Augustin (wearing his bloodied cloak) suggests circling around the town and trying to ambush the caravan leaving the town. A frontal assault may lead to a bit of a disaster, particularly with goblins and the like hiding in god knows how many towers and hidey holes. He strongly suggests a sneaky sneaky approach and taking out raiding parties out in the fields. If the villages are holed up underground, they are going to be safe for a short period of time. He doesn't know much about goblins, but he is hoping to scare them off if they cause enough trouble around the place.
IF we know which way they will head out of town, and we leave now, could we find a spot out of town (and out of earshot) to lay an ambush? Grimbald would like to hide in a tree and do an aerial assault. <likely more of a drop-bear than flying squirrel assault>
That sounds like a plan, if its part of the hour the owl is around then that can provide top cover and locate a suitable copse of trees or some other feature that would work as an ambush site on the path that the humans are going to take
There's plenty of copses of trees, ruins, abandoned farm buildings just off the track but nothing the track passes through, so drop bear tactics not really an option. Surprise ranged weapon attack is an option though.
There's only two established tracks for the cart to leave by. One is towards Albridge, the route you came by, the other is their most likely departure route, the path to Harken. The cart being loaded is near the track to Harken. They look they are probably going to leave within the hour.
We look to be taking on all spell casters.... ..... ...
but if that is our course of action lets go on at least a mile out of town, I Imagine we look to engage them in hand to hand asap? a location with multiple hide points very close to the road so that we dont get smashed by one area of effect spell. Was there anything suggesting a leader amongst them? can we pick them out in a fight?
Movvement on the edge of the village, and flies across the few houses that block line of sight. Here the owl sees five humans, one in robes, the rest armoured, loading furniture, chests, and various loot - rugs, household items, and food - you wouldn't be surprised if it all came from the Elder's house - onto a cart where a horse waits patiently to draw it. There is also one dog like creature with metal skin and glowing eyes staying next to the robed human. It looks like the Iron Circle are pulling out, leaving just the goblins and lizard creatures to occupy the ruined village.
One spell caster and 4 warriors plus 1 metal dog. Definately take out the spell caster first. Stryke likes the 1 mile out of town ambush. That dog is against the natural order.
About a mile out of town there is an abandoned farmhouse a few dozen yards from the track (a bit less than 80ft). The fey owl can see it when Stryke sends it up for a reconnaissance flight. It has a door (broken in) and windows facing the track.
Augustin will make himself a bit known on the road, perhaps trying to look like a beggar, someone going about their business. So he can get up close and personal with the spell boys, he expects nothing to go wrong with this plan at all and is relying on his peers :)
maybe a mudmap is required to lay the ambush? Grimbald looking for a suitably sized tree nearby. Augustin on the road. and the building. Any other cover available?

Ok will have to wait until I can get home and get on the computer.
Other cover available is a stone fence, wooden gate close to the road. The big oak tree on the farm side of the fence. And the farm building some distance away.
Augustin with his bloody robe over his armour which includes a hood looks like a big peasant. He will definitely get their attention. What will he be doing when the cart comes along?
What will Esa be doing?
Grimbald is up a tree about 20 feet from the track. All the squirrels come to climb on him and move about, tugging his beard and investigate his pack.
Vakiel and Fernie will be hiding behind the stone fence, they cannot be targeted or seen. They might sneeze, or shift about at the wrong moment. But still get advantage on their stealth.
Stryke cannot be 30ft from the road and still hide as the stone fence is 20ft from the road. But he can be 30ft from Augustin just by being a little further away behind the fence.

Do you want to send Fernie back to Albridge now?
my answer would be no, if we do the ambush we will need her to take the cart back to Albridge. Anyone else have an opinion?

concentrated on spell caster, then metal dog, then warriors. do you have a good area of effect spell that we should let off first?
Moonbeam :)

IF there is a large enough tree for Grimbald, closer to the track, he will spend time concealing himself and preparing to fire.
Augustin will make himself a bit known on the road, perhaps trying to look like a beggar, someone going about their business. So he can get up close and personal with the spell boys, he expects nothing to go wrong with this plan at all and is relying on his peers :)

There is. A big oak tree. With squirrels.
Ok will have to wait until I can get home and get on the computer.
Other cover available is a stone fence, wooden gate close to the road. The big oak tree on the farm side of the fence. And the farm building some distance away.
Now we enter Grimbald's domain
Stryke will crouch down and hide behind the stone fence about 30 ft or so from the road if possible, further away if not.
Stealth check if required. 4
Im presuming we can stealth with advantage given advanced planning?
Yep stealth with advantage.

Stryke cannot be 30ft from the road and still hide as the stone fence is 20ft from the road. But he can be 30ft from Augustin just by being a little further away behind the fence.
