"I should be good. I don't have my spellwoven vest but i have everything else. It'd be nice to have but i can make due without it. Come on Nef. Seems like we don't need to worry about the wolf. So no threatening them either unless we hear otherwise from our friends." With that, Vin heads into whatever situation awaits them. Nef following as usual. Unsure what they walking into.
"It's not a crime to look good while saving the world,"Gewyn says, gesturing to his own outfit. "Though I suppose throwing a high kick in that dress may break a few rules of decorum. We'll meet you back here. I might as well see if there is a song that can magically fix everything."He shrugs helplessly.
"Load..." Sam corrects himself. "The Load Stone. Makes sense if it carries the load. OK."
"See if Hog has anything that might help!" Sam then turns and calls out after Elthana, no idea if he called out in time for her to hear or not.
"I'll assume my friends will recognize this load stone," Sam replies back to Sergor. "Maybe you haven't noticed but they're the brains of the operation... Will this portal bring us right into the Akiin palace? That could be a bit awkward. And if the land is moving... Does the portal move with it? We won't be walking through into open air of anything?"
When Sergor suggests they move to a more comfortable location Sam merely shrugs. "Muir may need more comfort but as an oaf myself I'm fine hanging out here. I've got all my requireds and my four legged pals here," Sam adds as Boris and Órga lifts their heads and turn their attention to Sergor "Are notoriously light packers. They have all they need..."
As vin and Gewyn head down it isn't too long before they meet Sergor leading Sam and Muir in the opposite direction. The entire group minus Elthana are taken upstairs into a rather expensively furnished room, complete with roaring fire, though the angle at which the treasury district now lists makes sitting a little uncomfortable. Sergor rings a bell and hot tea and coffee are provided in pure white enamel cups. The service staff then make themselves scarce as sergor sits and looks to Muir expectantly, "...so, questions"
Elthana once changed and stocked with her adventuring gear is led back to this seating room to join with the others.
"the portal opened exactly where the tear was, that tear was all that was left over from the previous portal closing.. I know it was dark last time you were there and the tunnels down there are like a maze but I assure you that is where the tear was..." Sergor looks a little confused at muir
"Muir intruded upon an attempt to open the tear, and sends Griff home, the tear was the remnant power of the portal but now it seems that no effort is needed to pass. He was advised to not say anything about the year or its location... Though I think your experience is the most pressing matter,my age and that boring story aside.
You all prevented the opening of a portal in Hokum by malicious forces which intended to invade. Now, many portals seem to have opened, the lights in the sky were many and spread throughout the continent. Here, out to sea, Lyvander, Hokum, Chattel... By your best estimates what should we be doing? I should likely have info for the council seeing as they have attempted to summon me several times over the past hour..." Sergor fixes Muir a gaze pointedly not answering him before looking to the rest of the group for their thoughts.
Muir guffaws at the thought he intruded and in Muir fashion, spills the beans. "Well I wouldn't say intruded....I was checking on my friend Griff to see if he wanted to go for a walk. How was I supposed to know you were at your secret portal trying to open a rift where you traverse regularly back and forth between realms without the council knowing....As for what should be done....The truth should be firstly. I suggest telling the council the truth. It seems to me the whole council shoudl weigh in on this tragedy. As far as the other portals, I would suggest diplomatic missions. See who or what comes through, but those missions should also be ready to defend themselves if hostile creatures appear....But what can I say as an intruder to this whole process" Muir shrugs and looks at the others to chime
Sam rolls his eyes, sighs and shakes his head as Muir reveals more and more and more. They never forget, Sam thinks to himself. Except to share…
“Muir is right,” Sam says and the saying makes him shiver uncomfortably. “We should be doing truth. You should tell the council all you know of portals, their usage, and so on. Just as we have done…”
“Hopefully.” Sam adds under his breath.
“We did not so much stop a portal from opening as stop a portal from being opened. We stopped the hag from completing her damnable ritual or whatever. If you want experience it would seem you’d want to talk to Garth there… Seems to me if some magical guardian creature is at your disposal you should work with it unless you e a damn good reason not to…”
Elthana joins the group and finds it odd how they sit around and wait for Sigrid to do whatever it is she needs to do for her calculations. As she tries to settle in with the rest, she comments, "I bet you've never answered as many questions as you have over the past few days, have you Sergor?"
"Truth would be good. This affects all of Marblestead, hell all of Northmorrah. This isn't something we can keep to ourselves."
Muir turns to Elthana at hearing her mention the "wolf" "Oh Garth! Garth long ago...so long ago was a Keeper of the Woods just like Yen. A group of them became guardians in this realm and of the portals it seems. Let's see there's Garth the Great Wolf, Yen the Great Bear, Thrakk, Talbot, and others whose names I haven't learned yet. They were all keepers many man lifetimes ago." Muir tells the group straight faced as if it was common knowledge. "You all know about these portals right? While we have been in this town, you have all done research and tried to help with the portals correct?"
Vin listens and tries to catch up to the situation. He's not clear exactly what needs to be done to help. However, talk of the portal is something he's figured out a bit of. "As Sam said we didn't really stop the portal being opened. We stopped it being opened to different realm. It seems these portals can be rerouted to other worlds. I don't think there was ever any stopping it. Just changing where it would open to."
Vin looks around at all those gathered and having missed the beginning says, "I agree we need to get everyone helping right now. So, what are we looking at for options to make sure the situation doesn't get any worse? Can we get help from the otherside to stabilize things here? Am I to understand it's Griff's world? If so, don't they have a lot of things similar? Perhaps they have something to help stabilize this floating island?"
Sergor buries his head in his hands clearly frustrated and fed up. "Diplomatic and business relations with Thaeir have already been established by myself and my predecessors, the council will be informed when they need to be but for now we focus on stopping the treasury from wiping out the majority of marblestead. A new lodestone could indeed be fetched from Thaeir, and yes that is Griff's plane, it is also known as the plane of elemental air... I do not know the location of the new lodestone, as the one in current use was a gift from a djiin of that land and has been supplying the energy to elevate the treasury for the past nine hundred years, shortly after my predecessors founded this damnable city." After his tirade sergor fixes a hard state at the carpet and catches his breath
As Sam is about to answer Elthana Muir instead starts feeding information out again. As this is the only way to get information out of him, Sam obviously lets him continue.
“I’ve done as much portal research as you’ve done on how to hit things, I’d wager,” Sam replies when Muir is done.
“My understanding is not much we can do to stop the fall except get this load stone. We’ve been waiting for everyone to be ready and perhaps we now are?” Sam asks, looking around to the others, eager to escape this insane tea party.
“As for the wolf, he’s basically told me he’s a guardians to stop evil from coming through the portal but that Sergor here has been doing his best to prevent him from doing that job because… How did you put it, Sergor? The wolf is a vagrant?” Sam asks. “But I’m sure you had the best of intentions…”
Sam then quickly turns to Gewyn. “Did you know were allowed to open up trade and diplomatic relations with other worlds without advising the council? You think maybe we should do that?”
"when my predecessors first made contact there, there was no council because there was no city, boy." Sergor sneers at Sam.
Before Sam can respond, the doors crash open and Sigrid sweeps into the room, she throws a book full of numbers, calculations and symbolic observations on the table and turns to Sergor. "No arcane charging will effect the lodestone enough to slow the acceleration to non destructive speeds, there is only one way to get this island up again. Getting another".
Sergor looks to Elthana and sighs before asking Sigrid a follow up question. "...How long?"
Sigrid starts jabbering again "well taking into account the speed of descent and factoring in the curve of acceleration, it's difficult to analyse because without knowing the weight of the island as a whole I won't be able to determine its termina-" sergor interrupts with a redoubles insistence, "how long!?"
Sigrid picks her book up and looks around the room at the assembled group, "between 80 and 100 hours until the city is destroyed."
Sergor dismisses Sigrid and looks to Elthana once more.
Elthana stands up when Sigrid rushes into the room. Listening to the dire situation, she feels her stomach sink as she watches her mentor. She listens to him as he speaks into her mind.
She pauses as she watches him, considering. Then walking over to Sergor and in a very gentle voice, "I am not Nivara. I am not her and never will be, whether you want me to be or not. But one thing is for sure, I will come back."
And with an air of sadness mixed with trepidation, she follows Sam.
Muir about to open his mouth with more questions for Sergor decides instead to follow the others but not before turning back to Sergor “I’ll be back. So many questions!”

Elthana once changed and stocked with her adventuring gear is led back to this seating room to join with the others.
Muir begins, wasting no time “This portal, why didn’t we try to use this one for Griff instead of the tear?”
"Tear? See, that's my point exactly. I knew nothing about shoving Griff through a tear..." Sam interjects exasperatedly...
"the portal opened exactly where the tear was, that tear was all that was left over from the previous portal closing.. I know it was dark last time you were there and the tunnels down there are like a maze but I assure you that is where the tear was..." Sergor looks a little confused at muir
Muir embarrassed “I must have gotten myself all spun around. You’re right. Well of course you’re right.”
muir pauses allowing Gregor to answer Sam before starting up again
Unable to control himself at this point Muir asks the big question on his mind “How old are you and how long have you been the head of the treasury”
"Muir intruded upon an attempt to open the tear, and sends Griff home, the tear was the remnant power of the portal but now it seems that no effort is needed to pass.
