Zefla creeps into the room and taking care not to step into the pentagram, heads to one of the chairs to look at what kind of books this 'Book Club' was in to.
Giles walks into the room and similarly looks through the books at each seat, looking at the pentagram on the floor and trying to discern more of what they were doing here. “Who or what do you think they were trying to conjure here, at this “book club”? Perhaps the Darklord of these lands? Something else? What should we do with this? Burr, do you want to help me bring Lady Wachter’s body down here? When the baron and his little guards come and investigate this house, they’ll find her down here and connect the dots. And hopefully not back to us. Although, we might need to clean up the living room a bit…”. Giles looks to the others, for their thoughts on the situation. If Burr agrees, Giles runs upstairs into the dining room and asks Vilka and Amalthia to head into the kitchen and look for a “to go” bag of some food for him, in case he wishes to have a bed time snack tonight. When they go there, he motions Burr to come on up and help him carry Lady Wachter’s body down to the basement, laying it against the wall near the pentagram.

Giles:
This doesn't look like a functioning summoning circle. In fact, it reminds you more of the crude 'demonic' vandalism of bored teenagers you've seen the occasional example of, than a real diabolic rite site.
The party is not able to locate any additional hidden rooms, and what is seen in this room appears to be all there is.
The corpses of Lady Wachter and her spy are both removed to the hidden cellar chamber.
Did Giles have any special requests of his friends for his care package?
Does the party plan to leave the daughter locked up in her interior bedroom upstairs?
Was there anything else they wanted to accomplish while they were here? There is probably another 30 minutes before Giles' charm wears off. It is full dark outside and mid-evening.

Perhaps while they are investigating here, we can look through his house for Ireena. Giles makes requests of his friends for his “care package” things that will keep, tasty items that will store and keep for a while. (Rations). And any leftover dessert for a late night snack.

Soren shakes his head, not quite sure what the word 'amateur' implies. Must be another city term. He pretends he knows the meaning.
"Amateurs they may have been, but still firm and eager allies of Strahd. And apparently devil enthusiasts too?" Soren glances at the book covers.
"They did manage to summon that invisible flying fiend, not to mention entrapping what seemed to have been an ancient vampire in that leaden chest upstairs." He shudders involuntarily, recalling the horrific creature and dreading whatever else may result from their release.
"I have led you all into what has happened here, including the release of that vampire. Thank you for not abandoning me. I will follow the rest of you hereafter for whatever we intend in Vallaki. Starting with whether we wish to do anything about the cat-minded girl upstairs. But also in whatever plan you devise to deal with or distract the Baron and his henchman Izek while we liberate Ireena and Lady Bauer."
"I only ask that you keep in mind - even if we are successful in freeing Ireena, if Lady Wachter's proposed scheme is to be believed, bringing Ireena into the open is exactly what Strahd wants. It may play into his hands as he waits to control her mind and take her away."
" Giles are the servants capable of caring for the girl? I fear she will easily overpower them......I wouldn't mind having words with this Izek and the Barons son about restoring her if possible....though I find it likely with Lady Wachter gone the Baron will strong arm the sons and have them all on the street..."
Giles turns to Burr and says “I’m sure they are used to dealing with her, but likely they just keep her locked up. We can ask. We could ask them to go report what has happened to the town guard, or simply go to the Baron’s house and report it, then search after they leave… or… I have an even better one. I can disguise myself as one of the guards, go report it and then slip away while you hide and make ready to enter the Baron’s house - - I’ll rejoin you and we can find Ireena… what do you think? Or something else entirely….” Giles holds his hand to his chin, drumming his fingers and thinking rapidly, wanting to use the situation fully to their advantage.

If no one else picks it up, Zefla takes the leatherbound grimoire. "So as for the kid? Up to you guys. But for the Baron's house... I like the idea of Giles disguising himself as one of the guards and getting us off of this mess we have made. Should we talk with Urwin? I mean we need a place to hide Ireena if we can get her out, it's the only place I currently feel safe. One other thought, should we send those ladies away? I'm afraid they'll come back to their senses when the Barron gets here and rat us out." The halfling continues to take in the room, wondering if there are others that have set up a sanctuary to Strahd such as this.

Whether you elect to try to do this diplomatically, clandestinely, or through overwhelming force, it likely feels like a massive task. Soren listens quietly to the others, having decided that the city-folk know best how to deal with the current predicament. Nettle emits a small, nervous hoo from his shoulder, sounding and looking nervous. Instead, Soren settles down to begin studying the rod (though he may not finish in time).
When Zefla mentions the Baron's son, Soren does chime in at length:
"I had the same thought about the Baron's son. Something about his demeanor towards Lady Bauer was completely different than his father's. As if he was fascinated, and desperate to learn more about her, not to keep her imprisoned. Madame Eva spoke of a troubled young man, trapped in their beliefs, surrounded by wealth and madness. The Baron, his father, seems mad to me, with his heavy-handed paranoia, as if that will keep Strahd out."
"Do any of you remember our first night in Vallaki, out in the storm looking for Rictavio, we saw purple lights at the top of the house before the Baron's henchman Izek answered the door? I wonder if that could have been the son's doing, somehow."
"If the son is the ally Madame Eva foretold, we must be careful. The prophecy may be twisted as it was with this rod and the vampire it held trapped. Yet I do not think we should slay the son, if we can avoid it. The Baron and his henchman, Izek are a different matter."
" Whoever wronged the young woman upstairs dies.", Burr says plainly, he will not argue against his companions but if they look to leave town and abandon the Ireena and the others they will part ways and Burr will attempt a rescue on his own.

Zefla creeps into the room and taking care not to step into the pentagram, heads to one of the chairs to look at what kind of books this 'Book Club' was in to.
