Taking advantage of Jhaartael distraction, Lyndaran tries to cut stab the duermas in the base of his skull, putting a hand into his mouth. Fast and merciful but hopefully deadly.
(Rolled in the log:Attack 8 and 9 )
Unfortunately Lyndaran messes it up and he somehow manage to strangle his dagger into the duergar’s clothes and instead of his mouth he covers the dwarf eyes.
Kyrsa is waiting outside. She still wants to know how many people are inside, and whether or not it would be beneficial to start a distraction out here to potentially lure the goons out so that her teammates can safely get rid of the leader.
Akyan moves to take his seat, "Well, I suppose it wasn't my whole crew, I found Zeina dead in her quarters. No sign of a struggle, It looks like they killed her in her sleep. I suppose it's not much of a stretch to think another gang broke in then persuaded them to join. Either way it has me on edge."
"So it sounds like this guy's one of the higher ups. Should we still kill him? Or do you think we could use him to get into HQ?" He asks Tamryn and Kyrsa.
Startled, the hurting duergar answers testily, "What? How the hell should I know?" before he is stabbed once again (-27) The shortsword pierces a lung, preventing him from effectively screaming again, but he does push away grabbing his battleaxe. "Assassins!" he mutters, holding his side. "Who knew I was important enough for someone to pay to have me killed? Mother would be so proud..."
Tamryn thinks to Kyrsa, "There are at least two downstairs, in addition to the guy outside. They all seem pretty relaxed, wary but not expecting trouble."
To Aeric he says, "I think your theory is correct. This looks like more of a coordinated attack. Trotsky's crew were attacked as well; all dead. I think we have a mole, giving away our information. Who do you trust at HQ?"
"Alright," Kyrsa responds. "Keep me posted. I don't want to start anything out here unless we know it will benefit you two. If you think you can use him to get into HQ go ahead, but be careful. As soon as things go south end him. Better that then risk bringing the rest up there."
(OOC: Since Kyrsa is just waiting out here, can she get the benefits of a short rest?)
The rouganger stabs at the cartel thug twice, with a shortsword and a dagger. (Attack: 24 Damage: 7) (Attack: 65 Damage: 3)
Neero Initiative 10
The duergar, bleeding profusely, hacks at Lyndaran with a wobbly swing of his battleaxe.( Attack: 23 Damage: 8)
LOL attack roll of 65 that's pretty impressive! Also, a miss.
Neero is brought to the threshold of oblivion by Lyndaran's first swift strike, but the second blow glances off a metal stud in his armor. With a last rally of strength, he retaliates with a fierce cut across Lyndaran's thigh, before Jhaartael's blade sends him into the afterlife. Neero's fiddling days are over.
Kyrsa notes a male dwarf exit the building and tap the half-orc on his shoulder. The latter stands and goes inside, and the dwarf takes his place watching the alleyway.
In a shabby office above a filthy warehouse...
Before Aeric can answer, the female warrior bursts into the room, sword drawn. She looks around in confusion. "So... no assassination attempt then?" she asks.
"False alarm, Liesel,"the senior Serpent answers. "Thanks for checking on me though. Good that you remembered the Emergency phrase. This is Grignar and... what was your name?"
"Matt!" volunteers a voice from the landing outside the door. The half-orc peeks into the room. "Grignar said his name was Matt," he adds, helpfully.
Aeric smirks and says, "OK this is Grignar and Matt. They've come to tell us that station 3 has been attacked and everyone is dead, and station 9 has also had some shenanigans, with Zenia dead, and everyone else missing. And the slave shipments either never arrived or were stolen. What do you think?"
"Damn," says Liesel slowly, "I was gonna ask Zenia out sometime, she was kinda hot. Um... well, do we have any confirmation of what they've said? I'd probably detain these guys until we're sure they're telling the truth. And if they are, I'd say we all clear out and go to HQ to inform the Council of Seven that the cartel is under attack."
"I agree. Excellent reasoning. You'll make a fine leader someday," says Aeric.
"Whoa, detain them?"interrupts the half-orc. "I'll vouch for Grignar here, he's all right. We used to do collections work together over at Lefty the Loan Shark's place. Tell him, Grigs. Tell him about that time we convinced ol' Barnabus to pay us double and we kept half for ourselves."
As the duergar expires, Jhaartael looks directly into his eyes and says, "I wonder how proud your mother would be to know you traded women as slaves? I will find out when I meet her."
He then looks over the body for any useful Intel or items.
Akyan raises an eyebrow at the half-orc, "And risk giving away our tactics? Ha! I'd rather spend the night in confinement!"
"Well, not sure how well this is going. But we may need some help in a minute. That half-orc and some woman just came in here. Not sure if there's anyone else in the building. I'll keep you posted." He says to Kyrsa.
Aeric smiles grimly, "That can be arranged, 'friend'. Liesel, disarm them, and put them in the cage 'til we get this sorted out." His hand is firmly gripping the hilt of his shortsword as he watches you closely.
"Wait! Wait... c'mon Grigs, it's a funny story, just tell 'em, don't be embarrassed. Here, I'll get you started: Lefty found out about our plan and he..."begins the half-orc.
"Enough!" exclaims Aeric loudly. Looking Akyan directly in the eyes, he points at the half-orc and says, "You don't even know him, do you? What's his name? Tell me his name, and you can go free. Well?"
Before Tamryn does anything, he does a very quick mental inventory of what is on the desk, in the room, and being carried by the three rogues (He has a passive perception of 20, a passive insight of 15, and a passive investigation of 23 that touches on anything within 5ft of him). He is looking for clues regarding how the rogues feel about each other, if there is anything he can exploit to turn them against each other, embarrassing secrets. (He is trying to do a full Sherlock Holmes.)
