"Let's continue along the other passage" Khessa proposes. "The one where the dragon-rats came from".
She sends Anator flying in discovery, keeping him about 60' ahead of the party. If he notices anything unusual or suspicious he reports telepathically to the blonde arcane warrior.
Calvin in his crocodile form begins searching around.
(Investigation: 21)
Looks like Pharblex turned this area into a shrine to his distorted notions of religion. Niches in the walls are filled with carvings of frogs ranging from the size of a fist to the size of a pumpkin. Larger carvings sit on the floor. Crude renderings of frogs are scratched into the walls around the niches and colored with chalk. You recognize elements in these designs taken from the worship of both Ghaunadaur and Shar, but none of these elements are used in a canonical manner. You also see indications that Ramenos is venerated here. Ramenos is an ancient entity now believed to be in a deep slumber. As far as Calvin is aware, Ramenos was a god of one of the ancient creator races—if it was ever anything more than a legend. Judging from this chamber, whoever created this place has only the shallowest knowledge about these entities.

Anator enters a chamber that contains a mud-covered chair and reading table, a box of candles, and a wooden chest.
"There's a room with no other exits!" Khessa announces to her companions "Considering how much these Cultists love traps, we will probably have to inspect it with the utmost caution..."
The blonde arcane warrior leads the party to the doorway of the room (leaving Anator behind, in the shrine) then glances at Zale: "Shall we try to see if we spot any threats?" and she does her best to report to her dragonborn friend everything that seems suspicious to her, carefully examining the room... [[ OOC: Trying to provide Help and give Zale advantage in finding threats/traps. ]]
Khessa, while helping Zale to ascertain whether or not it is possible to examine the room safely, notices out of the corner of her eye the crocodile pointing at something with its tail or moving strangely...
'Who knows what Calvin wants to tell us...' the blonde arcane warrior thinks 'But I can't allow me to get distracted right now! Last time, that undetected acid trap was a really bad surprise...'
"We don't speak Crocodile-ish my friend" laugh the dwarf.
If Eric notices the carvings by chance his Religion roll would be 17
With that you gain the same knowledge as Calvin. You think Pharblex used pieces that he saw in religious icons that arrived in treasure shipments, but he has no understanding of their real meaning.
Zale grins at Khessa after looting SnapJaw's corpse (Cause yes, she would definitely do that lol), "Heh, Perhaps I should just start duel weildin these things. Ye wanna take a look at it? It looks magic or somethin, and I don't be knowin magics."
Whenever Khessa or a different magic user gets the chance, Zale will let them look it over.
Entering the next room, the dragonborn nods to Khessa then starts looking for traps with her help (Thank you :'D).
You know what? I'm going to be generous! The chest looks suspicious. I'll need Perception check for this one (because Investigation would mean touching it).
(Wow the dice all just hate me, guess i should have stuck with rolling on the character sheet...The original rolls for that were 15 perception and 18 investigation, but I can re-roll if you want me to. That was all with advantage from Khessa's help.)
Since Zale had asked for 'magical advice' on the found dagger and that the chest seems suspicious, Khessa begins a slow enchantment, based on esoteric chants accompanied by the tracing of esoteric glyphs in the air with Steff's Rod...

Lets go with 15 for Perception.
The chest isn't locked, but it is trapped. You notice a delicate mechanism with strings. The strings seem to connect with concealed niches in the ceiling.

"This beautiful weapon is indeed magical, my friend!" Khessa smiles at Zale "I am not able, for now, to list its exact powers, but it exudes an aura of Conjuration... a school of magic that produces objects and creatures out of thin air - and which also finds application in the spells of transportation and teleport".
"The chest, however, is not protected by spells..." the blonde arcane warrior frowns "Have you identified any other kind of threats?"
When Zale reveals what he has discovered, the tall adventurer muses aloud: "Perhaps the trap, when triggered, causes acid to drip from the niches (considering how much the Cultists of this castle seem to love acid). But there must also be a way to open the chest safely - or they wouldn't be able to use it either".
"Let me handle it my dear" says the dwarf. He poses the dagger on the ground and murmuring dwarfish prayers he creates a runic circle around it (Eric casts Identifyas ritual)

"Of course, Eric!" Khessa ceremoniously hands the magical dagger to her beloved dwarf, winking "I have no doubt that a master of the forge like you will reveal all the secrets of this weapon".
While the ritual takes its course, revealing the powers of the weapon, the blonde arcane warrior tries to think about the trap... Can she understand how it works? Is it activated by pulling the string that acts as a trigger? Or by releasing it? Or difficult to tell?

Kriv stands up from the floor. He wipes the sweat from his brow and takes a deep breath. “Where to?”

Calvin, still in his crocodile form, attempts to alert the rest of the group to these carvings of frogs. Attempting to explain their significance.

The dagger is indeed magical. (conjuration)
