"Heh. Methinks takin some o' this stuff be a far easier task then haulin them statues out o here." Zale says grabbing some of the gold. She looks a little disappointed when Khessa takes the dragon. She'd been eyeing that since entering the room. Buuut, she doesn't dwell on it. Besides, by the time her life's quest is finished, she'll be able to have one of those things crafted...but with blue scales rather than black. The thought makes her grin widen.
[[ OOC: @Rynn_Elocin: Just to clarify... Khessa doesn't want to keep the dragon for herself... but plans to sell it and share the proceeds with everyone, obviously ]]
Khessa is definitely in the room, so let's see how ready she is to react to the new threat...
Khessa has enough time to see that the wardrobe contains Rezmir’s Cult of the Dragon regalia before the trap goes off, causing vials of acid to explode. All Cult of the Dragon items in the wardrobe are ruined by acid, as are most of the furnishings and other objects in the room, including the Dragon statuette.
Khessa takes 22 acid dmg. The others can half that with a DEX save (DC 15).
[[ OOC: @DM: Just one thing: usually, area attacks don't damage the objects carried by the characters... and Khessa had already taken possession of both the Dragon statuette and the loot it was on (after having wrapped both in a sheet - see also the OOC clarification I gave to Rynn_Elocin)... so, if there are no particular reasons why things are different this time, these objects should not be damaged by the trap.
However, if you confirm that in this particular case the objects are ruined by the acid anyway, of course it will happen as you say. ]]
The trap catches Khessa unprepared and the acid hits her... but she instinctively activates her magical powers, which manage to significantly limit the damage, giving her time to roll over on the bed and get rid of the burning liquid.
The blonde arcane warrior, worried, immediately turns her blue eyes to the other friends in the room, checking who else has been splashed by the corrosive fluid.
[[ OOC: Khessa casts Absorb Elements as reaction, gaining resistance to acid damage so 22 Damage is halved to 11. 3 points are absorbed by what remains of her Arcane Ward. The remaining 8 Damage causes her to lose the 5 temporary HP she had and 3 HP to boot ]]

I specifically stated that rough handling will damage the statuette. We've got to keep some shreds of realism in the game. Being carried by a giantess, that's covered with acid, as she clumsily tries to dodge it sounds like rough handling to me. Also, my hard copy HotDQ specifically tells me to dmg the statuette when the trap triggers. You know what? I'm going to give you the chance to save some of its value. You've wrapped it nicely and in your reaction you could have had some sense to perserve it. Make a... let's make it a Sleight of Hand check.
Kriv snores quietly in the corner. His slowly shifting body eventually knocks over the Fist, which lands with a thud. Kriv snaps awake and leaps to his feet, drool still running down the side of his face. “Wha! Uh… sorry.”
Ok, let's see how this develops... Khessa's Sleight of Hand: 9
Ok, could be worse. It should still fetch you 1000-1200 gp. (About 800 voor the mini Dragon with ruby eyes and about 400 for gold and gems).
[[ OOC: @DM: Great! Thank you for wanting to adapt the adventure author's instructions to our situation ]]
"Eric!" Khessa runs to her beloved dwarf, helping him out of the room for good measure (even though probably everything bad that could have happened has already happened) "Oh, goodness, if you knew how sorry I am... I..." she tries to help him to remove the last traces of burning liquid "I didn't know... I should have..." she hugs him, then carefully checks his condition, examining him from head to toe with her blue eyes "Does it hurt a lot?"
"I'm sorry if I was so careless..." Khessa is clearly embarrassed "And sorry too, friends..." she also turns to the others "We would have done better to let just one of us in, leaving the others waiting for him out of the room".
"After this surprise, there's not much else left to take in there..." the blonde arcane warrior sighs "Shall we continue our work of cleaning the castle? We know that there is a portal in the basement and also how to activate it... but perhaps it is better to finish first to conquer this place, right?”

(Oh I know. But Zale is a pirate after all. Her initial reaction is first come first serve, even though she'll at least share part of her spoils in the end.)
(OHH THE PAIN!!!! I think Zale's going to need more time to rest after that. :'D I took the full 22 damage, plus that's a critical fail so let me know if anything else happens.)

When you pick up the statuette you notice that it's more delicate than you thought. Rough handling will damage it, reducing its value significantly.
You look into the ruby eyes and...
Nothing happens.

[[ OOC: Oh, thank goodness, I'm safe! 😉 ]]
Khessa behaves as nothing special happened and pads the statue carefully with the sheet, adding feathers from a pillow, to be more sure.
She also checks the two wardrobes then; the painted first, then the other. Something useful (or magical) inside?

Ok, so when Khessa opens the painted wardrobe... well... I need all characters in the room to make a DEX save (DC 15).
I believe Khessa, Zale and Eric are in the room for sure?

Dwarfs are not known for their reflexes, in fact Eric's save is 13
