"hard to believe that this woman could house the soul of a god, maybe the strain killed her but left her body as consecrated flesh, a gentle repose. Though I am not one to talk about what is possible with the housing of souls... Which way should we progress?"
Virro considers the woman, thinking about the situation. “There are spells that I’ve heard of that allow one to speak with the dead. This is where it would be of great use. I wish we knew more about her.” He examines the body with the curiosity of an undertaker, looking for signs of embalming, how the body was preserved, whether by chemical or magical means. He walks slowly around the bier, examining each detail.
"Either way is good, I cannot see or hear anyone in either direction", Corlith eventually replies to Ironmaiden's question regarding which way to proceed.
Corlith waits for a moment, looking from Reed and Ironmaiden wandering off to Virro and the rest.
"Time to move on", he says to those not following Reed.
"I guess the fact the body of the lady and the sword are undisturbed means none of the fiends or bandits have made it down this far. I will just go check the secret door is shut, so we don't get a surprise behind us", he says, and heads off to make sure the way down is sealed before catching up with Reed.
Virro confirms to Corlith, “The body is preserved by magical means, not physical, not in the ways I was taught. I don’t know how it was done. I’m sorry, I don’t know anything more about it, or why…”. He heads on with Corlith.

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
Corlith heads back up the many stairs and confirms that the secret panel is indeed closed. He comes back down and finds the group at a crossroads as the north passage ends in a corridor that heads east and west.
To the east, there are two halls that break off to the north and one to the south. To the west there is a hall that goes north and the corridor turns to the south.
"both of these corridors have options to go south effectively turning back on ourselves from a different hallway, I think we should check these southern halls first to make sure they are clear before progressing north, that way we will not be followed and flanked yes?" IM states as more of a testing of their tactical knowledge than anything else. They gesture to the east and then south as an option and if no one disagrees they begin down that path.
"I do not know my original purpose, I believe that this group and Archie's primary intentions have effected that greatly as we have journeyed, aswell as my own growing sentience, of course.
Though if we do manage to find Master Thell then I would be curious. It is odd to look back on how I was before, back when I asked you all what my primary directives were, I was seeking those answers from outside and was answered by Virro, but maybe it was illogical for me to have sough external answers, now I feel like purpose must come from within... It is hard to explain. Perhaps humanoids such as you feel the same?" IronMaiden answers reed and inquires as they move. Always keeping their head on a swivel. (12 perception if needed)
"If we find Master Thell, I'm going to wring her neck." Reya grumbles as they head towards the East.
As they do, there are murmurs that come from that direction. And they grow a bit louder as the group turns the corner to the South. Reed is the first to see that as he continues, the room opens up to a very large crypt area. And as he can see it is presently home to over a hundred frightened people. They cower in masses behind sarcophagi and in alcoves, their eyes red and their cheeks stained with tears.
Standing before a large font is a haggard woman, her gray hair matted with sweat. With one arm, she clutches a leather-bound tome to her breast. In the other hand, she wields a ceremonial mace that would probably shatter if it struck anything harder than a pillow.
She is splitting her time between comforting those that are in the crypt and watching the two entrances into the area. At the moment, with Reed's stealth, she doesn't see him. The others do hear the people.
As soon as Corlith hears Reed engage in conversation with the people, he too carefully moves into view so he can see who they are without spooking them.
He then waits for the reply, also a little suspicious and not willing to take anything at face value just now.
The woman looks to the halfling and tiefling, very surprised to see them. She backs up a bit, but tries her best to sound resolute and a bit defiant. "I.. I don't really know. If there are, they haven't found us, thank the gods. Bless Torm."
She pauses a moment, then asks, "Who might you be? You took care of the devils and bandits? Really?" She comes back the few steps she took, an inkling of hope becoming apparent.
Corlith nods, "We certainly took care of a fair few hostiles. Bandits, devils, hounds. We have also found a number of folk from out in the city and brought them here, hoping it would be a safe haven. I guess we were mistaken".
"We are looking for the Elturel's leaders. Judging by your predicament I assume you aren't privy to their whereabouts?".
IronMaiden cocks a head at Reya's remark on Master Thell. Then they whip their head around trying to find focus on some unheard voice. "Who was that talking just then, Zariel was a good force in their life? Hello?".
The warforged stays out of sight of the people for the time being, letting the other more charismatic members of the party take lead there.
Lulu beats her wings a bit more emphatically at IronMaiden, then follows Corlith and Reed into the main room.
"Elturel's leaders?" The mace she is holding she lets it drop at her side, the weight of the thought almost too much to bear. "They are all dead. I'm all that is left, and I'm just acolyte." Tears start flowing as she continues, "I'm trying my best to keep these people safe! You say there are more? Well they are welcome here, but I don't know if this place is safe or not.. have you been everywhere? I don't know what else to do?!"
She waves her hand at the two wide fonts that are located in the middle of the room. "I do have holy water. A lot of it." She backs up and leans against one of the many pillars.

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
Corlith listens to the story of the lady, and watches Virro examine her, hoping he isn't going to take a souvenir.
"Unfortunately I am unable to tell if it is magical", he replies to Reed with regards the sword.
He waits in a position to see north and south, making sure nothing appears to surprise them.
"Either way is good, I cannot see or hear anyone in either direction", Corlith eventually replies to Ironmaiden's question regarding which way to proceed.
Reed gives one more look at the sword but leaves it, then heads up the 'north' passage, looking and listening.
"that way it is then" IronMaiden nods and follows Reed.

Corlith looks to the east and then west, seeing what it is that Ironmaiden is talking about.
"Makes sense to me", he says, looking ahead to Reed who is the one takes the lead in these situations.
Reed trots along with Iron Maiden, wondering about the combat vocabulary.
"You a fighting machine then?" Reed asks. "I mean obviously you've been doing a lot of fighting with us but was that what you were designed for?"
He slinks ahead to see if there's anything down the south passage (south from the red x - Stealth if needed : (16+11) = 27)

Reed steps out of the shadows though raises a hand quickly in greeting, and keeps his hands from his sword and bow.
"Hi," Reed says cheerily. "We took care of the devils and bandits upstairs. Are there any more down here?"
While trying to appear friendly, he still wonders if this might be a trick and if the group were a bunch of devils in disguise (Perception: 7+9 = 16)
As soon as Corlith hears Reed engage in conversation with the people, he too carefully moves into view so he can see who they are without spooking them.
