((Sam has a goat and a mastiff with him. You *could* try to milk the goat, I suppose??? lol… or go to the corner store and buy some half and half like a civilized adventurer!!))
Elthana watches the newcomer and his ways around the shop. She finds it interesting how much warmer Sam was to Marzana versus Hog. She's glad Vin has found a common ground to talk to Hog with at the moment as he is obviously not a small talker. She shrugs, neither is she.
As Muir offers tea, she takes some with a nod, but as he complains about the building, she gives him a strange look, "It's pretty common for a building. Not sure why you'd expect all that? We are in town Muir, best get used to it, at least for awhile."
Turning her focus back towards the goliath, "Would you want to come into the common room? You seem a bit uncomfortable standing here."
Assuming he accepts, and after they all find a seat, she'll continue, "So, you say you make regular items magical. Can you give us an example? Is there a certain type of enchantment you perform? It's a bit hard for me to wrap my head around what you do. I know you're looking for a shop and all that, which is fine, but I would also like to know how this arrangement will benefit us."
"yeah if you show me the way I'd love to sit down, and um, lavender tea sounds... Interesting!" As the group get the Goliath into the common room to sit he tries to address Elthana's questions. It is at this point that the group would see, Hog has a bag with him, a rather large bag that clanks as he moves it.
Looking Elthana up and down he points out "so yeah I make things magic, like that ring you got there, see at one point that would've been just a regular ring, right? Then an enchanter made it grant you certain at some protections, yeah? But I can make all kinds of things, ermm pendants, rings, well I suppose any kind of jewellery with the right material or arcane value can be enchanted, weapons and armor obviously... And the enchantments I can do range from your basic abjurations like that protection, all the way to, very difficult divination or like transmutation benefits, the best thing about magic items is that anyone can use them right?
So the benefit of me being here, y'know apart from not having to see escan again, is that I could work on special items for you, especially if you come across any cool things whilst you're out adventuring, you'll also get discount on what kind sell, and also if any of you are up for it, I have experimental pieces that need testing sometimes. So I might need one of you to like fight me whilst one of us wears a new type of magic helm, or something!" The massive man smiles at the thought, and then takes a sip from the teacup which looks like a child's play thing in his hand. He blinks around the room, his eyes still leaving pinprick arcane trails whenever he moves his head.
“Telling ya, make a deck over part of the stables roof. You could have a garden and a beehive and whatever,” Sam says to Muir. “Neighbors may grumble but not for long after you set the bees on ‘em.”
Sam then turns to Hog. “What’s in the bag? You bring examples? You work in just metal items? Can you boost something already magical ir need work from scratch? What would you say is your most impressive enchantment?” Sam doesn’t rattle the questions off rapid fire, rather just fits them in to conversation as appropriate.
Elthana looks down at her ring as Hog mentions it. hmmm... She listens to the man and is intrigued. As Sam asks about what he brought she pays attention, hoping he'll pull out some examples of what he is talking about.
"What do you think of the space? Would you be staying here or did you have a place you'd return to each night? Also, do you have any questions for us?"
"yeah I brought some examples..." Hog smiles as he pops the bag on the floor in front of him, but leaves it closed for now. "Ohhh, I can work in all sorts of things, the bag itself is one of my creations, it exists in two places at once connected by a dimensional hole, in layman's terms that is... This is pretty powerful itself though it's application is only utility not combat, I think the strongest application of a magic item that I'm toying with at the moment is a helm that can grant you the ability to control weather. It's real expensive though and I can't find the right material to channels the magic so it keeps on breaking..." hog furrows his brow and goes quiet for a minute, seeming to have become distracted by his work just by speaking about it.
He's not brought back to reality until Elthana grabs his attention with her questions. "Shop looks good, big enough certainly, I was told there'd be accomodation provided, and like I said, I don't like to be too far away from the workbench and also if I move the shop here, there's gonna be expensive things everywhere, so additional questions I suppose are what kinda security you guys got here? Also if I move here would you guys be adventuring most of the time? Also if you're adventuring would you be interested in taking this bag with you so you can send items or special materials directly to me so I could make stuff out of them? Oh oh and seeing as you'll be getting discounts with me do you think you'll be putting in special request orders?" As Hog'd questions grow so too does his smile and his imagination on the possibility of being connected to adventurers.
Muir sips his tea "I believe we were going to hire security for when we were away. To be honest we don't know what the council has in store for us. The bag holds things and you can access them? Like a door? How interesting.....I would be happy to try it for you. My only question is do you like gardening?
“Wait… are you saying we could take that bag somewhere else, put stuff into it there, and you could take it out here?” Sam asks, not sure if he understood right but wondering if they could mine the hell out of the dwarf rock hill and move it that way…
Hog laughs, a deep laugh from his chest that vibrates the teacups in people's hands "gardening? No. Sorry, but it's an area of labour that could probably do with more magic items right?
...and yes Sam, you got that exactly right, one of a kind... Well, until I can make more that is! Hey is this interview going well? I feel like it's going well. Hey another question, is there normally gonna be this many animals around?" He points to Neferox and then to the two animals that Sam has wandering around and then also curiously to Gewyn's empty shoulders.
Pulling the bag open Hog takes out a staff and some bracers, and a cloak. He then begins putting them on.
“I’ve a bag that summons animals,” Sam explains. “Rather randomly so never know what I’ll get. The goat and mastiff are new. They disappear in the morning and I can summon more…”
“Neferox… Well, Vin can explain them best,” Sam adds. “But yeah, they’re permanent. So far… Gewyn, though, is just Gewyn. Heard him called a lot of things, many by myself, never heard him called an animal though…”
Sam watches as the interviewee starts putting on items and stays calm but ready. He’s unsure what this is about…
“As for the interview, fine so far I’d say. You’ve not insulted anyone but Gewyn so far, near as I can tell.”
Elthana grins as the man gets more animated as he talks about his craft. This was a man that was very interesting though and as he looks at Gewyns shoulders, she looks at her friend. In a low voice she asks, "What is he talking about? Do you? No.."and she shakes her head but also waits for an answer.
"Yes we have accommodations and we can show you those as well. And I believe we'll be out um, adventuring as you put it more often then not. At least I hope so. And yes, we would be interested in taking that bag of yours with us. How intriguing..." she trails off as she also watches to see what happens with the items he is putting on.
Hog gives a concerned look and during his preparation takes off a necklace, the pendant of the necklace is a carefully sculpted metal eye with a purple gem set into the pupil. As he removes it his eyes stop glowing and he looks to Gewyn once more, "oh erm, yeah how silly of me, I must have been uhm.. seeing things. Anyway that bag is interesting, summons random animals you say? Sounds like conjuration magic, though the only spell I can think of that could do that is summon beasts, but applying that would only summon one animal and that's also more like spirit magic, those don't look like spirits to me" his eyes siden sith interest as he finishes setting up his bracers and cloak.
Elthana stands up and walks over to the man, glancing back at Gewyn and then to Hog. "Well. Your interview was going well until you lied. What did you see? What was on Gewyn shoulders?
Vin seems impressed by the portal bag and inspects it closely. To them it sounds like he's quite skilled. He isn't sure what he would ask for except... "Could I have you appraise an item for me? It is in need of fresh enchantments to help further fortify it and I'll gladly pay for the service as well as it will give you a chance to show us your skills in action." Vin will produce his magic broom for him to check out and test his knowledge if he accepts.
When talk of animals begins the black hound gives them a look over and then Vin says "As long as you respect her and always call her Neferox and no nicknames she will not bother you and your business. She is umm... also very protective so... uhh... ask permission before entering other's rooms. She doesn't like it when folks wonder." Vin is definitely toning down Nef's terms.
"On Gewyn's...?" Sam starts to ask Elthana but then turns to Hog. "So you weren'tcalling him himself an animal?" And JUST as Sam was starting to like this one too...
"it uhh... Well there's like a, um dragonthing, but it had like butterfly wings, about this big" he stretches his arms out like an exaggerating fisherman, "but it's not here, right? Gewyn? It looked pretty comfortable, but it's like a spirit... Did you know you had a spirit resting on your shoulders Gewyn?" Hog looks embarrassed as all hell as his pale Goliath cheeks go a bit flushed red, he jumps on the chance to change the subject as Vin continues the questions.
"Neferox, right, yeah I can do that. Pleased to meet you Neferox. O can't think of any reasons why I'd need to barge into people's rooms without knocking so I'm sure we'll get along fine eh?" He says in a little more of a child-like manner as if Neferox was just any old dog. "I can certainly take a look at the broom but I can't promise to be able to fortify it in front of you, not til I've inspected it properly and I've just unattuned my special eyes, she looks like a beauty though, I can feel the arcanum within, but she does look like she's had a bad break. Flight right?"
"His name is Spyro," Gewyn says evenly, keeping eye contact as he speaks for the first time. "And he doesn't exist, so you can forget you saw him. You're clearly good at seeing things. How good are you at NOT seeing things?"
