The courtyard is choked with thick weeds and debris of old tools etc. Will take Fael and anyone else who wants to search about an hour. It can be incorporated into a short rest.
Fael spends a lot of time sniffing around, pawing and the earth, and eventually finds the bodies of both teenage girls murdered by their father. Their clothes stopped the bones from being scattered, although the skulls were a short distance from the rest of the bodies. Grimbald and RL are both surprised, their knowledge of nature would lead the to expect the bones to be scattered and clothing ripped and torn- which would have happened with forest animals eating the corpses. But it seems not to have happened. It appears natural animals did not want to come to this place.
Fael is not interested in the corpse of the large crow, wrinkling up his nose and showing his teeth in disgust. This does not appear to be a natural animal, rather one warped by necrotic energy, maybe even undead.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
RL will poke around in the buildings to the east and loot the zombies if thats not already been done. He will ritually cast detect magic before he wanders through, just in case
Also found in the undergrowth is the body of another young man. This is Paal, friend of Danner. Panner looks like he has been killed by repeated blows by something with spikes.
"I don't remember, Gods, I don't remember," Danner sobs. "Did I do that when I was under the willowhaunt's spell? Or did the tree do it?"
Everyone can see he is wracked with guilt. Danner takes off Paal's backpack and lays his friend out on the ground, away from all the shrubs and weeds. The backpack contains practical items, food, water, mess kit, rope and grapple (made from an anchor), bedrolls, and sacks.
Danner sits down. "I don't think I want to be a delver anymore," he says in a small voice.
The zombies and the wight are surprisingly wealthy, at least in terms of the Harkenwold today. There is a total of 55 gold pieces in the coinage of the Nerath empire. Gold, not silver! The wight had the bulk of it, but the zombies had some too. There are also 80 silver pieces and 180 copper pieces.
The northernmost room RL thinks was probably a workshop for various crafts, an old, rusty anvil, an empty furnace and rotten bellows, old tables and scraps that could once have been leather, various unidentifiable bits of equipment.
The middle room is an old guardhouse containing mouldy remains of bunkbeds and empty chests.
The dead horse - no more than bones - makes the southernmost room's purpose clear - stables. But... RL's detect magic spell indicates there is something magical on the ground but inside the horse's ribcage.
RL casually steps back and avoids the spears which jut out of the earth (as he got a natural 20 going to say he takes no damage). The spears also have bells on them that jingle merrily. Obviously this would have alerted the wight and zombies if the party had not had a fight in the courtyard.
RL will pick up the pipes and head back to join the others. He will go up to Vakiel and present the long bow, not sure how good this is but maybe it will help.
RL will then show the pipes to Esa, I know they are magical but what do they do please?
Esa takes the pipes, big in her tiny hands and flies over to a rock and lies the pipes flat on it. She stands next to the pipes and touches them while she closes her eyes. Her runic tattoos begin to glow, not all at once, but a couple at a time. After a while one stays glowing while the others take turns to glow briefly as if searching for a combination. After about 10 minutes four of her runic tattoos remain glowing, and the pattern hunting seems to have stopped.
Vakiel will take the bow from RL wondering what he thinks it will help with, but figuring the little Druid must need help carrying it. He will sling it across his back ensuring it doesn’t obstruct his sword or javelin access.
RL will nod back to Vakiel like he has done a good thing.
RL would like to walk around the outside of the tower with detect magic running to see if he can pick anything up from inside the tower. Starting from outside the fence to the west, around the north at the top then continue right the way around the outside of the compound to join up with the party at the south entrance to the courtyard.
He will share any findings from the walk and offer the pipes to Augustin, Grimbald and Vakiel to see if any of them are able to play it?
Augustine continues with ceremony. Hopefully uninterrupted. He’s hoping the others scouting is going well. And maybe they can find the remaining two bodies. He encourages Fael to keep an eye out and continue just run circles keeping an eye out.

So how are you doing this? Just casting ceremony over the bones, or digging graves and then burying the bones then doing ceremony?

Looking around the courtyard allows you to see into the ruined buildings on the east side.

The party can search/explore the buildings to the east where the wight and zombies came from, or head into the tower.
Or just go home.
The crying from the tower starts up occasionally and stops after a while. Only Vakiel looks up to the tower when it starts.

Perception check if required9

RL would like to pocket the loot on behalf of the party.
He would like to carefully move the horses ribs and other debris aside with his quarter staff trying to find the magical source
RL springs a trap as spears are suddenly thrust from under the horse corpse.
Need a DC 13 Dex save from RL please, or take 4 piercing damage. Take half damage (round down) on a successful save.
RL dex save 6
Also RL would have grabbed the long bow from the wight to give to Vakiel when he gets back.

RL pokes around with his quarterstaff and uncovers a set of strange pipes.

"These are pipes of haunting," she says, looking smug.
RL can play the pan flute but will see if anyone else in the party has more use for the pipes. Anyone want them?

Nothing registers from the detect magic. So either nothing, or it's being blocked by 1ft or more of stone.
