"Go figure I have more experience with cabbages than with sorcerers or warlocks!" laughs Khessa "I most of the time think to myself as the simple cabbage farmer's daughter I was, rather than the improvised adventurer I am! Yes, I know I learned to babble some magical formula good enough to have something happen, but Nixi... hey, she studied for this! I hope I can become as good as she is, with time and practice... just like, with time and practice, I learned to gut someone with a blade before he can do it to me. I also, like you, have learned almost only from experience in this career I did not exactly choose".
Kriv meets Zale and Khessa at the quartermaster's. "I'm trying to be better. Khessa, you were right. I tried to take Telurion's place in the fight with Cyanwrath. I would have dishonored him be stepping in. Before that, I was blinded by the lure of the sea. It took time for me to realize the harm they did. When I tried to stop them, they are the ones who razed the place." He holds out the mace. "I'm going to protect from now on. New weapon, new outlook."
Nighthill turns to the remaining members of the party. Well, they seem to be in a hurry. Anyway, Leosin asked me to tell you that he left for Elturel. You should meet him and Ontharr Frume there. I believe he still had a reward for you. And looking at the map... looks like the Cult also went that way. Leosin bought horses and riding gear for the you to speed your journey to Elturel. The horses are being kept at the dealer’s stables until the you are ready to leave.
Zale gratefully accepts the gold, they'll have to divvy up all their findings in a bit. "I'm glad we found it for ye." She nods to Leera then looks back at Escobert, "And that be good as well." She pockets the gold and looks back at Khessa, "I don't know about you, but I think I'm going to pay the blacksmith a visit. Now that we got some gold, I think I could use some better armor. How's about we all head that way, buy whatever we need, then divide up what's left? Unless ye want to divide it up first to make sure everything's fair. Either way I'mma get me some studded leather before our next job." Nodding to Leera, Nighthill, and Escobert, she makes her way over to Regmar. (She will leave whether the others go with her or not.)
If she runs into Kriv on her way there she will say, "Hey, we are gonna be divvying up the loot pretty soon." Then gesture to his new weapon, "Whacha got there? That be an interestin design."
Then she looks to Regmar, "Got any studded leather? Mnnn, And show me whatever rapiers r daggers ye got. I may be willin to by a new one if ye got anythin better n what I have."
The Kobolds all follow you. Regmar has Studded Leather and lots of Rapiers and Daggers. Make a Perception or Investigation Check (your choice, but with disadvantage bc of exhaustion).
Eric thanks Nighthill "I guess it won't take long. I'll suppose we'll be ready to go there for tomorrow's dawn, I guess the sooner the better" Thereafter he'll go to the town's forge, the place where he meditates and prey. (DM: I need to spend 85gp of efforts to the forge for crafting my Splint armor. Am I able to do so, eventually by spending one artisan blessing? I am able to recover one use after short rest)
"I believe that everyone could do Magic Khessa. Wizards and Warlocks are just names we give because our mind are unable to catch the mysteries behind it. The so called magic is just the breath of the gods that permeates every living creature, so everyone is actually a work of magic himself, or a miracle as you also may call it. You just need to find your own way to cultivate what is already inside and around you, and I'm sure you will"
Once this job is done Eric will eventually join the other at blacksmith hall.
Calvin nods his head to Nighthill, "Elturel. What can you tell us about Elturel? I also would like to take some time to research animals in this area. Is there anyone who would be able to accompany whilst I go exploring in the nearby areas? I have heard stories of a lizard-like creature that apparently hunts in packs. If there is such an animal nearby I would like to take the opportunity to see search a beast."

“The secret we should never let the gamemasters know is that they don't need any rules.” ― Gary Gygax
Nixi will gratefully accept her share of the loot, and then search around the keep for anyone that might have a brass brazier she could borrow in order to cast the find familiar spell. If she locates the item, she will then purchase the 10gp of herbs and other material components needed, and find a secluded location for the 70 minute ritual. (Khessa is invited to watch, if she so desires).
First, she draws a pentagram on the ground in chalk, and places a white candle at each vertex. She then lights a bit of incense and places it in the brazier on the ground in the middle of the shape. She then sits cross-legged behind the brass vessel. Chanting in Draconic, she waves her wand in an intricate pattern, pointing at each of the candles in a seemingly random order over and over, while holding a raven's feather in the opposite hand. With her words, she reaches out to the plane of spirits, and beseeches them to send her a worthy companion, to serve and aid her in her quest to find her master, and to protect the innocent. Finally, she spends the remainder of the time with her eyes closed, incense smoke wafting through the room, chanting meaningless sounds over and over.
When the ritual has completed, she opens her eyes to see a jet black raven with red-rimmed eyes standing not far from her, turning its head this way and that to look at the petite gnome. She claps her hands and says, "Welcome... I shall call you... Isidore. Thank you for choosing me."
Zale laughs, "I suppose that makes sense. And I'm sure you'll be able to be as good as she is someday." At this point she would have made it to Regmar.
The dragonborn looks over the goods with tired eyes. She picks up each item individually, looking each over and mentally noting which set of studded leather is the best quality, before putting it back exactly where Regmar had set them. She does the same with each weapon, picking them up and testing the weight of each. As she does this she makes sure not to look to interested in any one of the items. Once done, she points out the three best of each type of item and asks how much he wants for each of them individually.

...
"You know, Eric?" Khessa's blue eyes stare admiringly at the dwarf cleric "Your vision of Magic is very poetic... but, at the same time, I feel that it contains profound wisdom" and she takes her spellbook out of her backpack and begins to take notes as she speaks - she absolutely wants to fix words of wisdom. "There was a fact that had prompted me to think very similarly... Do you know Steff, the little boy I went to greet as soon as we returned from our mission? He's a little boy from Greenest I had made friends with before we went to the cave... I had helped his family to rebuild something, you know... stuff like that... He really wanted to 'pay me' and he gave me this rod he had crafted for me!" the blonde arcane warrior proudly shows the rod Steff engraved for her "And you know what? Steff is not a wizard. And - apparently - this rod is not magical. Still, I manage to use it as an arcane focus! I can channel my magic with this! So there must be magic in feelings. Breath of the gods that permeates every living creature, as you said. I really agree. Thanks for making me think about this once more".

Khessa studied for a few hours with her gnome wizard friend, also managing to learn a powerful new spell (OOC: Khessa, if allowed, copies from Nixi's spellbook Magic Missile - 50gp and two hours time) and is thrilled when Nixi invites her to follow the ritual: "Do you really want to summon a familiar!? But it's incredible, Nixi! I really wished to do it too! I'll do it with you, so I won't risk making a mistake!" and she instinctively kisses her on the cheek.
When her gnome friend finds a suitable place and begins preparations, the blonde arcane warrior continually compares the notes in her spellbook with what the expert wizard is doing, occasionally pausing with an "Ah, so that's what that passage meant..." and writing additional details in her grimoire.
The only variation: the tall adventuress does not hold a raven's feather in her hand, but only her personal special arcane focus, Steff's rod. It can't replace the expensive incense that she paid for and that she's having burned, but it can combine its effect and, through the magic of feelings, call back... call back whoever she so hopes will come.
Khessa gets lost in arcane chants together with her friend, while the minutes become hours and their voices, from vibrations in the air, sublimate into vibrations in the Weave of the magic, reaching... reaching...
...Reaching for a bat? Because it is a bat which, at a certain point, completing its flight nonchalantly, as if it had always been there, leans on the left shoulder of the blonde arcane warrior, looking at her with a twinkle of intelligence in the eyes which suggests that his soul is not at all that of an ordinary animal.
"Anator!" the tall adventuress slowly reaches out to stroke it, on his head, behind his ears, along his back ... "You came! I knew you would come ..." she seems on the verge of tears.
Khessa approaches her friend: "Anator, this is Nixi, a new friend of mine, she's good and nice and she also knows a lot about magic; I already know you'll like her! It's also thanks to her that I was able to successfully complete the ritual that brought you to me! See? In fact she performed the ritual too, and summoned" she points a finger at the raven "Isidore!" After a short pause she continues: "Nixi, Isidore, this is my brother Anator(*). Or at least, the soul is his, since he was mercilessly killed, during the drow raid in which my village was razed to the ground and... and many other cruel things happened. You know, Anator died trying to protect us. And I believe that wherever he is now, he never stopped trying to do it. This spell summons a celestial spirit... And I think the spirit that was sent to me may be Anator's. He would have come, if some celestial power had proposed this to him. I think it's him".
(*) The fact that the soul of her familiar is the soul of her dead brother, is something Khessa believes - this does not mean it is true! If the DM prefers not, no problem. Khessa will still believe this - only she will be wrong.
Khessa concentrates briefly before smiling and answering Nixi: "He thanks you for your concern and says you are gentle. He still has to get used to wings and fur and all and is afraid he will have more troubles finding a girlfriend now, but he hopes that soul matters more than appearence. Plus he knows I was going to need all the help I could get, to rescue our family from that filthy bastards - he means the drow - or to keep defending other people as I started doing".
After a moment the blonde arcane warrior resumes: "Yes, Anator, yes, I was getting there" she focuses her blue eyes back on her gnome friend, assuming a partly embarassed, partly pleading expression. "He also really wants you to know that he finds you no less pretty than you are kind. I think he would really like you caressing his fur for a moment... Would you do it?" she keeps the bat on her palm, now, and brings him down at Nixi's face level.
during most his downtime Eric will work in the Greenest forges, or he'll help folks to build a new ones if it has been destroyed... For himself, Eric would like to craft a Splint or Plate armor, using his proficiency in smith tools and eventually his Artisan Blessing for creating some pieces of armor (if applicable)
((Ok, so here's what we are going to do. Splint armor costs 200 gp. RAW say that you need to "work" 8hrs to contribute 5 gp of effort. So that's 40 (work)days. Plate armor is 1500 gp, so 300 (work)days. However, I'm going to make you roll everyday you work. A good roll might bump the worth of your effort (only a nat 1 will have a negative effect). You can use your Artisan's Blessing to "create" 100 gp worth of effort. However for items worth more than 100 gp you can only pay with Artisan's Blessing for half the cost.
So Splint = 1 Artisan's Blessing + 100 gp worth of effort (160hrs could be lowerd)
Because of you friendship with the smith of the keep and your heroic deeds, the materials of the first item you create are supplied by Greenest. You don't have to finish it here, but you'll need a forge if you finish it elsewhere.
Please keep track of your effort investment in the notes of your character sheet))

See above. You can't use anymore artisan blessings, bc you already used it to pay for half the effort. Taking another (2nd) level of Exhaustion you can spent 8hrs with the blacksmith. You don't have to roll with disadvantage bc the smith will help you.
Calvin nods his head to Nighthill, "Elturel. What can you tell us about Elturel? I also would like to take some time to research animals in this area. Elturel is a large, orderly city overlooking the River Chionthar and filled with merchants, river traders, and farmers’ markets. Its most distinguishing feature is a brilliant magical light that hovers above it, illuminating it day and night. This light is painful to undead and is visible from almost every corner of Elturgard of which Elturel is the capital , appearing from afar as a star or distant sun. On horseback, you can travel the 200 miles from Greenest to Elturel in about six days. I'd suggest that you look for your lizards ont the way, the Cult already has a head start.

You're tired, very tired... you almost din't notice the little rune on a simple dagger. There are other that "look" better though. Do you take the best one? Or the one with the rune?

Occ: So I guess It will force us to postpone our journey at least of one day and is not guaranteed I’ll able to craft it. As alternative, Eric is also willing to buy a Splint armor at the local blacksmith hall and so he’ll be able to rest… how much would that cost in that case?

Nixi recoils just a bit. "Oh.. uh, sure I guess... I've never really seen a bat up close, at least not other than a battle where they were trying to bite me or something.... He won't bite me... right?"
She gingerly extends her hands and strokes Anator's head between its ears, an expression of fear and curiosity on her face.
"Of course he won't bite you!" laughs Khessa, amused by the hesitation of her gnome friend "He's my brother Anator, I told you, not a real bat!"
Said Anator, meanwhile, narrows his eyes in a blissful expression, caressed by Nixi's small and delicate fingers.
The blonde arcane varrior is delighted to see him so satisfied and slowly approaches Nixi and whispers in her ear: "Thank you, dear! See how pleased he is? And mind that usually he isn't like that, with who he meets for the first time... You know?" she can't help herself from giggling "I really think he likes you!"

Nixi smiles, "I wonder what your brother thinks of the container you have poured him into."
Kriv gives Khessa a weak smile. It’s almost certain that he is still trying to convince himself of his own words.
See above. You can't use anymore artisan blessings, bc you already used it to pay for half the effort. Taking another (2nd) level of Exhaustion you can spent 8hrs with the blacksmith. You don't have to roll with disadvantage bc the smith will help you.

For now Khessa's believes won't impact the story. But neighther Khessa nor Painted_Beyond knows for sure right now.
