Krav raises his eyebrows when Yellow tells him to stay on the barge, but does as she asks.
Now, having seen the 3rd hag that is attempting to hide, he scans the surrounding area from the barge, just in case anything else is planning to sneak up on them.
Yellow nods at the woman. "Please excuse our hesitancy to stop. As you know, this jungle is a dangerous place, and even more so as of late with the outbreak of undead." She looks at Kaslo and Solis. "Why don't you see if you can help the other." She looks back at the woman. "Your other sister is unharmed? She was able to 'take care' of the crocodiles?"
The "Old Woman" nods towards the otherside of the river in the direction of the jungle. "She ran that way. I'm not sure if she is hurt now but she wasn't when she lured them away. As if she can handle two on her own. I'm sure she can. The only reason why Mable is hurt is because our canoe was tipped over and we weren't prepared for the encounter."
"Lucky you all lived then." Solis responds to the crone with a smile. At Yellow's request, he nods and moves to the injured woman, kneeling by her side. With an incantation, he touches the woman to stabilize her with spare the dying.
The canoe has a large hole in the center of it where the crocodiles smashed through the bottom. With a little work and the right tools it could be fixed but would take a while.
When Solis heals the dying woman the last hag comes out of the woods and raises her hands in the general "peace" sign and swims over to her sister. "The one crocdile got away but vengeance was done to the other."
This hag is a little taller then the others and looks to be a little older. Her speech is raspy and there is a strong smell of decay around her. She turns towards Solis. "Thank you for sparing my sister. She owes you a life debt that I will pay now. What is it you wish?"
Yellow looks over at the third hag and then walks over to the barge. "Do any of you have any experience mending boats? Their canoe has quite a hole in it."
Is there room in the barge for three more (two standing and one lying down)?
"No problem!" Solis replies to the older hag with a smile, "But my friend here deserves the credit," he says indicating Yellow, "it was her decision to stop here, we were short on time for our own business."
Upon hearing Yellow's comments on the hole in the boat, Solis examines it and attempts to fix it with mending.
The hags cackle with delight at the sight of their canoe being fixed.
"You are indeed mighty heros and deserve to be well rewarded." The older sister says as she reaches into a bag and pulls out a spyglass. It is about a foot and a half long and in perfect condition. It is made out of some dark brown metal and is inlaid with gold and pearl. It looks to be very expensive.
"This should cover our debt unless you wish anything else?"The older sister says as she hands the spyglass to Solis.
Doesn't matter now but the barge wouldn't fit three more people. maybe 1. It fits 10 in total.
Yellow looks back at the old ladies. "We must be on our way. Ubtao watch over you." She looks at Solis and Kaslo and jerks her head toward the barge. Walking that way herself, she looks up at Kvothe and makes a circular motion above her head with one paw. She leads a few to push the barge off the mud bar and then jump in to continue down the river. After they travel about 50 feet away from the island, she gets Kvothe's attention and motions for him to return to the barge.
Ypu spend the next few days traveling without any problems and in the distance you can finally see Port Nyanzaru. Eku leads the barge close to Old City and pulls it ashore.
"Welcome to Old City" Eku says with a smile.
Old City
Three ancient, vine-covered ziggurats tower above this crumbling ward. The whole district is a juxtaposition of ancient and decaying stone structures interspersed with flimsy new huts and longhouses of bamboo and thatch.
The Old City is run by “beggar princes” in a mocking parallel to the merchant princes of the city proper. They have no official authority, but each of them sits atop a web of debts, favors, incriminating information, and loyal muscle that allows them to get things done with an efficiency that the merchant princes sometimes envy. Unlike the merchant princes, whose positions are based on wealth that passes from generation to generation in the same family, the identities and even the number of the beggar princes changes continually.
The Old City is run down but it isn’t a slum or a haven for thieves. Most of the residents are lower-class laborers or struggling artisans who can’t afford the higher rents of homes inside the city walls.
The Beggars’ Palaces are the two largest ziggurats of the Old City. Shops and tenements of bamboo are jammed onto the terraces of the ziggurats in wild profusion.
The road through the Old City splits around a rectangular, stone-lined pit 15 feet deep, 50 feet wide, and 200 feet long. The original Amnian residents built it as an arena for a highly competitive ball game, and it still provides cheap entertainment for the locals. Velociraptors, panthers, or other hungry beasts (a juvenile allosaurus is a guaranteed crowd pleaser) are set loose in the pit, then convicted criminals are dropped in at one end. Any criminals who make it alive through the gauntlet of carnivores to the far end of the pit can scramble up knotted ropes and win their freedom, along with the adulation of the crowd. Spectators line the walls for these spectacles — including representatives from every level of Port Nyanzaru society, not just residents of the Old City. Bets are placed on which criminals will survive, which will die, how far runners will get before a beast brings them down, and how many kills each animal will rack up.
A handful of Chultans have become celebrities by surviving multiple dashes through Executioner’s Run. It’s been suggested that some people continue committing crimes solely because a conviction is the only way to get tossed into the pit, and betting is always heaviest on a repeat offender.
Occasionally an animal manages to leap or scramble out of the pit and runs amok through the terrified crowd. Moments of such high peril provide a perfect opportunity for bystanders to become heroes in the city and earn favors from the merchant princes.
An enormous sinkhole serves as the city’s garbage dump. Every type of refuse gets tossed here, up to and including dead bodies. It’s a festering scar of garbage, rancid water, and vermin. Rats, insects, and ravens abound. Ghouls are sometimes seen prowling through the pit in search of fresh corpses.
Although the level of refuse in the pit rises and falls, the pit never gets full.
Yellow looks over the group. "I have three letters to deliver and a harbor master and merchant to see. I ... also have a personal errand I'd like to take care of before we leave." Yellow blinks slowly and then looks at Drita. "I'd like you to accompany me on that one," she says almost reluctantly. Continuing before Drita can respond, "Those of you who would like to accompany me may. Those of you with other agendas are welcome to do so. At sundown, let's all meet at the Thundering Lizard inn near the Red Bazaar. I will hopefully have seen everyone I need to by then, and we can plan our departure for tomorrow morning." She looks around again. "Unless any of you have a burning desire to stay in port longer than that while the Order suffers back at Camp Vengeance."
"That seems a lot to accomplish in one day, but we'll see what happens. I'll go with you, I have a feeling dealing with these merchants are going to tougher than you think, but I'm a people person." He says with a smile, "Also, I don't see the need to leave right away. We can send the scouts we hire back with the supplies as soon as we purchase them. We can hire some mercenaries to go with them as guards as well; though we'll probably need to dip into the Order funds for that. There's no need for us to guard the supplies ourselves, besides, Cpt Firebeard also tasked us with tracking down their missing supplies and personnel; I'm betting that will take some time. I also have some contacts I need to reach out to and supplies to purchase myself. I think 3 days here would be enough for us to get what we need done, handle any personal business, and have a little bit of time to relax while wecan."
Arriving in the city, Drita is at awe with how the jungle climbs up the sides of the city walls. She is too busy looking around to say anything but will follow Yellow and the others so she doesn't get lost. She sees dinosaurs roaming the street and is continuously amazed by such beasts.

As you are getting ready to head out into the city, Eku walks over to Krav and Kaslo. "I will be in the Thundering Lizard when you are ready to depart. You still have my services for another 12 days." She turns towards Krav, "I would suggest you might think of fighting in the Gladiator Games while you are here in Port. You can make a good deal of money and it will be a valuable learning experience. I've seen you fight and I think you would be good at it."
Eku waves to the group and walks away.
Yellow leads you into the city through the Old City gate and heads in a southern direction towards the Grand Souk.
The Grand Souk, or market, is one of the three beating hearts of Port Nyanzaru — the others being the jewel market and the Red Bazaar. True to its name, the Grand Souk is the grandest of the three.
Traders from up and down the Sword Coast come to this market to buy timber, spices, medicines concocted from jungle plants, dinosaur skulls and claws, iron, tiger pelts, carved ivory, Batiri and grung handiwork, colored feathers, tropical fruit, monkeys, plesiosaur meat, and all the other riches of Chult. Business begins before the sun comes up, and dealing doesn’t stop until well after darkness edges across the city. It’s a noisy, jostling, aroma-rich circus. Guards are numerous, but less numerous than the urchins and pickpockets. Street performers and tabaxi minstrels add to the cacophony. Colorful awnings protect the market from sun and rain but also trap the heat and smells.
Just outside of the Grand Souk is a large villa. These residences have beautifully plastered walls adorned with bright murals, patios and arcades festooned with fresh flowers, garden courtyards open to the sky, and enormous cisterns equipped with water wheels to power fountains, fans, and kinetic sculptures.
Yellows walks up to the door and knocks. After a few moments a young Chultan man answers the door. He is dressed in brightly colored robes and has a large afro. He looks you up and down and frowns. "How may I help you?"
Krav raises his eyebrows when Yellow tells him to stay on the barge, but does as she asks.

Taking the spyglass with a polite nod, Solis says "Thanks, glad to help."
He then looks to Yellow, "They should be alright now, the injured lady will be awake in a couple of hours. Her injuries will heal on their own."

I’m happy to accompany you but I would like to check the magic shops before I leave for any items that might aid us.
(Taggart is interested in wondereous items, gloves hats cloaks boots bags ect. Also maybe inquire about magical ammunition).
A proper bath and bed will be a delight as well!

"I'm game to go," Krav says, after looking in his pack for a moment.
