Akyan searches the NE office thoroughly, and discovers nothing more than the paperwork that Kyrsa found previously, some ordinary office supplies, and the previously mentioned steel safe.
He moves across the hall and tries but fails to pick the lock on the door.
Lyndaran discovers the trap and is about to ask Mina to help him disarm it but thinks twice. “This lock is real complicated and probably magical. It seems that some kind of trinket or ring must be put here in order to open it. Perhaps something the boss of this level has with him? That could be a problem. I think that it’s better to leave the trap armed until we have the meanings to open this. “ he thinks for a moment. “Perhaps we can still go down and look for the boss and try to charm him to give us the key so we can speed his job today?”
Akyan grits his teeth as he fumbles with the lock, then turns to the group. "So is it necessary to unlock this door? Or do you think we should just confront those two before the guards come back." He gestures to the SE office.
(How big is the lockbox? Could we potentially just bring the whole thing with us?)
Orc-Jhaartael moves a little closer to the SE office door and attempts to catch what is being said, while looking like he is standing guard.
Jhaartael hears two voices arguing over whether it is safe to exit the room and go and check on the office safe. They appear to be rapidly coming to the decision to do the latter.
Unsure whether he can get to his companions quickly enough, Jhaartael comes to a quick decision. He pockets the vials of oil and continues the ruse of standing as a 'cartel guard' in the room, hoping to delay the two coming back if needed.
(Looking at the map, I want to make sure that I understand the situation. We have explored the NE room beyond the double doors to the north. We have not explored any other rooms. The SE office is the office with the door facing north/south or the office with the door facing E/W? Akyan and Kyrsa are in the hallway to the north of the double doors and Lyndaryn, Mina, and, I guess, I am in the room in the NE corner of the floor. Is that accurate?)
"Sounds like we are going to either need to resort to louder measures," Kyrsa says, eyeing the bolts on the floor. "Which may or may not work. Or, we are going to have to break into that office and see if we can get ahold of the key for this chest."
She begins walking back to the double doors to go see where Jhaarteal went to as well as to check on the room where the 'chief' and the goblin went off to. As she does this she says, "I have a feeling the chief, who is still up here on this floor in the southeast office, might just be the person we need right now. I think we can handle an overweight human and a gnome, right team?"
Akyan nods to Kyrsa and puts his tools away. He'll try the door again later if necessary. Following Kyrsa, he says, "If we're lucky, we can get the jump on them. Or perhaps Jhaartael can simply charm the 'Chief', while we take care of the goblin."
"As quieter this thing goes the better, we don't want them to know that we have those papers... " whispers Lyndaran " and we still need a fire, which gives me an idea. We can burn this office, and them on it too. This way they will have no clue that we've taken the papers until it's too late.. "
As the others prepare to re-enter the common room, the door to the SE office unlocks with a 'click' and opens. A very wide man squeezes through the door, followed by a short figure in a hooded cloak. He carries a club/mace topped by an ornate carved gem. They pause as they notice Jhaartael standing at attention, and scowl.
"Who are you?" demands the large figure. "Why aren't you with the others?"
The smaller creature merely looks at the wizard, glowing eyes blinking from the darkness under his hood.
(If Jhaartael chooses to continue to impersonate a guard, I'll need a verbal response plus a Deception roll, quite likely an Initiative roll as well).
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
(Forgot to take the folder from Kyrsa) She stares at the name, but tucks it away wordlessly.
Mina looks closer at the lock, "You're right, I bet we need that chief to open this. I was hoping we could slip in and slip out, but doesn't look like it. Hey, anyone know where Jhaartael is? He still out by the stairs?" and she starts heading in that direction.

(So I have everyone except Jhaartael north of the double doors, in either the north hall or the NE office, yes?)
Yes. Jhaertael is watching the stairs.

Jhaartael, positioned by the main stairs, hears some voices coming from the door to the SE office. So far, nothing from either up- or down-stairs.

half-orc/Lyndaran follows Mina out, fortunately he hasn't put away his bow yet.

Half-orc Akyan also follows Mina out towards Jhaartael.
