DM: seen it mostly your way. the misty step was more for flavor its her moving to and from the pillars is a thing she can do call it a lair action. The action stands as written. As for safest route I can see it your way but usually play it as avoids all known sources of damage.
Totally fair. I wasn't trying to argue either - just thinking about different interpretations.
Thanks for allowing the oppty attacks on G3 from Storm (already taken), Kileprat and Casey if they wish (Aino is skipping hers to keep her reaction).
I also just realized I totally forgot to take Thumbtack's action on Aino's turn. Oh well, the bird was snoozing. Did the cannon kill her, I assume?
DM: those conversations make us better. Sorry if I came of as combative.
I'll let you make the call on where Thumbtack was. If She was flying she cam make a save on a success no damage. If she was perched on your shoulder ya don't think she can survive even a save.
Break break
Storm a 16 is a hit since no shield. Ypur two follow up hits as well. I kinda feel bad for G3 he went from a being a BA with his boom Spear to being tore up. He not looking so good.
G1 is up: he will move to stand back to back with G2 with GC between.
He will toss a boom Spear at Kileprat. (If you fail your dex save and are prone I'll roll again)
Thrown attack: 15 to hit... miss. The Spear sails towards Kileprat, seeing it she easly steps back. It lands short. But upon hitting the ground it explodes.
Kileprat and Casey (if still standing if prone you both fail) make a DC 12 dex save or take 6 damage.

You didn't come off as combative at all! I just wanted to make sure you knew I wasn't complaining.
As for feeling bad for G3 - hey the gladiators got very lucky with their saves! =) Even with advantage, odds say at least 2 of them fail DC 16, drop everything and dash. And if they didn't have advantage against Fear (which Aino didn't know about sadly), decent chance all 3 fail.
OOC: I've never made a ranged attack against a prone target at first I thought advantage but that don't make since. Could not find anything on the subject. Do yall know the rule on this case I'm leaning towards disadvantage for the ranged attacker.
G2: will move to cover the otherside of GC facing Aino. He has an Arcane pistol andcwill shoot at Aino.
Attack 1: 16 miss
Attack 2: 17 miss.
Still distracted by the clown? What was that? He misses.
G3 is still alive but Casey has not said qhat she wanted to do about the AOO. So for now we is still hobbling away screaming clown leaving a very bloody train and a arm maybe he should not be alive but still is somehow.

It is disadvantage to all attacks from more than 5' away (and advantage to all attacks within 5') when the target is prone:

Casey uses BA hex on GC, giving disadvantage to Dex checks, and shoots two Eldritch blasts at her, the second one might hit with a 23, for 3 force and 6 necrotic Hex damage.
Casey looks nervously at the cannons, knowing she can’t take another of those hits even if she dodge. “Maybap should try to break them cannons” she says..
Regarding Aino's owl familiar Thumbtack, perhaps we can say this? She would have flown to grant help against GC, granting advantage. @Tesservett - I noticed that you rolled attack for the two Eldritch Blast beams on GC normally. But since GC took the dodge action, those attacks would have been at disadvantage. Why don't we say that Thumbtackhelped on the second one, canceling disadvantage for the 23, allowing it to hit as a straight roll?
(The owl then returns to Aino's shoulder, where she is pulverized by the cannon. Would love to say she was still flying, but that feels like meta-gaming.)
Questions @DM: The towers are in a square formation 30' away from each other?
If so, I think a 20' radius (40' diameter) sphere between the remaining 3 tower-tops with contraptions should cover all 3 contraptions, correct?
I don't think the math works it would be 42ish feet from each other to the edge so like 52 ft on center. They are in a + layout 30 ft from the party to the edge in each direction but I don't want to get that crunchy. What are you trying to do? Can always make some kinda check.

Trying to cover at least 3 of the tower tops, the ones with contraptions still on them, in a fireball - 40' diameter sphere. Was trying to destroy the cannons before they can fire again. If she singes GC too up there, that's just gravy.
Sounds like it won't work, though? If the towers are in a cross formation with each being 30' from the center, then yes, that is over 42 feet (30' * square root of 2) diagonally. So it sounds like Aino couldn't even get 2 of them in the fireball?
Looking for any possible way to stop GC from doing another 20-50 points of damage to us (depending on saves) since we may not survive that.
The last roll for that was not just 8d8 damage (average 8 * 4.5 = 36) but 8d8 at advantage! Aino doesn't rationally expect the party to survive another one.
Ok, given that she can't think of a way to take out all the cannons before GC acts, Aino goes to a desperation measure. Save the healer.
"Casey, let me do this, don't resist," she shouts to the bard with the tricorn hat.
Waving her fingers in a twisting motion and uttering a strange, arcane word, Aino casts Vortex Warp on Casey.
DC 16 CON Save (target can fail intentionally, which Aino is asking Casey to do) or be teleported up to the top of a tower, next to one of the cannons.
"Destroy the cannon or push it off, then heal us at range when we go down," she asks her companion. (Hoping for bonus action Healing Word when we go unconscious). "I can hop you to the next cannon while I am up." (platforms 42'+ apart, so too far for Misty Step.)
Aino braces as best she can for the next blast, pointing at the shield that G3 dropped for the others to pick up if needed. (She can't don a shield herself or it ends her bladesong and she doesn't want to do that). She picks the dropped boomstick away with her free action and stows it.
No need for her to concentrate on Fear any more since the only affected gladiator is dead, but why not, just to keep reminding the others of clowns.
Dex Save: 15 for 21 damage, so happy I got more armor, huge help here...
Attack of Opportunity vs G3: 16 to hit with 10 damage
Storm will move forward towards G1, as he does he stares at the gladiator intently "Youre mine!" before striking out.
Move Action: Moves up to G1
Bonus Action: Casts Hunters Mark and nominates G1
Shatterspike 1st Attack: 27 to hit, 18 damage in total including Hunters Mark
Shatterspike 2nd Attack: 21 to hit, 16 damage total
OOC: Almost forgot he has two attacks now

Opportunity attack
To hit: damage: 12 + bardic inspiration 5 = 17
Kileprat save w/advantage is still only 12.. so full damage and stun. As a reaction will use stones endurance for 11 hp back. I am at 24
Kileprat swats th gladiator as he goes by then the cannon goes off and she stumbles
"Unhhh. Give a sec, I'll be fine"

Makes since, thanks well the reroll was not a Nat 1 so it's as written
Casey hits with her aoo with her shillelagh, 22 to hit, 13 bludgeoning damage
she barely makes the Dex save so takes 1/2 damage from the cannon.
(15)
Casey when you hit G3 he crumbles to the ground. As the dust clears he is gone. It looks like the cannon hit him direct nothing is left.
Ooc: man so much of what made this fight deadly was dependent on all three of the gladiators being alive.
She smiles at the crumbled gladiator. “I’m still claimin that kill!” She winks at her companions.
(Hey these are fun battles- never know what’s going to come out!).
She moves closer to gladiator 2, but outside of melee range of him.
Ya a 23 hits. GC does not like that, she pulls out a make up kit and covers the rioting bit of flesh on her arm.
"Tis Tis now that's not lady like"
End of round.
At the tip of the next round GC will vanish again.
Order: Aino, GC, Storm, Gladiator 1 (G1), Kileprat, G2, Casey
