(OOC: Firstly, need to make a very important concentration save)
Con Save[DC 10]: 10.
(Nevermind, I misread that crit being aimed at Jack)
(Oooh~ So close yet so far. Rip. And unfortunately if it works anything like the entangle spell, it would take an action to break out, sooooo not gonna bother with that with noodle arms mcgee.)
"It's all good, Bluto-boy! You did your best!" Jack called out brightly, appearing strangely both unperturbed and unsurprised by what became of the man. But then as he locked eyes on the blight responsible for the death, his blood -- which was already rushing from adrenaline of the flight into fighting -- began to really boil. "As for you little abomination. Rip and tear all you want, but the end of you and all comes soon!" He threatens before his body suddenly explodes into embers and razor leaves that flew forth and shred into the blight occupying the stairway! As for Jack himself, he soon remateralized in a poof of embers and ash by the barrels beside Nivi either still bound in black vines or casually brushing them off them off as they wither away from being disconnected from the source. Either way, his eyes appear remained pits of glowing embers as an orange aura surrounded Jack. "I need moment more, but I'll see if I can clear the way soon!"
Bonus Action: Spending a charge of Steps of the Fey - Refreshing Step to teleport to D18, and gain 5(2) Temp HP. (OOC: He's still entangled going by RaW, but I'll leave that up to DM interpretation of things.)
Action: Move Whirlwind of Razor Leaves to F14, dealing 10(14) Slashing to any blight within the base of the stairway.
(I've personally never seen a reason why someone would be entangled if they teleported, *and* were not still within the space. You teleported from one corner of it to the other but are still within the space, though you could have gone one higher to C18. My logic is: You may not see the whole space, but you can see part of the space, so perhaps you'd be pressed against the right wall, but you'd be there.)
As Arugal is ensnared by the foul plant growth and then attacked by the blights, Nivi shouts a word in Elven ('Thorn') as the most damaging of the blows comes in (CRIT on straight roll) and red-tinged jagged shining shafts of light shoot from her free hand in an effort to distract the attacker.
Nivi casts Silvery Barbs as a reaction to the critical hit on Arugal. The attacking blight which CRIT Arugal must re-roll the attack (straight roll) and use the lower roll. Nivi also confers advantage to an ally on their next d20 roll as they benefit from the distraction (she chooses Arugal).
She winces internally as she witnesses Bluto's death, but shows no outward expression.
(Will post Nivi, Arugal and Shiv's actual turns later - the above occurs during the blights' turn).
"Coming in hot, Ruby, these shrubbies, don't get rooted to a spot! Who did that to you and Shorty, anyway? Our druid friend make an appearance?"
As Nivi distracts the ranged attacker who hit Arugal the hardest, causing it to miss instead, her Silvery Barbs enchantment provides the wiry Vistani rogue an opening to break free of the shadowy entanglement that is causing him to be restrained for the moment.
Arugal's Action: DC12 STR Check to break free of Entangle at advantage from Silvery Barbs, +0 Bonus, 2d20: 11,17 (success) Arugal's Movement: None - assuming he should not require further movement to stay free of the Entangle effect after succeeding on his STR Save.
(The two blight attacks that do hit him leave Arugal with some nasty cuts and contusions but nothing too serious... yet... 64/78hp)
As Nivi begins speaking, she braces herself in her hiding spot behind the barrels and launches an arrow from her longbow at the uninjured spiral staircase blight (E15?) at advantage, the one that emerged from the spiral staircase and Jack had NOT targeted.
Shiv takes wing from Nivi's shoulder and flies in the face of whichever foe it looks as if Beren will attack next, granting advantage to the paladin's next attack. Taking the help and then returning to Nivi's shoulder using his 60' fly speed and Flyby to avoid opportunity attacks.
Nivi's Action: Longbow attack at advantage (from previously hiding) at the uninjured spiral staircase blight, as described above: Longbow to hit (best of 3d20s due to Elven Accuracy): 25 Longbow plus Sneak Attack damage: 11 + 10 = 21 (piercing) Nivi's Movement: E - E - E - S - S to E14 to stand over Bluto's corpse, respectfully for once, to hopefully prevent it from being... devoured (?) by any blight. Nivi's Bonus Action: She attempts to hide behind the jutting exterior corner of the spiral staircase (Cunning Action). Nivi'sStealth to hide: 19 Nivi's Free Action: (She stows her longbow at her back.)
"Yeah, that was probably the druid, I think," Arugal growls in reply to Nivi as he sloughs off the worst of the shadowy entangling vines.
"Cast his little spell and told his ugly little plant thralls to feed on me. Then ducked out of sight. Might do it again, so we should cut through as many of these buggers as we can. Need to have a nice chat with this guy, up close and personal. Dagger-to-face kind of chat."
Witnessing Bluto's death, the light behind the mask flares. His hands quiver for a moment, not in grief but in rage. As little as he'd really cared for the fisherman, Beren had promised to protect him. Perhaps such a promise had been foolish, nevertheless it angered him still. He was surrounded by evil, the very thing he was supposed to have been 'created' to destroy.
Gritting his teeth, Beren turns his searing gaze towards the door where the druid had retreated. No doubt there were more blights through there, but killing a puppet would do nothing to avenge the fallen. Nor would it serve to end this battle. Light blazing, he pushes through the tangle of vines, moving to burst through the door that the druid had escaped through. As he approaches the door, the light behind the mask intensifies, and tendrils of radiant power leak from the gaps in his armor. He steels himself, now isn't the time. Not yet. In spite of the flaring pain in his chest, he can't let the power free yet.
He moves to G15 (if the door opens)
Once through he attacks the first blight that comes in range
Feeling the glow of her divine Moonbeam, still shining down as a radiant sentry at the entrance to the winery, Olamoira remains quiet as she witnesses Bluto's demise. Death was no stranger to her, of course. The death of innocents, even, though the drunkard was hardly that. Yet nor was he some malign villain or willing servant of darkness, and it is perhaps well that only Jack witnesses the sinister entrapment of Bluto's soul.
Seeing the plant abominations arrayed before her, Olamoira steels herself as light spills from Beren's mask. "They shall not withstand him," she murmurs.
The dark elf's feet are light and her hands quick as she finds her focus, evading the onrushing blights and striking out with an open palm at the nearest one.
Movement: None (or if necessary, move to within 5' of nearest surviving blight). Action: Dodge (advantage on DEX saves and attacks against her have disadvantage) while maintaining concentration on Moonbeam at the entrance. Bonus Action: Unarmed Strike (Martial Arts) at nearest blight. Olamoira'sUnarmed Strike to hit: 7 + 5 = 12 Olamoira'sUnarmed Strike damage: 3 + 3 = 6 bludgeoning
(Okay, I've prepped the map, but I don't have time to post rightn ow. But I will only have to adjudicate/adjust enemy positions. Several blights have died.)
Jack vanishes in a whorl of leaves, moving just past the edge of the knotty floor, finding himself free of the entanglement, though the roots and shadow that had held him hold in place where he was as though he were still there, in an inverse outline of what was once there. The man then mentally shifts his sharp foliage to consume the only path along the staircase, leaving it to be a death blender pathway in the most literal sense, as the Blight that had been there becomes mulch, parts of it's body flying against the walls harmlessly.
Nivi aiming a shot towards the staircase, where another hapless Blight was just coming down to join the Death Parade. And perhaps in some form of vengeance for the fat bastard, shoots the arrow through the blight so hard that it does instantly, and the arrow has enough momentum to break against the wall behind it, before Nivi herself moves to the staircase, finding that the wall is plenty large enough for a lithe elf to hide behind.
Beren presses forward, the door already partially open, swings wide, only to reveal a wall of Blights in front of him. Unable to get farther, he strikes forward with his sword, just barely able to hit one of the creatures, and though his sword hits, there wasn't enough force behind it to end the creature, despite it being almost split in two, somehow it still stands like a twisted corpse.
Moira strikes out in front of her, finishing the one that Beren had started, and slamming her other fist into another blight nearby, wind-ing it but not felling it.
Before you all seems to be an endless horde of shifting bodies, blights press up against each other. Their limbs cracking with every movement in a discordant echo of snapping bones. Behind them, filing down the staircase in the room before you where the Druid had disappeared behind a door, were more of them, streaming single file down it.
Every time you kill one, another takes its place, or at-least that's how it feels. And to make matters worse, they seem utterly uneffected by the Entanglement.
(Starting with the closest)
The farthest left Blight fires a volley of Needles at Beren, as he is the only one it has a clear line of sight on, as Moira is too far behind the wall after her strikes. (Needles: Attack: 19 Damage: 8 )
The next left most claws at Beren with gnarled hands that look as sharp as splinters at the tip. (Claw: Attack: 22 Damage: 8 )
The middle-right Blight decides that Arrugal is the easier Target, clawing at the mans gut (Claw: Attack: 14 Damage: 8)
the right most blight firing a volley of needles at Arrugal as well (Needles: Attack: 20 Damage: 7 )
(now the next row closest to the party)
the Blight on the staircase fires Needles at Moira, as it has a better angle, attempting to fill her flesh with the stinging, corrupted wood. (Needles: Attack: 12 Damage: 8 )
the Blight to the left of the Vat fires Needles at Beren. (Needles: Attack: 11 Damage: 3 )
The Blight to the right of the Vat fires instead at Arrugal (Needles: Attack: 23 Damage: 11 )
The blight at the top of the stairs has no good angle, and though it can see Beren's feet, it has no way to attack currently. With the same applying to the one behind it.
The druid can be heard casting something only Jack would understand, and it was likely that the mans staff would hit far harder than it ever would normally as he casts shillelagh, but makes no other moves from his perch, though he can be heard shouting a command to someone, or something in Druidic.
Enemy turn over.
Several blights have died, but many more remain.
I apologize for the delay, I was trying to find a way to streamline the map.
The druid is still behind the wall. Only leaving his token there so you, as the players at-least know roughly where he was, on the UPPER level.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
With every strike that found purchase upon the tender flesh of his fellows, the more visibly Jack became enraged by the blights. But while it went against his very nature to do otherwise, he yet gritted and held back the impulse to magically leap into the throng to tear them apart with his blade. "Pathetic wretches barely fit to be firewood. But I bet you lot would wilt beneath even the weakest embers." He bitterly mocked a nearby blight with words laced with a subtle but potent magic.
Action: Casting Vicious Mockery on Needle Blight at G16. Wis Save[DC 12] or take 1 Psychic Damage.
(To DM: If any more blights from the spiral staircase come down, feel free to roll the damage for cloud of daggers. It's still a regular 4d4 slashing)
Leaving Jack's whirlwind of razor leaves to "guard" the spiral staircase, Nivi emerges from hiding to take another shot with her longbow. Seeing that she and Arugal seem to be able to one-shot these foes, she targets an uninjuredblight just behind the front line (let's say the one at H18).
"Could be the best we're going to get, this bottleneck. More coming down the stairs, though. Through Shorty's razor leaves, maybe. So don't be letting up now. Unless someone's got a way to get at that druid bastard upstairs without going through these bloody shrubs..."
Pale green eyes expressionless as her arrow finds a vulnerable spot, Nivi then ducks north and northwest, concealing herself behind the barrels once more.
Nivi's Action: Longbow attack on an uninjured blight (H18?), with advantage from having taken the hide action the previous turn. Longbow to hit - Advantage and 3 d20s from Elven Accuracy: 27 (Nat. 20) Longbow damage plus Sneak Attack: 12 + 11 = 23 (piercing) Nivi's Movement: N - NE - E in the center of the barrels (C16) Nivi's Bonus Action: Hide among the barrels (Cunning Action) - Stealth: 17
Shiv flies in the face of the blight just to the SE of Arugal and S of Beren (G17), taking the help action before flying back behind Jack (B18) using her 60' fly speed and Flyby to avoid opportunity attacks, granting advantage to the next attack against that blight.
The claw barely misses Arugal, scraping against his leathers, but the ranged needles strike home and he takes a moment to spit a glob of bloody saliva on the winery floor, scowling (46/78hp). He reverses the grip on his dagger for two low swipes (Multi-attack) at the blight which Shiv had distracted (G17).
Arugal's Action: Two Dagger attacks (Multi-attack) on blight at G17, the first with advantage due to Shiv'shelp action. Dagger attack 1 to hit (rolling with Nivi'sSurvival since it is also +6): 18 Dagger attack 1 damage plus Sneak Attack: 4 + 10 = 14 (piercing) Dagger attack 2 to hit G17 blight (or G16 blight if G17 one is down): 16 Dagger attack 2 to hit: 6 (piercing) - stat block says to add +3 DEX mod to damage for both attacks, but otherwise would be 3. Arugal's Movement: (None)
Beren, leaking blood and light from the multiple gaps in his armor, growls at the oncoming blights. His instincts told him to run into the center of the blights and let the blasted power free, yet he could tell by the pain spiking through his limbs that to do so would be a bad idea. Even with the edge the light might give him, he would burn too.
Even so, he can't simply stand here and wait as more blights press in against them. They need to get to the druid. With an angered battle cry he swings at the blight in front of him. Perhaps he should have taken a moment to heal himself, but that would mean pausing in his advance. So instead he presses forward, pain, rage, and the light within urging him to break through this enemy line and find that blasted druid.
(OOC: botting Olamoira per Constance's request - see OOC chat.)
Focus on the divine magic coursing through her sustains Olamoira as she concentrates on the radiant Moonbeam still shining down as sentry on the entrance to the winery. Her eyes snap to the seemingly endless onslaught of blights, the zeal within them unaffected by the daunting odds.
Calmly, as if she has been doing it her whole life, though in fact this discipline is quite new to her, the dark elf lands a sideways blow with her elbow as she weaves and pivots gracefully among the blights.
Movement: None, or 5' if needed to make a melee attack against a blight, prioritizing the most injured one she can without taking an opportunity attack. Action: Olamoira takes the dodge action. Attacks against her have disadvantage and she has advantageon DEX saving throws. Bonus Action: Olamoira makes an Unarmed Strike (Martial Arts) against the most injured surviving blight she can reach without taking an AoO: Unarmed Strike to hit: 18 + 5 = 23 Unarmed Strike damage: 1 + 3 = 4 (bludgeoning)
(OOC: again, 2014 rules would require monks to take the attack action before a bonus action martial artsunarmed strike, but 2024 rules do not.)
As a heads up, I will be moving the game to the virtual tabletop for ease starting with the next round.

Longbow damage plus Sneak Attack: 12 + 11 = 23 (piercing)
Nivi's Movement: N - NE - E in the center of the barrels (C16)
Nivi's Bonus Action: Hide among the barrels (Cunning Action) - Stealth: 17
Arugal's Action: Two Dagger attacks (Multi-attack) on blight at G17, the first with advantage due to Shiv's help action.
Dagger attack 1 to hit (rolling with Nivi's Survival since it is also +6): 18
Dagger attack 1 damage plus Sneak Attack: 4 + 10 = 14 (piercing)
Dagger attack 2 to hit G17 blight (or G16 blight if G17 one is down): 16
Dagger attack 2 to hit: 6 (piercing) - stat block says to add +3 DEX mod to damage for both attacks, but otherwise would be 3.
Arugal's Movement: (None)
Tanis(Ranger1): Shiverquill's Tempest City | Xarian(Fighter2): NioNSwiper's Tyranny of Dragons | Ophelia(Sorcerer4): Ashen_Age's Risen from the Sands

Greatsword against (G17) : (advantage from Shiv)
To hit: 19 Damage: 11
Attacks against her have disadvantage and she has advantage on DEX saving throws.
Bonus Action: Olamoira makes an Unarmed Strike (Martial Arts) against the most injured surviving blight she can reach without taking an AoO:
Unarmed Strike to hit: 18 + 5 = 23
Unarmed Strike damage: 1 + 3 = 4 (bludgeoning)
(OOC: again, 2014 rules would require monks to take the attack action before a bonus action martial arts unarmed strike, but 2024 rules do not.)
