Jenna reaches up and squeezes her friend’s hand briefly, before picking up her goblet. She resists the urge to down it in one and instead sips her wine
Adhida glaces at Selinae speaking to Jenna and back at Maanai and Captain Vanya.
"Well, who isn't in these sands for nefarious reasons " Grim begins downing yet another goblet of wine. "I assume you're burial," he puts odd emphasis on burial as he continues, "might not be all you're after," Grim gestures at his face now to indicate Maanai's mask! "Thonis is fine for the crew but again I'd like to offer my services, " the dwarf adds looking over the party decidedly away from the captain, Maanai, and Adhida as if speaking to the party specifically for his offer of help.

Sometimes a Nat 1 tells a better story than a Nat 20 ever could.
Leela stays mostly quiet, watching the faces of those around her as she munches on the vegetable dishes.
(Can she tell if Manaai is more angry or worried? insight17 )
Her attention is caught by Grim's large ring as he flashes it around, and she leans in to take a better look. "An interesting stone, Master Grim. Wherever did you find it?"
Leela can see that Maanai isn't mad but extremely worried about the dwarf and his companions! Maanai isn't showing that fear easily however their uncharacteristic gruffness is definitely a cover!
"Ah this? I use it to control beasts," Grim replies flexing his fingers out and admiring the stone. "Useful in my line of work as your captain takes offense. I only hunt what I'm hired to hunt," he retorts with a grin.

Leela has never heard of the stone and can only assume it's rare.
Dinner ends and the mood on board is very tense. Maanai and Adhida retire to their cabin leaving the party and crew to sort out watch order. The crew will be among all three watches while captain Vanya has elected to stay up risking exhaustion to get the skiff to Thonis with haste!
OOC I need watch order and perception checks per order. Remember if you have no dark vision it will be at disadvantage!
The first watch is easy. The sand storm seems to have made the desert oddly calmer than ever before. Leela finds an excellent vantage point on deck and us able to see the myraid of life in the Scorched Sea at night! Creatures that populate this endless wasteland with flashing eyes and sleek bodies that dart about the sand below finding whatever they can to live. Noone comes on deck the minatour notices other than those who are on the crew and her watch passes without incident.
Jenna's watch passes with slight difficulty. The human cannot really see beyond the lights on deck but thanks to the aarakocra crew she's kept informed of the Scorched Sea around them. There's a fair wind and the rest of her watch passes easily enough.
When Selinae comes on deck from her resting place below and swaps with Jenna. The goliath is less attuned with the desert than ever before and notices very little. Then half way into her watch, Selinae falls asleep at her post. The crew is at a position where she cannot see the Goliath so the aarakocra does not know to wake her watch companion.
Moving out over the deck after finding no resistance the twins make quick work of the aarakocra on crew tossing their body overboard as Grim takes over steering. These marauders caring little for those remaining on board.
OOC everyone below deck and Selinae to make a perception check with disadvantage.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Selinae remains asleep. She is woken however with the sharp pain in her belly and then in her side as Thorn stabs her twice with his poisoned assassin blades.
Assassinate attacks against Selinae
Attack 1: 14 Damage: 6; the target must make a DC 15 Constitution saving throw, taking 16 poison damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. If failed Selinae will have the poisoned condition.
Attack 2: 20 Damage: 2
Sneak attack :13
Jenna hears an odd scuffing on desk but is the only one who notices it seems as below deck remains silent as she can only assume is the continued slump of her companions, crew, and new passengers.

Everyone below deck it will take a full two rounds of double dashes to get onto the top deck where the hostilities are taking place. Jenna however is the only one below that is aware there's movement on deck but she is unsure what. It was Selinae falling out onto the deck with a thud.
Jenna lays for a moment listening to the noises above. She closes her eyes briefly, then conscious of the fact that they have strangers onboard she decides to go investigate. She pulls on her armour and grabs her weapons before heading cautiously up to the deck. Jenna glances around quickly, looking over to where she left Sel on watch.
