Sergor gently takes Elthana's arm before she can walk away and seems to think about his words, a mix of emotion on his face before he asks, "will you at least tell your mother as such before you go, she has lost too much to that place..."
Sergor stands and quiet a moment, "I'll be down in the portal room to give you some information before you go, prepare yourselves for cold." and then he solemnly steps out of the room.
As the majority of the group make their way down to the wine cellar, Sam or Muir remember where the torch sconce is to activate the secret door behind the wine rack and the group find themselves heading toward the portal room, passing several doors on the way.
V8n tries to peek in them if any doors are open. Just curious what's here and not going in them as much as just never having been here. As he walks he says "Well, it's good to know you have relationships on the otherside. Do we have allies to seek and help us find what we need more quickly?"
Vin nods to Elthana leaving and continues to try and gather as much info as he can before trying to find a loadstone... which seems likely they are going to be the group to do it. He wishes he had his jacket. He left it folded on his bed but didn't wear it because of the ceremony. He doesn't want to hold up anyone while he gets it though and he has a lot of questions.
As they pass through the wine room Sam a couple of bottles, passing one to Muir. (Will grab maybe a couple more if Vin or Gewyn seem to have backpacks or someplace else to carry?) "The man did insist we prepare ourselves for the cold," Sam offers as explanation.
Upon reaching the portal room Sam is anxious to charge through, time is ticking after all, but is reluctant to leave Elthana behind. As they wait Sam will introduce everyone to Garth and explain to them that Garth and Sergor will be working out a plan to work together to keep this side of the portal secure... Sam will also answer any question from Vin (or others) that he can, though he is a bit brief and brusque. Mostly due to wanting to be underway...
Muir watches Vin try the doors and smiles “Oh Ho Young Vin! I like where your mind is. Perhaps if they’re locked I can just throw my shoulder into it”Muir stands near Vin ignoring Nef for now
"This is Elthana's home," Sam reminds. "Perhaps we don't needlessly bust it up... For her sake if nothing else?" Sam then tucks the bottle of wine he took a bit more out of sight.
Muir nods “You are right Sam. When you are right, you are right. I sometimes get carried away with the need for answers”
once in the room with Sergor again “While we wait for Elthana to come back perhaps you could fill in a few details….what exactly is your relationship with the other side. You mention your ancestors relationship with them…could they fly too?”
Sergor walks in carrying a large chest, and stood it in front of the party. He looks to Muir one eyebrow raised, "I do not fly, I have the ability to climb surfaces with little contact to them, that is all... anyway, I assume elthana is saying goodbyes, and I have a bunch of old cloak's here." Kicking the chest it opens and reveals exactly what you'd expect. Sergor saunters over to Sam, "because you have an inability to shut your mouth I'll give you this information. When you get to the palace you will be uninvited guests. The portal has likely recently opened in their side too and there will likely be guards, Do Not Fight Them. ask for Akiin directly and say you have been sent by me, if that doesn't work swear fealty to Vox Tontritor, and they will regard you as allies. If all else fails or if you manage to **** that up, find Griff, he holds rank within Akiin's forces, he can vouch for you."
As soon as Elthana returns sergor continues, "the forces keeping you on the ground there are weird, Vin do not fly too high, and all of you take your time to think about how you move, when moving around from one surface to the next. Time also goes faster there, for every day out here, four pass by in Thaeir. That means instead of having 80 hours at Sigrids minimum estimate, until this city is destroyed, as soon as you cross this threshold, that 80 hours turns into 320, or 13 days. Akiin was the person to gift me the lodestone and so he will either have one or know where one can be acquired. Any questions?"
Elthana is about to ask more questions when Sam jumps through. She isn't going to leave him there on his own. She grabs hold of Sergor's forearm, "I'll see you soon." then jumps through herself.
Vin does not take Muir up on breaking i to rooms but does smile as he shakes his head and says "I'm just curious what's here. When else would we get a chance to check things out?"
"Ask for Akiin, we are here from Sergor. Swear we are allies of Vox Tontritor. Seek Griff is all else fails. Careful of flying too. Moving around is weird." Vin is putting on one of the cloaks as he repeats the important bits of information. After he gets the warm cloak on he secures it and looks to Nef who is still solemn but is focused on the portal and the task at hand. Vin says "No threats Nef. We need to be proper guests. They will likely point weapons at all of us so be prepared for that in a way that doesn't seem like we want a fight."
The Black hound seems uncertain about the entire thing but is ready like the rest of folks. Her natural heat more then enough to fend off any cold weather. Vin looks to Sergor and asks "They are a warrior culture, right? Any advice for dealing with them beyond asking for a name?"
After getting a reply, Vin jumps in after the others. Nef right behind him.
"Ah shoot,"Gewyn says, watching Sam jump through while he was grabbing a cloak. "He probably shouldn't be the first to speak."With that, he runs and jumps through the portal as well
Left alone in the room with Sergor and Garth, Muir waits for an answer and is handed a letter in an envelope addressed to Akiin, "I would have given it to Elthana but she was a little... Eager. Muir, Please look after her" Sergor fixes Muir with a hard state which betrays a sense of complete seriousness and outright worry.
Muir nods understanding the seriousness of the matter “I guess this isn’t a good time for more questions for either of you. If I survive this ordeal which seems unlikely given Sam has quite a head start, may I chat more with you both?”Once Muir gets an affirmative he will go through the portal
Muir gets an affirmative nod from both Sergor and Garth though he isn't sure at how promising the treasury leader is being. Taking a step forward the loxodon plummets into the portal in the basin and joins his friends.
The sensation of falling is the closest thing one could imagine to that of traversing through the portal to the air plane, wind whips around and there is no sense of up or down. Everyone's stomach feels like it has lurched up into their throats threatening to rocket from their bodies. The time spent here is uncertain with nothing to visually lock onto in the swirling slate of pale blue.
Exiting the portal is disorientating to say the least, the group is ejected upward and in the first split seconds that Vin, Gewyn and Órga are able to look around, they realise where the floor is and naturally their bodies self right gravity taking hold and pulling them down to land next to the portal. The rest of the group aren't so lucky as the 'Ground' comes hurtling towards them they continue to fall upward and land with a crash on the ceiling, (each takes 22 bludgeoning damage, somehow no one succeeded the Dex save to half it).
The room where everyone finds themselves when they eventually stand up, either on the ceiling or on the floor, seems to be made entirely of opaque crystal, carved perfectly into a cathedral like chamber which has four small columns surrounding this side of the portal. The portal itself is set into the floor in a similar fashion to the other side back in the treasury.
One Aarakocra with red plumage and one blue skinned humanoid, both dressed in similar armour to Griff's, come running into the room with weapons drawn. The blue skinned humanoid points an ornate longbow generally toward those on the ground, where as the Aarakocra leaps into the air changing his rotation mid air and landing with his feet on the ceiling to draw a weapon generally toward everyone else. The blue skinned humanoid calls out, something in a language no-one understands but seems questioning and insistent.
Muir looks down to the others and wonders what happened....He aches terribly from the fall but he's confused why he's looking down at the others. Do they see him on the ground? Or are they on the ground and he's....what madness is this he thinks. He sees the others down below with weapons drawn on them. He hopes they speak common "Hello there! I am Muir. We were sent by Sergor Hamilton to meet with Akiin. We are from his world and in fact helped your friend Griff get back here. We are friends"
The blue humanoid and the Aarakocra exchange a looks of concern and realisation before the Aarakocra on the ceiling with Muir replies, "You knowing Akiin? Knowing Griff?"
The blue humanoid lowers his weapon and looks to Vin and Gewyn on the ground, "what is your business here?"
"Bruuuurpt!" Burps Boris from next to Sam, their stomach not enjoying the roller coaster ride but, thankfully for all on the other floor, at least retaining it's contents.
"What are you all doing up there?" Sam calls down to the others as he climbs to his feet but even as he is finishing the sentence here come the armed villains of the story... Or at least the natives.
"Why are they upside down?" Sam vaguely asks the red bird man as he pats Boris on the head and then steps over to Elthana to help her to her feat. "You ok?" he asks her.
"Yes, yes... We be knowing," Sam answers distractedly. "We are here to discuss the possibility of obtaining a load stone..."
And, assuming we're not in actual combat yet... Sam will take a turn to get his Second Wind and regain 9 HP...
"Yes. I will."
She looks over to Vin, Muir and Gewyn, "I won't be long, but I must tell Mori."
and she runs out of the room.

“Find Griff,” Sam says, repeating the instructions. “Got it.”
“Everyone ready to kick some ass?”
Boris belches, Òrga yawn-roars, and Sam is stepping to the portal. “Party on, Garth!” Sam says in farewell and steps through.
Muir shakes his head saying to Sergor “I fear the worst…When you step through is that all you do? Is there no paper or emblem of cooperation?”
Elthana is about to ask more questions when Sam jumps through. She isn't going to leave him there on his own. She grabs hold of Sergor's forearm, "I'll see you soon." then jumps through herself.
