Kal strains at the lid, but relaxes again after a few moments when it hasn't even shifted. "Well, it was a good thought..." Kal says.
He looks around the room for a moment, lost in thought. "There is another possibility for me," he says slowly. "but it doesn't do anything to help you get across."
"Maybe we could go back upstairs and look for something to use? Some spare planks of wood somewhere, or a door or something? Or do you think you can make the jump yourself?"

"Maybe we could go back upstairs and look for something to use? Some spare planks of wood somewhere, or a door or something? Or do you think you can make the jump yourself?"
"Oh I can make the crossing easily," Star adds. "I just thought it might be easier for you. It seems we struggled with this stone for nothing." He shrugs and smiles. "Let us go and cross then, in our own ways." Returning to the gap he waits for Kal before asking "What is your possible way of crossing?"
Kal pulls a ring off of his finger. "The being that I made a deal with to obtain my powers is a Djinni. One of the additional perks that came from that deal was my own vessel that I can enter on occasion." he says, holding up the ring. He gives a small shrug. "I can just hop into here and you can toss it across or carry it with you."
(pending any other conversation beforehand)
He holds the ring out towards Star, placing it in his ally's hand, then puffs away into smoke, which streams into a small compartment on the ring and vanishes.
"Fascinating," Star muses as the ring sits calmly in his paw, showing no outward sign of power, but knowing that it contains his companion he tucks it securely into a pouch.
At the gap again he extends his claws and grips onto the walls of the corridor, finding handholds or making them in the wood where necessary (climb speed 20ft). Once over he retrieves the ring and holds it out flat in his palm again. He gives it a little tap with a claw, saying "You can come out now. We are across the spiked void."
Smoke streams out of the ring again and forms back into the shape of Kaltent. "Thanks for the ride," he says. "Was tempting to just....stay in there for a while and relax while I get carried around, but figure I should probably pull my weight." He grins as he talks.
Looking around, Kaltent realizes someone is missing. "Where's Vice?" he asks. "Did he go on ahead?"
Juniper, in brown bear form, stands on hind legs sniffing the air, then roars a bellow like a thunderclap to get Vice’s attention. When her call echoes then subsides with no response, she remains standing, ears perked, for some time before a mournful sound escapes her. She returns to all fours and finds Star’s eyes. Star, the last person to actively cross the pit. The bear’s eyes are large, searching, worried.
The intensity of the worry in the bear's eyes catches Star by surprise, but he understands their meaning. He also looks back over the gap, searching the shadows for any sign of Vice.
"He was behind Kal and I as we approached the gap, but I do not remember passing him when we returned to the tombs. I did not think anything of it at the time... I will return to look for him."
He takes the 10ft run-up and leaps across the gap. Running through this area he gives a cursory check of all the rooms just to check if Vice has returned to them, or engaged some other creature.
(I'll roll a Perception check though I know the answer, just in case there's anything you want to add.)
"I thought he went with you," Emma adds to the discussion before Star runs back to search. "But, now that I think of it, I don't remember him going with them. I just... thought he did." She pauses. She can't help but imagine what could possibly have happened to someone in this accursed place, disappearing like the wind. For Juniper's sake, though, she brings none of that up. She didn't know what lead to such a response, but perhaps Juniper felt some connection.
Even if she doesn't say anything, simply watching her hesitant movements or sudden sharp reaction to even the slightest sound reveal just how scared and tense Emma is. It's hard to imagine anyone staying like that for long without letting everything out at some point. Like a pressure pot heated too long. But she's been enduring it all so far, so maybe she'll be able to keep doing so until they're out. Who knows, maybe the seal on this pressure pot is a strong one.
"Wait!" Emma calls after Star. "Where are you going? We should stick together... else another one of us might... disappear." Though she didn't know what happens to one who disappears, it might not be so bad if it happens to her. But instead, she feared what will happen if everyone else disappears and she was left alone.
Star follows the drag marks but they seem to disappear. He then retraces his steps, exploring the rooms that the group has already cleared. However, there is no more signs of where Vice went. Eventually, Star returns back to the rest of the group.

Juniper searches Star's eyes for hope, but when it becomes obvious that there is none, her huge head swings slowly around, stops for a long moment, seemingly looking at nothing, then continues, finally pointing down the corridor toward the distant choir sounds, toward the newly discovered stairway on the far side of the pit. When everyone is together, she will lead the way, lumbering listlessly, toward the top of the stairs.

Star begins following the tracks but does not do a good job of keeping quiet. Instead, his footsteps can be heard echoing down the hall.
