A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
Stymied from returning to his original pursuit of Lady Bauer's scent by the unexpectedly closed front door to the jail house, Mastiff-Soren yelps, hoping his companions recognize the sound and open the door.
Bramble hovers, the picture of quiet ursine stoicism, the skeletal bear almost looking as if he is shrugging his shoulders philosophically.
There is a moderately gentle canine yelp from just outside the front door of the jail-house.
Gilesreceives the silent message in his mind from Zefla, implying she is exploring the upstairs.
They can hear footsteps moving around at the back of the house, but it doesn't sound like it is coming down the hallway.
From somewhere below (a cellar?) a muffled voice calls out. "Hang on! I'm coming up!"
And from outside, they hear the plaintive yelp of a big dog.

You creep softly down the hall, your footfalls ghostly-quiet.
Peeking around the doorjamb of the open room, you must stifle a gasp. Tourmaline Bauer sits in a chair, similar to the one with the tortured man downstairs. Above her, a guard stands with a flickering torch illuminating the room, while a second guard leans over the chair, unfastening the leather straps that hold Lady Bauer down.
None of the three in the room have noticed you yet.

Giles hears in his head, I found her!! Lady Bauer is up here with two guards!
Giles whispers quietly and quickly to Burr, “Zefla, she’s upstairs, she found Lady Bauer! C’mon, move quickly, and close the door behind you!” Giles encourages Burr to leave the room and follow him, moving quickly up the stairs at the end of the hall, near where they originally entered. He tries to reply to Zefla in his mind, “Where are you? Coming up with Burr, let’s take out the guards and rescue her!”

Head spinning and thoughts churning 90 miles an hour, Giles receives the thoughts from Zefla and whispers quickly to Burr, saying “Look like a beaten down prisoner for me, okay?” He casts guidance on himself, then holds his lucky coin in his hand and smiles, quickly casting disguise self on himself as well, and suddenly the form of Izek Strazni appears in the place of Giles, creepy monster arm and all. He uses his monster arm to grab hold of the wrist of Burr, maintaining control of the “prisoner”, and then starts stomping up the stairs, no worry about sound. When he crests the top, pulling Burr in tow, he shouts out to the two guards messing with Lady Bauer, “You gits, drop what you’re doing and leave her alone! We’ve had an attack, I sent guards to the east gate, you two, get to the western gate and keep your eyes open, look lively, or I’ll crush your skulls. MOVE, don’t stand here waitin’! If you see any lazabouts downstairs, take ‘em with you. Some throats were ripped open near the eastern gate and you’ll need backup.”
“Izek” turns to Burr, saying, “You, sit in that other chair, its you’re turn, we’re gonna find out what you know about this….” He puffs up his chest and looks at the two guards, if they hesitate he will bellow “MOVE!” at them, sending them to the western gate to guard. “Izek” pushes Burr toward the chair, indicating for him to sit down.

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
Soren's idea here is that the party might need his Mastiff nose to find Lady Bauer. Little does he know that Zefla has already succeeded in locating her! So far, most of the communication has been telepathic. That is why he has remained in Mastiff form rather than just turn back into a half-elf and open the front door himself. But now, he probably hears stomping and a voice that sounds like Izek's addressing the guards?
This is quite confusing to Soren. How in Silvanus' name did Izek get down here and inside the jail-house so quickly? And where are Soren's friends?
OOC: With your permission @Bartjeebus, I am going to roll an Insight check for Soren for how much he is able to figure out. He HAS seen Giles perform such masquerades before, but mainly only up at Yester Hill. and perhaps once just outside the Tser Pool camp. You set the DC?
Soren'sInsight to figure out that this might be one of Giles' ruses: 22
@Bartjeebus - you tell me what Mastiff-Soren could figure out with that.
Soren, still outside and pawing at the door, would surmise that Izek could not possibly have come from the upstairs of the Baron's home and gotten into the jail faster than Soren himself did. Either that isn't Izek, or the one in the Baron's house isn't Izek. Weighing the options, he is likely to fairly conclude his ally Giles is playing some sort of trick on the jailors here.

From somewhere below, another voice calls up, "... Is that the boss?...".
