Esvaris: As you point to your double and the double points at you, the creature's head whips back and forth in panic at the sudden appearance of more potential threats. It slashes at your double with its right hand claws.
Claw attack:13 dmg: 5
Demoiselle: Stepping just outside the front door, you hear sounds coming from the woods near where you entered the clearing. Then you notice an area in front of the house where the grass is torn and shredded and it looks like something wet, possibly blood, has soaked the ground in several places. Next to it, straps torn, you see Friar Bernard's pack, ripped down one side and its contents partially scattered nearby.
Esvaris: The creature is confused by your duplicate as its sharp claws pass through it with no effect. It crouches in a defensive posture, struggling not to give in to the seething rage that rises at the sight of non-reptilian creatures.
Quill: It nods in response. The boy covers his mouth, eyes going wide. "I knew it! I knew it had to be that water! Usoara must hate us to curse Da like that." Tears form in his eyes.
Demoiselle comes rushing to the location where the others are facing the beast. Just as she arrives, she sees the elf, Esvaris directly in front of her, then suddenly he dissipates into thin air. Turning to the person beside her, she realizes in shock that this is also Esvaris.
Then a low hiss comes from the frightening man-faced reptilian creature. It takes several steps backwards from the growing group of you and closer to the trees behind him.
Esvaris and Korlan: (Fassil's wisdom save against being charmed: 20 and save against intimidation: 13)
The old man grits his teeth and fires. (To hit: 21 and damage: 10) The snake creature rocks back from the blow. His son screams. Then everything becomes a chaotic blur as Fassil frantically reloads and the creature knocks the boy aside with one powerful scaly arm and rushes forward to attack. (Broodguard's multiattack: Claw 1 23 (5dmg), Claw 2 21 (5dmg), Bite 23 (6dmg) ) Raking the old scout open with his viciously slashing claws, the creature then opens its fanged maw and crushes Fassil's face in a sickening crunch. He throws what's left of the man down on the ground and turns in a hostile crouch ready to defend against any incoming attacks. The boy is not moving, face down in the dirt.

Demoiselle let out a ripe oath in her native tongue and pulled the boy away from the action. She checked to see if the lad was outright dead or simply wounded.
Medicine check: 12
If the boy is still alive Demoiselle will cast Cure Wounds for 5 healing.
I am shocked by the display. I interpose myself between the creature and Demoiselle and the boy. "Not cool," I say, "I mean, I get it. That guy was kind of a jerk, but still. Not cool." I take the Dodge action, brandishing my quarterstaff.

Whipping its head side to side, the creature tries to see his son, despite Esvaris and Demoiselle standing between them. He hisses at the two of them and then, voice rising with every word, he says, "musssst guaaard my... egg!" The boy's eyes go wide as he clutches at Demoiselle's right arm.

Demoiselle attempts to calm the transformed father. "Be calm, your own attack hurt him but I have healed him. There is nothing to be worried about. Nothing to worry about..." She said in a soothing tone of voice.

"The water in the pool was poison?" Quill asks, hoping to distract the creature.
And that's all I have to say about that.

"Hey!, don't do that" I say to the creature as he swipes my double.

Demoiselle cursed in her native tongue and rushed to where the sounds were coming from, hoping to be able to salvage the situation.
Quill frowns.
"I do not think that it is Usoara doing this," he tells the boy kindly.
"But we'll figure things out. Do you know where Friar Bernard went?" he asks the others.
And that's all I have to say about that.

I turn to Fassil with a stern look. "I damn near killed you once old man! I won't hesitate to do it again! Leave it be until the snake draws blood."

"Like I said, everyone," he says in an almost sing-song tone, falsely cheerful,
"Let's not fight right now, please?"
And that's all I have to say about that.

“If he’s going to attach his own son, he must be too far gone. But I’m drawing a line. He attacks one of us, Fassil excluded, I will not hesitate....”
