"Krav my stout brethren, what say ye? How much longer do we give these love struck fools? Do we wait the rest of the day here or should we head out, and pray to the gods they can find their own way to the encampment?"
Kaslo nods his head slowly in reluctant agreement.
"Well, we should atleast leave them some directions...Eku or Undril, are either of you able to sketch a rough map for those fools to follow should they make it back here alive?"
Eku smiles and nods. "Sure Kaslo dear. I will draw them a map. Should we leave them a canoe as well? because if they have to travel by foot they will surely get lost or killed. The river is the safest way to Camp Vengeance."
Undril nods at the request to leave the canoe and begins to pack up the barge as Eku pulls out a piece of parchment and a quill from her pack. She begins to draw a picture of six tombstones with a question mark over the last two. She writes we are here. Then she draws a picture of the river and puts a line in it pointing in the direction you were traveling and writes go this way for 8 hours if you go the other way you are doing it wrong and turn around. On the other side of the river, she draws a little fort and writes Camp Vengeance, We will be here. She rolls up the parchment and puts it in a case and lays it in the canoe.
Once she is done you all gather your belongings and hop into the barge and head upstream in the direction she drew on the map. It takes you most of the morning and all of the afternoon until you come around a bend in the river:
Through the foliage, you see a crude timber fortification — a walled compound with watchtowers and tents inside it, encircled by a ditch bristling with sharpened stakes. A large gatehouse faces the river, on the shore of which are four rowboats tied to a wooden post.
Scattered around the fort are piles of charred human corpses and flayed animal carcasses swarming with flies.
It is now approximately 7 pm and you know in about another hour the sun will be setting over the trees and leave you in darkness.
Undril begins to smile and points to the camp. "That my friends are Camp Vengeance. I thank you for bringing me here and I will make sure I tell the commander what you have done for me."
You guys can talk and such but I can't post again until the other group catches up with you (In game time). That should be by tonight or tomorrow morning at the latest.
Undril shrugs. "The jungle is cruel. The undead was what caused our last camp to be over run but it seems this time the Order has adequate defenses to protect themselves."
As you get closer to the docks a light shines down on you from the watch towers where you see four guards aiming heavy crossbows at the party.
"Halt, what business do you have with The Order of the Gauntlet? This is our Camp by right. Why do you trespass?" You hear one of the guards yell.
Undril steps off the barge and pulls out a gold pendant from under her tunic and holds it up. "Whitehawk Undril Silvertusk reporting for duty Chevall. Open the gates."
The man places his right fist against his chest and nods, Undril does the same. You hear a lot of commotion coming from inside the camp as the gates begin to swing open.
A cat, black as midnight, lounges lazily on the gate, tail swaying slowly to and fro. It watches the exchange between the half-orc and the guard with an unusual amount of interest for a common animal. When the gates begin to open it allows the momentum to roll it off its perch and it plummets towards the ground. Just before hits, it disappears.
In their spot around the fire, Ezio sits with his back to opening gate in the distance, "It seems our new charge is here. A rough looking bunch is with her." He says to the others. "Well, let's go get the introductions over with, I assume we'll be leaving this cesspit in the next couple of days." With that he stands and walks towards the gate.
Ezio stands at six feet tall and moves with the subtle grace of a dancer. The half-elf is fair of skin and features with piercing lavender eyes, and a seemingly perpetual grin. He wears a reinforced waist length leather jacket over a tight black shirt with leather pants and boots to complete the outfit. On his on his hip is a striking longsword with a curiously curved sheathed. If it was unsheathed, you would notice that the blade is itself curved and only cuts on one side; the sword and sheath are both stylishly decorated, mostly black with deep purple highlights. On his opposite hip hangs a black leather book, the cover is a stylized depiction of lion and raven circling each other.
Ezio walks boldly up to the group as they enter the gate. He stops in front of them and executes a graceful half bow, straightening with a smirk on his face, "Welcome to Camp Vengeance, I assume you all are as eager to be at this place as I am to quit it, but that can wait until you're rested and provisioned. I am Ezio Miradark, of no relation to the Order of the Gauntlet, but I find myself in their employ anyways, along with my companions." He gestures towards a lizardfolk, tabaxi, and a water gensai as they approach. "We've been assigned a task for which we were told you all would be accompanying us, but, again, the details can wait until you've settled. I'm sure the Chevall here will give you the 2 cooper tour of our wonderful abode so you may find what you need." Ezio indicates the Chevall by looking towards the tabaxi before turning back to the newcomers.
"Oh, and best keep your weapons close. A night hasn't gone by where we haven't been under threat from dinosaurs or undead. Many times the guards handle it, but sometimes they require assistance." He amends.
As Ezio finished making his introductions, Captain Firebeard shoulders passed him and gives a quick salute to Undril.
"You're 2 ten-days late Whitehawk. Breakbone is not happy with you. Report to the command tent immediately."
Undril looks nervous as she hurried away from the group towards the command tent.
Captain Firebeard looks over the rest of the group and smiles. "I'm sorry for you to have witnessed that. My name is Captain Firebeard, welcome to Camp Vengeance. Please come in. Dinner is by the fires. I'm sure Mr. Ezio here can show you where they are. I'm sure the Commander will want to talk to you shortly."
He gestures towards Ezio as the gates begin to close behind you.
Eku nods to the captain and gives Ezio a smile. "I'm Eku, this groups guide. A pleasure to meet you."
"Likewise" Ezio says to the ebony skinned woman with a charming grin. "The cooking fire is to the north behind those tents over there." He addresses the group and waves his hand lazily behind him and to his left. "There's a water barrel next to it, but I wouldn't trust it, better to collect your own if you have a rain catcher. There's several colorful diseases running through the camp, it has Cyas and her healers running ragged, so don't expect much if you've got any questionable rashes you want looked at. The fireplug of a dwarf you just met is one of the two captains that run this abyss hole, the other is a human woman named Salhana. The commander of this garrison is Niles Breakbone, he stays holed up in that tent in the middle, likely hiding from all the discontented grumblings of his soldiers that think he's going to get them all killed. Like I said, stay alert, it's fairly safe inside the fortifications aside from the odd wing of pterosaurs, but as soon as you leave the gate it's dinosaurs by day and undead at night. I'm sure you've ran into some on your way here." Finished with his lecture to the party at large, Ezio turns back to Eku, offering his arm so that he may walk her into the camp towards the cook fire.
"If you don't mind, I've been pressed for beautiful company besides the wonderful Chevall here and I'm a man that enjoys variety. You said you were a guide, would you happen to have a map? I saw some interesting locations marked on the commander's map when I was in his tent and I think they'll be of use to us in our coming journey. I'd like to mark them, but that can wait until you've eaten. Do you like allosaurus?" He asks her general questions about the groups journey to the camp as they walk towards the fire.
As Ezio and Eku wander off toward the fire, those nearest to the Tabaxi hear her utter a low growl as her eyes follow the pair. After Ezio's introduction, you assume the creature is female. She stands as tall as Ezio at around six feet. Even through her armor, you can tell she is lithe. Her fur is short, creamy white and dark brown. Her face is mostly dark brown, but her jowls and neck are creamy white. Her ears stick out of holes cut in the hood of her dark gray gambeson and are mostly dark brown. Her tail, which pokes out from underneath her chain mail shirt — and is currently whipping back and forth in long, quick movements — is creamy white with a dark brown tip. The rest of her is covered in Order of the Gauntlet armor. She wields an unremarkable long sword and shield. Her voice is low and slightly sultry.
She turns her deep green eyes toward Kaslo, Krav and Thor. "As was said, food's by the fires. Makes yourselves at home," she says with a smile which doesn't reach her eyes. She turns and walks into camp, but not in the direction Ezio and Eku went, her tail still whipping.
Krav, Kaslo, and Thor each get 75 xp for escorting Undril to Camp Vengeance safely.
Eku scowls as she sees Yellow. She hooks her arm in Ezio's and gives him a warm smile. "Aren't you a precious child. Lead on my dear guide. I love Allosaurus actually. We had some Yesterday as a matter of fact. As for a map? I don't use one. The rest of the group had one at one time or another but I'm not sure who is carrying it. You'd have to ask them."
Eku walks with Ezio answering his questions that aren't too specific about anyone. Telling him just basic info about where they have been etc. Not why they are out here. She refers those questions to Kaslo.
"Now just hold on a second there Elf. I'm not sure who you've been talking to, but our mission was to escort Undril here to her encampment, which we just done. While I appreciate your enthusiasm, you must forgive me when I say, we at this time, have no other business in this place. We have been tasked with another over arching job, and dropping Undril off on the way was just a matter of good timing."
Kaslo pauses for a moment, looking to the other 2 surviving party members. "We've just suffered a massive loss to our original party, and need still need to put our heads together about our next steps, and it's rather presumptuous of you to think that we are joining you on anything at this time."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
When the party first enters camp and is being shown around camp Vyth will get curious and would like to try and sneak up on the back 2 party members to see what they might have. (I don't plan on taking anything unless it's actually useful for me, I will not take any gold or rations or water jugs etc.)

Krav shakes his head, snapping himself out of his torpor.
"Either they've found Zee and have forgotten us, or they have fallen into some trap," he replies.
"Either way, we must head on. Our true mission must be completed."
And that's all I have to say about that.
Kaslo nods his head slowly in reluctant agreement.

"Aye, I suppose we should."
Krav fills his waterskins and packs up. He seems eager to leave this place.

Krav wrinkles his nose at the carnage, but doesn't say anything.
And that's all I have to say about that.
Kaslo looks to Undril. "Does your Order always create such a welcoming experience?"
Undril shrugs. "The jungle is cruel. The undead was what caused our last camp to be over run but it seems this time the Order has adequate defenses to protect themselves."
