Grimbald's bolt is deflected by the ankheg's armoured plates.
There's piles of garbage, poop, remains of creatures, Grimbald can take cover behind one. But there are also fire beetles here about as big as medium sized dogs, now on alert and come rushing towards Grimbald.
The ankheg hisses in pain as the javelin pierces it's chitinous armour. It's taken a few hits but not bloodied yet.
It rears up and brings its claws down on the bestial spirit. If it hits the bestial spirit is grappled.

The guiding bolt from RL hurts the creature and it glows with the magic, making it easy to hit in the dark cavern. The bestial spirit jumps on it, like a squirrel running along branches of a tree, gets to the ankheg's head and proceeds to crack it open as if it was opening a nut. The ankheg rears and shudders and falls to the ground.
Between you all the fire beetles are quickly taken care of as well.
Esa finally stretches her wings out, presumably startling Augustin in the process. "As expected, they've stirred up the hornet's nest. If you hear movement coming your way, hide. You're in no shape to battle. If it's us, we will call out to you."
She flies from his shoulder swiping one of his torches, and descends into the burrow holding the torch in front of her with Mage Hand.
All those in the Ankheg Burrow are in the garbage room.
RL will say 'my owl saw something shiny in this room when we were scouting before, can anyone find it please and does anyone know if the hide of this thing is useful for armour or anything else?'
RL will ritually cast locate animals or plants to see if there is another Ankheg within 5 miles.
RL gets a return on his locate spell although the reading is not the same. He thinks maybe the spell is detecting an immature ankheg. The closest ankheg or immature ankheg is 120ft away to the south west.
Does anyone want take up RL's suggestion and dig through the piles of refuse, compost, rotting material?

The squirrel easily dodges the claws.

In the garbage room there is the ankheg, the bestial spirit, and some fire beetles.
RL and Vakiel are side by side about 20ft from the melee.
Augustin and Esa are outside standing next to the entrance, listening with some concern at the sounds of battle.

Grimbald will squirrel through the rubbish
Esa will cast Detect Magic and fly around the piles
Vakiel will attempt to recover his Javelin and kick a few things around to see what’s under
Between them, Esa and Grimbald find the following:
Nothing magical is detected.
