Jhaartael maintains his hypnotism via eye contact with the dragonborn. Being very careful not to disturb it, he hisses between a tight smile, "She is in a trance, I can hold her as long as she can see or hear me. Disarm her and bind her, but don't hurt her unless you intend to finish her quickly."
"Alright then." Akyan says as he pulls out some rope and starts tying her up. Once done with that, he disarms her, then rips a piece of cloth from the bed sheets to gag her with.
"Wait, let's see if we can get any information out of her before we gag her," Kyrsa says, her voice low. "And...perhaps it would be better if someone were to pose as her instead of the half-orc. The people downstairs will likely expect her to return, not him." She tilts her head towards the hidden corps.
One the dragon born is subdued, Jhaartael offers his advice reluctantly, "Do we really have time for interrogation? Let us deal with the others. Then if there is still time, we can question this one." Making like a more physical mercenary in front of the captive, so as not to reveal his connection to the weave, Jhaartael cracks his knuckles and brandishes his sword, "I think I have an idea of how to deal with them."
“Should we at least knock her out before we leave? We don’t want her making any more noise.” Akyan isn’t entirely sure if Jhaartael really has a plan or if he is just saying he does in front of the prisoner.
(Yes. the "roll to hit" isn't just about whether your fist or weapon makes contact, but also about things like armor, ability to dodge out of the way, and whether you trip over your own feet. In theory, if you are swinging hard enough to 'knock someone out' then you could lose your balance, etc. Also, despite what you see in the movies, it's pretty difficult to knock someone unconscious with one punch. Anyways, you attack with advantage, and it does critical hit damage if you hit. But if the creature has more hp than you can deal in that round, it is not unconscious, and really unhappy.)
"Can't we just gag her and tie her up? I still think we should just ask her who the boss is here." Mina shrugs, this isn't really her forte, so she waits to see what the rest want to do.
(Ok thanks, that's what I figured. And yeah, movies don't tend to be super accurate with that kind of thing. ;) )
"I suppose we could do that," Akyan says. He had already tied and gagged the dragonborn, but he wasn't sure if it would keep her from making to much noise. "Perhaps we could tie her into one of these beds, keep her from being able to move around and make to much noise."
Kyrsa gives Akyan a flat look, "You don't have to be the one to do it if you don't want to. I'd volunteer but I'm not exactly the best when it comes to pretending. I just think sending someone out with a disguise would be the smartest move from here. Whoever pretends to be our friend here can just say that the half-orc is sleeping again so no one grows suspicious when neither of them exit this room again."
She looks to Jhaartael, "This is not an interrogation, she should answer our questions while she is under your control right? We just need to know some names, and perhaps where the leader is. The more information we get now, the less likely we will run into problems later. We don't know how many people we are dealing with, and I would rather not risk alerting the entire building of our presence. For all we know we could walk out that door directly into room full of enemies."
She nods to Mina, "Exactly. This is our best chance at getting the information we need. And our best chance to do it without causing a ruckus."
Jhaartael responds, carefully not to break any bond, "She won't respond... it's not mind control... just a bit of a light hypnotic trance. If you want to get info from her, I suggest tying her up and asking."
((Does Akyan have a telepathic link up with Jhaartael)).
Akyan crosses his arms and returns Kyrsa's flat look, "I could make myself look like her, but i can't make myself sound like her. So unless you have some way of putting an illusion on one of you women, I don't think that's going to be possible. We do have her here though, so if you want to ask her that, i don't see why we can't. Though un-gagging her will give her the opportunity to start screaming."
(No, not yet anyway. He won't make any links until they are about to split up. That way it maximizes the amount of time it lasts, and ensures he doesn't end up making links with two people who are either together, or with someone who is with him.)
"Fatima, who taught you about elves? We age much more slowly than you humans. I'm nearly 200 years old. Nonetheless, there is a lesson here. Age does nothing to prevent you from sometimes looking the fool in important meetings. I dare say that Gretchen's decision to come clean likely saved our hides. That was quick and well-considered, my dear friend."
Tamryn:
Fatima sputters and chokes on her food when she learns Tamryn's age. Annika reacts quickly, wrapping her arms around the girl's waist from behind, and forcefully expelling a chunk of sausage that lands in Tamryn's bowl. "200?!"she gasps, "That's... that's really... old!".
A red-skinned male tiefling soon enters. His black hair is oiled and slicked back, he has a single gold earring, and multiple gold teeth. Instead of armor he wears a buttoned-up coat that extends to his knees, over expensive-looking leather boots. He carries a darkwood walking stick, topped by a platinum handle in the shape of a dragon.
"I am Torelli," he states in a bored voice, "Lady Dannihyr's consigliere. I have some instructions for..." he glances down at a document he is carrying "... one Gretchen the dwarf, and her companion Gorondarel. I assume those to be you two." He sniffs, clearly not impressed with the looks of you. "You are to return forthwith to the Seven Serpents cartel, and inform them that their slaving caravan was attacked by raiders from the south, and that there were no survivors. You are to make your way to their headquarters, and there set fire to the building. If you are not caught you will continue to pose as loyal members of the Serpent cartel. You are to return here to me without being observed, carrying with you the thumb-rings of three Serpent capos, thumbs still attached. There is to be no mention of the noble House of Dannihyr, nor any of its subsidiary business entities or any indication that you acted for any master other than yourselves. If you are captured, you are expected to remain silent. Upon completion of these tasks to Lady Dannihyr's satisfaction, a position of influence will be offered to each of you within her employ or you may continue to operate undercover as part of the Serpent cartel, and will be handsomely rewarded for any information you bring back to us. You will operate under my supervision, of course. You have three days. If you do not wish to accept this mission, you may depart unharmed, but you are never to return to House Dannihyr nor claim any further recompense other than that which you have already received. No further debt or obligation of this House to either of you will be recognized, and you will receive no special treatment should your path and ours cross in the future. Do you understand?"
((if the dragonborn has been restrained/tied up and gagged))
Jhaartael steps to the door and motions to Akyan without saying his name aloud Infront of the prisoner, "A word please." He indicates his desire for Akyan to follow him and steps into the hallway after checking the coast to be clear.
((If the dragonborn is still not restrained))
Jhaartael will maintain the hypnosis until someone restrains and gags her. Then see above.
Kyrsa sighs, turning to Akyan, "You're using the hat to disguise yourself right? That's why I said one of us women can do it, so long as you don't mind letting one of us borrow it." She rubs her eyes, shaking her head, "If no one thinks it's necessary to question our prisoner, then by all means lets get on with it. Personally I don't like running in blind, but I also don't want to give her a chance to shout or scream by removing the gag. Then again, as soon as Jhaartael releases his hold on her, she can make as much noise as she wants unless we do something to really keep her from moving. All she has to do is make some loud thumps and it'll bring whoever's downstairs or next door in here in a moment."
She looks down at the Dragonborn, "We can always put a knife to her throat and threaten to kill her if she screams. Not sure if it will work to keep her quiet, but we might be able to get something out of her."
She watches as Jhaartael motions Akyan over, curious as to what he could be planning.
Before following Jhaartael, Akyan replies to Kyrsa, "You have to attune to this kind of item. You can't just put it on and expect it to work. I know your worried about someone coming to look for her, but at this point we might just want to focus on getting wherever we need to go, and getting out as fast as we can." After saying this, he follows Jhaartael out the door.
