Drex's bolt of fire flies towards the mummy... only to go wide.

"The Doomvault... Probably full of unicorns and rainbows." -An imaginary quote
Gordon stands his ground, looking down at the mummy just within his reach, before reaching out to strike with his eldritch energies. The first attack lands solid, knocking the mummy onto its rear and snapping its head back so it barely hangs on by a decayed muscle or two. The follow-up pierces the undead's torso, causing it to twitch uncontrollably before finally collapsing into rotted flesh, bones, bandages and trinkets.
As the adventurers examine their surroundings, the wind dies down a bit, and the sun suddenly seems to shine brighter. Before their eyes, the remains of the twig blights and the mummy all decay with unnatural speed, and quickly sink into the ground, eventually disappearing. Soft, almost angelic music seems to drift from somewhere, as a glow appears from within the keep, shining past the ajar door.
(( What now? ))
(( The party can examine anything nearby, although the only thing left of their opponents is a pile of trinkets and baubles where the mummy was struck down. Obviously, the inside of the keep beckons.... ))
"Do you have to do anything with the mummy's remains to make sure it doesn't become undead again?"
(( Just FYI, there are no remains; the creatures all decayed into dirty ash, and sank back into the soil. An Arcana Check might explain the unusual event... ))
"They don't look it," began Locke with a sigh of disappointment. "My trade is jewels, and sadly, nothing of value seems to be in that pile. Still, I am curious."
With that, the merchant knelt and looked over the baubles. Most were various non-precious stones, polished and attached to various mundane settings as if to make jewelry: strips of leather or twine, pig iron fasteners, settings of wood, and such. However, several somewhat unique pieces were among the polished stones.
(( Trinket rolls:
Will take the first seven that are not duplicates and could reasonably be attached to a mummy as makeshift "jewelry":
- An enormous iridescent scale, about the size of a large book, with a hole punched in and string run through; possibly from a dragon? - A rope necklace from which dangles four mummified drow fingers - A silver spoon with "Truth" engraved into the handle, and twine wrapped around to form a sort of necklace - A gnome-crafted lamp, about the size of a large pine cone, with a tiny, complex mechanical canary inside that flaps and turns its head as the lamp is moved - A simple brass ring that seems impervious to tarnish - A square silver coin with a round hole in the middle, from an unknown land, with a string through the hole - A (holy?) symbol crafted of iron, with a delicate copper chain going through a loop at the top of the symbol
The merchant snorted. "Nothing worth getting excited about. If anyone wants any of these, have at it."
Faith peers over Locke’s shoulder. “The scale, or the spoon. I have an interest in dragons and truth both, if no one has an objection.” The remark is delivered in passing. Already Faith is turning back to the now open Keep. He appears unsettled by the inviting magic.
As the adventurers enter the keep, it appears to be an ordinary, even modest main room, with two doors to other sections of the keep (one North and one East,) a table, chairs, a counter and cabinets, and a pot-bellied stove. The only oddity is the sphere of light hovering above the table just below the roof, shining bright enough to be noticed from outside during the daytime.
When the last of you enter, the light pulses in sync with an old, wizened voice that comes from it:
"Greetings, adventurers, and welcome to my keep! You have proven yourselves worthy of the treasure I leave behind. Take it, then step into the portal in the next room to be transported back to town."
A simple enough message, and once delivered, the sphere slowly dims into nothingness, while a treasure chest fades into view, as if the illusion of invisibility cast on it has been dispelled.
Inside the treasure chest, which itself looks to be well-crafted and in great shape, you find:
- A bag of beans with 7 beans inside - A potion of hill giant strength - Magical ammo (type of the owner's choice) - 20 pieces - Magical armor (type of the owner's choice) - A total of 565 gold pieces
Faith kneels and looks through the chest and the gold. The magic seems especially potent around the bag of beans, but he has no sense of what they might do.
Still, if he’s learnt one thing it’s that there is no magic he knows which can substitute for better armor when up against a gargoyle’s claws.
“I will gladly forgo any share of gold, for this magical armor,” he says boldly, to the others.

Gordon would also want the armor. (What armor type does Faith wear? Gordon could definitely use some magical plate armor.)

Locke gave a low whistle at the treasure, particularly the magic armor. Then he smiled and shook his head. "Sadly--or maybe fortunately, for you two--I have no real desire for any of these magic items. I'd very much prefer to forgo them all for a larger cut of gold."
He then rubbed his chin as he calculated the four-way split on the coin. "However," he continued, "if that would leave too little gold for everyone else, I'd be willing to take either the potion or that bag of... beans."The merchant frowned as he scrutinized the bag, trying to determine the value of the contents.
