Eyes of the Grave shows a bit of an amorphous undead presence in the chamber you saw the miner etch the symbol but in the chamber behind the secret entrance there is no undead.
The runes in the dead sorcerer's ritual aren't exactly a language to be deciphered or comprehended, exactly. You can pick up a few things like a symbol for Power and one that is something along the lines of Consumption or Absorbtion... But magic is complicated, intricate and personal. Every wielder of any significance makes it their own. Cantrips, low level spells, there is little need to adjust these things beyond what they are... But rituals and higher level things by definition are a part of the caster as much as they are part of the weave and thus do not directly translate. ((Also, I don't know how the wording of a particular spell or ritual would go so it is best to keep it vague and mysterious.)).
The "taste" of the magic in this chamber is many flavored and stale. Your sense is that this chamber was this person's own personal safe space in the mines and where they did their magics and rituals and that over time those energies became infused with the stone here. Perhaps if the door had been left open they would have dissipated more but enclosed like this... I would posit that Raevyn would come to the assumption that this was the dude's Sanctum Sanctorum, his Fortress of Solitude, etc. and as such is "of him" to a certain extend and would remain so until properly "aired out" or cleansed. Raevyn wouldn't feel that she would need to cast Detect Magic for safety... But she may be tempted to do so for curiosity's sake.
This is mostly a flavor thing here but... I would say that if Raevyn does cast Detect Magic she would learn more about this chamber but there could be consequences. Mwuahahah...
"Raevyn plucks a tiny seed from her bag and kneels down next to the staff." Raevyn pauses ever so slightly here... To allow others to take actions if they wish but also to consider her plan. Could she mend the staff? She believes she could make the item whole again, perhaps even mend and retain the original etchings along it? But that is questionable... More study and working in her own sanctum with all her tools and objects at hand would give her a lot better chance. And retaining the magic? Reigniting what was once inside of it? That is most definitely beyond the small magics that cantrips can manage. That would need a very skilled craftsperson capable of producing such items...
Krumar - Give me a couple Constitution checks? Just say DC 10. Fail the first one and you just naturally start falling into humming a complimentary melody to that Raevyn is humming. Fail the second and you are unconsciously writing the melody down and thinking it is your own creation!
Krumar standing back watching picking at a hangnail, listens to The doc's humming. Although he doesn't harmonize with her, he believes he could make her jaunty tune a wee bit better. He begins to write in the margins of his journal notes that complement and enhance her song as he taps his foot along creating a tantalizing beat.
Syl practically explodes forward from his quiet lurking at the back of the pack. "Hey now, Miss! Don't... best not be fiddling with that staff just as of yet, eh? This here looks like the last mortal remains of that figure we all saw in those visions at the entrance. I'm just sayin'... probably some bad mojo mixing around in there. And best we let that lie, right? Don't want you turnin' into one o' them listless wights, right?"
He flashes a gap-toothed smile and does his best to give her a 'please don't touch that and let's get the bloody hells out of here' look.

Nefire feels a bit out of her element here. She watches, a bit mesmerized, as Raevyn does her thing. If she doesn't see another way into the cavern, she'll step back out and keep watch while the others check out the old sorcerer.
Raevyn pauses at Syl’s prompt. She was being cautious, however she respects the old sailor and the insight he brought to the team. “It does appear to be the mortal remains of the sorcerer.” She agrees with him. “I do not sense any undead presence within this room.” She also notes. “However, it’s worth mentioning that he does not have the Grunstein (greenstone) in his chest.” The Doctor points out amongst the dried out remains the wound in his chest.
Other than those observations, Raevyn is as satisfied with her review as she can be. From Syl’s caution, she reserves her magic. Should she be able to carefully collect all the pieces of the staff, she would, and pack it away for later review. She’d be ready to move on with the others.
Krumar stands with Syl figuring if things go sour they could run out the cave together. "So this is the guy who's stuck somewhere in this cave spirtually stuck and who has caused all the grief here? Maybe a proper burial will help the restless spirit? I thnk I read that somewhere"
As Raevyn appears to be going ahead with picking up the pieces of the staff, Syl's eyes bulge.
"Please... don't touch those, Miss. Please...".
His eyes dart from Raevyn to the far, dark recesses of the room, as if expecting the shadows themselves to attack at any moment.

Raevyn inhales a breath, then exhales. She resigns. She comes to stand, leaving things be and accepting other’s time she’s wasted, then gestures to the door for others to lead the way to where they want to go and what they wish to do. She clicks her tongue for Pauwau to follow.
Are we leaving everything where it is then? The staff, the body, the ritual items? The chest hidden by the opened secret door?
Without touching anything (I'll let you all decide if you wish to do that) you can see that amongst the items placed in the ritual design are a couple of gems (an emerald, a sapphire and an uncut diamond) which definitely do not seem from this mine, a small silver amulet carved with one intricate rune which Raevyn can read as "Cold" or "Snow" as her Comprehend Languages is still being concentrated on, a lock of hair bound in a ribbon and a cameo necklace with the silhouette of what seems to be a woman with snakes for hair. Raevyn, being able to ritually cast some spells yourself you know that, depending on the spell being cast, the items in such a ritual circle or other design are often symbolic and personal to the caster. Other times there is a need to use precise items or items of a certain value or power level...
The chest is more of a trunk, size wise. It is pushed back halfway into a recess in the wall which allowed the door to swing almost fully open and thus blocked it from view. It is shut and the latch does have a key hole so it could be locked... But one would need to try it to find out.
However, if you decide it best to leave this accidental tomb undisturbed and carry on exploring the mines, there is the passageway Nefire and company started exploring to the west that turned north and then shortly after branched off into several directions. Or you could, of course, always head back the way you came and leave...
Syl, after having chased Raevyn away from the broken pieces of staff, reaches into the sack on his hip and roots around until he produces... another sack, empty. He sets it on the ground and, holding one end up to keep it open, uses his boot to carefully kick the different pieces of the broken staff into the sack. Once they are all there, he hurriedly ties the sack shut tightly, and then holds it out away from him like it contains a venomous snake.
"We can... figure out what to do with this later." He still looks abjectly terrified.

Dabbert watches as all this unfolds and keeps his eyes open to make sure that no one and nothing is sneaking up on them. He keeps an eye on Syl, watching as the saltdog drops a bag on the ground then uses his boot to push the ritual items into it.
"Well done." Is all he says for the moment, giving Syl a nod.
As Nefire makes her way to the next tunnel, he steps back, wanting to make sure he falls into a position in the party where he can get to her for aid, or move to the rear if something comes up behind them.
"I've been thinking about the uh...suggested burial." He says as they move, referring back to the body of the sorcerer. "Jog my uh...memory here. Are the locals still wanting to use this mine when we're done? Does anyone know? Because otherwise, I say we uh...collapse it when we leave and leave it as a barrow."
Krumar looks at the expensive looking gems just lying around and wonders....Who would know if one went missing...Maybe if they bury the bones....All these thought swirl in his head...He can't help himself. He looks closely at the ritual design to see if he knows what's going on before he decides to take a gem
Krumar figures the magic has long since disappeared from whatever ritual this was. Thinking about the value of the gems just sitting there on the ground.....he thinks to himself that no one would miss them and what it could do for the group, if he shares it, for lodgings....He looks at the others who seem to be moving away towards a different tunnel and picks up the emerald, sapphire and uncut diamond
“Sure.” Raevyn replies simply in regards to the now bagged staff in Syl’s possession.
“Considering how the locals scoffed at my assumptions, there’s no desire from them to return here.” The doctor shares her thought in response to Dabbert’s question.
Nefire would feel a gentle touch on her shoulder. Raevyn would then motion to the locked chest hiding within the recess behind the door. If she wasn’t mistaken, Nefire carried lock picking tools and may have some interest in investigating the locked trunk.
Syl has no problems sweeping the staff pieces and shards into the sack with his foot. He's none too subtle about it but that didn't seem to be the point and he immediately feels calmer once it is contained in the sack and in his possession. He still feels a sense of purpose but it's a subtle buzzing at the back of his brain instead of an urgent push.
Dabbert, in some quick consultation with Raevyn and the others, recalls that this mine has been abandoned for a long time and only the desperate and foolish came here to scrape for whatever dregs were left behind. The mine was seen as fools gold for the crazy and the desperate and for years and years many of the few who came here never returned, locals believing they either had accidents of had really just hoofed it out of town looking for better lives elsewhere. The people of Eisloch likely wouldn't care a whit what came of these mines if you could devise a way to collapse them... But as per Maestro, High Kind Vaire is very interested in the tales that the Greenstone was recently discovered here.
As Krumar bends down to pick up the first jewel he hears a bit of a scuffling... Pausing and looking around he notices that Jaylan is shuffling their feet a bit and that's all that was. With a bit of relief he goes back to picking up the jewels and has no problems at all. All combined, depending where and who you try selling them to, they would be worth between 200 and 600 gold...
There remains the chest, an amulet, a lock of hair, a cameo and the possibility of giant ice spiders on the ceiling above you. Do we wish to do more here or are we continuing on through the mines?
I was joking about the giant ice spiders... They're not on the ceiling of this room.
Krumar stands up and whistles a bit holding out the jewels. He puts them in his little chest of goodies and throws it back into his bag. "Alright then up next is the amulet" Krumar mutters to himself as he bends down over the amulet. "Well looky here...Wonder if this is worth anything"
Krumar figures the amulet is going to be worth something since it's old and antiquey....He picks that up and puts it in his chest as well. He looks at the rest of the stuff laying around. "Uh right I don't need old hair but the necklace....Ah what the hell" Krumar takes the necklace as well placing it in his chest of goodies. "Alright now that that's all done...." He looks at the others to see if they noticed him. He figures they didn't, he's only the bard afterall. He moves away towards a wall and leans against it "Well then what next is it?"
Syl makes no question about his intentions. He moves back out of the room into the prior chamber, ignoring any chests and gems left there. He avoids eye contact with the others and mutters quietly to himself about the deep dark of the abyss, and why nothing can ever just be 'nice.'

A bit surprised by the light touch, Nefire quickly looks up at Raevyn, then follows her direction towards the chest that is hiding within the recess behind the door.
Thinking she understands her friend, Nefire happily walks back into the room and as she stands over the locked chest, she holds her greataxe over her head and then brings it down hard on the lock, figuring she'd try that before the chest itself.
