. In a last attempt she tries to stab you with her Shortsword: 15 + 5 = 20 to hit, doing 5 + 3 = 8 dmg
[I believe that brings you down. Make a Death Save.]
(OOC: Juts a thing we might have forgotten: Zale's claws are considered as finesse weapons? If so, in the 2 rounds she hit with claw only, she should have also dealt sneak attack damage... so the cultist would have been likely taken down by the last claw hit. Not sure about how claws work, just asking...)
However, if Zale didn't deal sneak attack damage with her claws and thus actually fell to the ground dying:
Khessa sees her friend collapse on the ground, dying, and she immediately does what she had prepared to do: intervene to prevent her from being murdered while she cannot defend herself.
After which the tall adventuress, being ready to discharge the accumulated electrical energy, places herself between the two contenders. To her beloved dwarf cleric she says: "Eric! Quick! Zale needs it!" while to the winner she says: "You won. Congratulations. Now make room and walk away".
If the winner doesn't move away, or, worse, tries to get near Zale or harm her, Khessa gives the Cultist a push, as if to push her away by force... but discharging the electric charge that she kept in store for her.
Khessa first reply is for the winner: "Indeed, no one interfered with the fight - but the fight is now over. Plus, I came at you barehanded now... Do I scare you really that much? Anyway, our friend met defeat, but not before reducing you to what you are now, barely standing - and standing only because there is no breeze blowing. One less lucky shot on one side or a more lucky one on the other, and now your fortunes would be reversed. Our friend proved her courage and value. Now she must be left alone and allowed to recover".
The blonde arcane warrior counts the coins and hands them to Bog (OOC: removed from character's currency), smiling: "Of course, Bog, you can rest assured, I usually honor my debts".
The tall adventurer turns to the winner: "If one day you ever feel like a new challenge, you'll give that honor to me, I suppose?" she raises an eyebrow.
She didn't allow my friend to recover! The Cultist yells.
There's a very tense moment, but when you give the 5gp to Bog Luck a large portion of the crowd cheers while an equal part of the crowd groans in disappointment. Money changes hands and the moment is gone. See her allies have other business the Cultist gives and staggers away, paying no heed to Khessa's words.
I should have known better than to bet against an Half-Orc named Luck. You hear Ardred Briferhew say. He slaps Bog on the back and gives him his gold befor he walks over to Khessa. He whispers in her ear: Better leave first thing tomorrow. I doubt she'll try anything tonight, but she seems like someone who holds a grudge.
Eric steps foreword, protecting Zale after her fall.
"You had your fight, now there is no reason to pursue this forward" he says to the cultist. He bows gently over Zale, casting Spare the dying he turns back to the Cultist once again " Our friend needs to rest now, your fight was fair and won't search for vengeance. But I warn you to not provoke one of us another time"
"I'll take care of her" says Eric to Khessa "meanwhile, you may thing about our next move. I don't think they'll let this things pass by without consequences, we must prepare ourself"
Eric carries Zale in a safe place and once the tumults are eased he casts Second level Healing Word healing 8 hp
"You fought well, but seems the Goodness of luck was not at our side tonight. Take some time to recover, We need to plan our next move"
(Welll....I could have used Uncanny Dodge to half that...but I understand if there's to much to retcon.)
(OOC: If you had a way to continue the fight, since you didn't have a chance to post before, in my opinion we should retcon and restart from there... because that would be right. We should actually have waited for you, instead of declaring you down in absentia.
Up to the DM, obviously, but my opinion is that it is right that Zale has the opportunity to play all her cards in this so tough fight. Especially since, if the other is really in serious difficulty, perhaps she can win automatically if she breaths next round... Depends if the other is really on her last leg or not. Anyway, if she hits one more time with the rapier she should win, given the sneak attack added damage. It is a good chance)
I agree. This can change things (not necessarily for the better). So here's what we're going to do: Zale and I are going to sort this out per PM. If the result is the same there will be no need to retcon. If it does I'll post the alternate timeline here.
Please do not advance this timeline until Zale and I have time to sort things out.

You manage to hit the cultist well with your attack and she bleeds profusely. But her movements don't seem hindered.
Die lizardlips!
Longsword 16 + 5 = 21 ti hit for 1 + 3 = 4 dmg, second strike: 7 + 5 = 12 to hit. Shortsword 11 + 5 = 16 to hit for 6 + 3 = 9 dmg.

"Heh, I'll have you know. You be the first to have the honor of feeling me own claws."
Those both hit, she's starting to look bad. But not like she's on the verge of death.
Oh! And what an honor it is, my Kobold Queen!
Longsword attack 1: 17 + 5 = 22 to hit, for 6 + 3 = 9 dmg
Longsword attack 2: 3 + 5 = 8 to hit
Shortsword attack: 15 + 5 = 20 to hit, for 1 + 3 = 4 dmg

That remark makes Zale replace her grin with a snarl, "RRRRAAA, You'll be sorry ye ever decided to mess with me you rat!"
Raper to hit: 9
In her rage, she misses...which only makes her angrier.
Claw: 25

What's the matter, my Queen? Distracted?
The Cultist spits out some blood.
Time to end your reign, Kobold Queen!

[Unfortunately Claws aren't finesse weapons: they are STR based]
I thought no one was allowed to interfer, Bog?
At that moment about a dozen Cultists draw their weapons.
Bog Luck steps forward: Enough! You had your fun! And you woman... you owe me 5gp! Bog's opened hand reaches for Khessa.
A Silence descends on the courtyard, waiting for Khessa's response.
