"I wonder if this room has a recreational function for the Bullywugs... for example if perhaps they use it for hot mud baths..." Khessa muses aloud, while waiting for her beloved dwarf to finish the magical ritual "... or rather if those two were preparing a trap and the mud serves to hide it. We will have to proceed with caution when we cross this room".
If the DEX save is because the mud makes the passage slippery, Khessa suggests planting a piton in a wall before the mud room and securing a rope to it... so one can go down without slipping (or at least without slipping too much) .
Anyway, yes, the blonde arcane warrior asks Anator to scout ahead once more... It was an approach that has proven useful so many times... Let's say that she sends Anator out to scout ahead, first. If he arrives at the end of the passage without news, she follows (and if the party agrees she plants the piton so that she and her friends can descend holding on to the rope).
Anator notices an empty room. However warms of centipedes live in niches and alcoves lining the western wall. They seem aggressive, but Anator keeps out of range easily enough.
"Yes, but let's proceed with caution..." Khessa recommends, after having planted the piton and secured the rope "Anator says that the next room is infested with swarms of aggressive centipedes. We will probably be attacked. Let us be ready to defend ourselves".
[[ OOC: Even if we can hold on to the rope, do we still have to do the DEX save? I roll... if (as I hope) is not needed anymore just ignore it ]]
Assuming you have ropes and pitons (do you leave them "hanging" btw?) and use them for the descent you can ignore the DEX save.
Crocs are still up, it's only been 10 minutes or so.
Khessa has them (part of her starting gear)! Yes, the idea is to plant a piton in a wall, secure the rope to it and levae the rope there hanging, for now... this way, we will still have the help of the rope when we come back.
And I agree with Eric's idea of sending the crocs ahead to 'deral' with the swarms, while we descend.
Well... ok, we can roll for initiative, but if I understand well Eric's post, he wished to send the crocodiles ahead, to kill the swarms while we came down more slowly.
Eric casts Detect magic in case arcane object or traps were hidden by the mud

"Aye, ye got that right." Zale says a bit dismissively, clearly getting irritated with the amount of times she's missed her attacks recently.
Other than what your friends are carrying, there are no magical items in this room.
If you go down the steps to the west you need to make a DEX save (unless you are a croc). Is Anator scouting ahead again?

"Guess we there is just one way ahead. We need to procede carefully anyway" Eric says while he starts moving ahead
"Yes, but let's proceed with caution..." Khessa recommends, after having planted the piton and secured the rope "Anator says that the next room is infested with swarms of aggressive centipedes. We will probably be attacked. Let us be ready to defend ourselves".

Khessa's DEX save: 13
OCC: do we still have Calvin's Crocodiles? in that case we could make them opening the way and deal with the swarms.
(I don't think an hour has passed yet?)

Good to know. And your primary light source was the "Light" spell right?
Player: Any Good Alignment // DM: Lawful Evil
Yes, Khessa relies on that Cantrip
Very well. So you all make it down the steps, crocs first. Your light source doesn't bother the Centipedes and they attack as soon as they notice you.
Roll for initiative!
Init for the 2 Swarms of Centipedes: 16 + 1 = 17

Anyway, Khessa's initiative is: 11
OCC: Yep it was what Eric was saying
By the way his initiative would be 7
