"Eh, I don't really care about where I end up. It's all the same to me anyways."Twig laughs, "As long as there's stuff to steal I'll survive." She looks around, "Welp I don't know about you all but I'm gonna keep exploring. Maybe there's another way off this island in this ruin. Like Zhernon said, this amulet has to do something. Apparently it's some kind of key? Let's try to figure out what it goes to!" Twig takes the amulet out, looks at it, then hangs it around her neck before running over to the stone door.
There are no traps and the stone doors opens easily. At the end of the corridor there is a mural with a depression in the middle. The shape matches the amulet.
With a 19 nature check Zhernon knows its has a petrifying gaze.
Petrifying Gaze. If a creature starts its turn within 30 feet of the basilisk and the two of them can see each other, the basilisk can force the creature to make a DC 12 Constitution saving throw if the basilisk isn't incapacitated. On a failed save, the creature magically begins to turn to stone and is restrained. It must repeat the saving throw at the end of its next turn. On a success, the effect ends. On a failure, the creature is petrified until freed by the greater restoration spell or other magic.
A creature that isn't surprised can avert its eyes to avoid the saving throw at the start of its turn. If it does so, it can't see the basilisk until the start of its next turn, when it can avert its eyes again.
(I Would need to know if anyone closes their eyes or is looking elsewhere. The Basilisk can force its gaze on those that are looking elsewhere when it takes its turn. Those with their eyes closed will attack with disadvantage)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
:(
(( I'm gonna presume that he's not experienced enough to know what a basilisk looks like?... ))
"What the heck is that?!" yells Roland as he followed in after Twig and Zhernon. He looks towards its eyes just before its effect hits and he feels what's going on...

Investigation: 18
There are no traps and the stone doors opens easily. At the end of the corridor there is a mural with a depression in the middle. The shape matches the amulet.
The mural is in the corridor between room 7 and 8
"Well looks like this goes right there!" Twig walks up and places the amulet in the depression. The waits for something to happen.
The walls fall away revealing doors to room 7 and 8
What do you do next?
Twig laughs the rushes into room 8 before anyone can stop her.
Twig finds 2 large treasure chests and a Basilisk guarding them.
Twig please give me a Con Save DC 12 as you look into the Basilisks glowing eyes.
(For combat I am going to use side initiative. Which means the party goes first then the basilisk and back and forth. So no need for initiative)
Round 1 post your actions when able.
(Nature: 19 to see if Zhernon knows anything about the basilisk)
(Can they enter the room without looking directly at the basilisk?)
Yes you can enter while averting your gaze.
With a 19 nature check Zhernon knows its has a petrifying gaze.

(So since Zhernon has blindsight they can get in, close their eyes and fight without ever making the save, right? ^-^)
(I Would need to know if anyone closes their eyes or is looking elsewhere. The Basilisk can force its gaze on those that are looking elsewhere when it takes its turn. Those with their eyes closed will attack with disadvantage)
Yes Zhernon can which is a great solution
Bonus action: Cast Ensnaring Strike on themself
Action: Shortsword attack, 18 to hit, 5 piercing damage
Extra attack from Dread Ambusher: Shortsword attack, 22 to hit, 7 piercing + 8 from Ambusher
Zhernon caws irritatingly at Twig and quickly closes their eyes as they rush in, using their blindsight to quickly take several swings at the beast!
(( Nature Check for Roland: 7; it will really suck if he can't identify a basilisk or recall what they do... ))

(Zhernon would have called out what it is and told everyone to avert their eyes)
Tilsu summons her spirit mace and sends it forward to strike the beast. While she's standing back, she snaps.
Spirit mace attack: 15, Damage: 9
Toll the Dead: 2
Tilsu give me a con save unless you have your eyes closed.
