Noticing his hand, Braxiel had a sinking feeling that she had seen a similar shape in one of the books he had recently read, but he couldn't remember which one. Reluctantly, he allowed Rylia to examine the mysterious tattoo on his hand. She leaned forward and studied the symbol closely. She seemed to notice a very subtle movement within its intricate lines, but soon the bright purple color captivated her, and she distracted herself by admiring it. Brother Coltinar, always a curious scholar, also analyzed the tattoo, which remained nothing from the original tattoo that the three of them got last night. His keen eye saw the shape of an inverted "L" with strange details at each end, resembling tiny heads of snakes. It seemed to him that these serpentine elements were subtly and gradually sliding toward Braxiel's forearm. The cleric felt a sense of déjà vu, as if he had seen this pattern before in his studies, but like the others, he could not pinpoint where or when.
Bryn (DM rolled history 15 gamelog), seeing Rylia and Coltinar analyzing Braxiel's hand, takes a look. When he sees the inverted L-shape, the shape reminds him, if not inverted, of the Shadow Dragonmark, which he knows to be the mark of the Houses Phiarlan and Thuranni.
"You don't seem very comfortable with the idea, My name is Dara, by the way! Pleasure to meet you" The armorer comments, her voice calm and firm, her metallic features expressing concern.
Arber enters the conversation: "Not solving this problem could have unpredictable consequences. It could lead to a malfunction at a critical moment, for example during a battle. However, I understand your fear of losing your identity."
Dara nods in understanding. "Perhaps I have an interim solution in mind. Give me a few minutes to check my stored materials. I may have something that could work."
Arber agrees to Dara's suggestion and takes the opportunity to lead Arr through a door at the back of the armory, saying, "Come, Arr. Let´s wait here. I would like to talk to you... in private."
The past of Arr
In the isolated room, Arber begins the conversation cautiously. He begins by confirming the memories that Arr has from the past. After Arr's confirmation, Arber continues: "It is noble that you wish to preserve the essence of your identity, Arr. It is make completely sense" He looks to the floor while smiles. "However, there are some additional information that you are not aware of, and that I must share with you so that you know who you really are."
"You are unique among the warforged, a one-of-a-kind creation of Merrix D'Cannith and Lia D'Jorasco.
Arber explains that Merrix D'Cannith and Lia de Jorasco were lovers. Both their relationship and their projects together were closely guarded secrets of their families. Apart from the two of them, only Arber, an artificer from House Jorasco and an ally of Lia's whom Arber never met, knew what they were developing. When Lia appeared, she gave new meaning to Merrix's dream. She was a great necromancer who dedicated her last days to helping him on that. Lia was said to manipulate life through time portals, but she died before this could be proven. Her supernatural powers and great ability to manipulate the essence of life added vital energy to Merrix's arcane magic. And that's how they developed such a special batch of warforges.
"There were others similar to you, but none exactly like you." Arber pointed out spoking that Arr had reacted to Lia's magic in a surprising, positive and unique way.
"You have a human heart, Arr," Arber reveals. "Not metaphorically speaking. I mean, you have a real and special heart, intricately woven around a rare dragonshard stone from Syberys, inside your chest!"
After a long pause the artificer explains that this special composition gives Arr some special natural qualities. Basically, different ways of dealing with emotions and feelings, but there may be other unknown effects as well. It gave the strengths of the warforged and nature, but also introduced certain vulnerabilities. "Arr', your body has a high concentration of arcane energy, but the fluids that flow through it are a mixture of vital energy and, the Cannith´s and the Jorasco´s blood."
"They may have reached the perfection they wanted, but the Cyre incident killed them first. They and everything they were developing. Everything was destroyed. All other Warforged of their kind were killed."He sighed. "You were the only one to somehow survive. I've been puzzled as to how that could have happened ever since I first saw you. My theory is that perhaps you were rescued by Lia's ally in one of her time portals, it's the only thing that seems logical to me, although logic doesn't have much place in all of this. The fact, the happy fact, is that you survived, that you're here.
"But you weren't quite ready when the Cyre incident happened. That's why I'm so worried. I'm afraid that you might have some unexpected malfunction. I'd like to protect you completely. But I can't, you're a citizen of Sharn now, master of your own life and your destiny. And I'm happy about that. So all I can do is offer you what I can to make you a bit safer. I'm sure Dara can find a way to fix your shoulder without changing your entire upper armor. She's the head of the armorers and the most skilled among them. But I would like at least to offer you a protective disk to connect over your chest to protect your heart and your dragonshard, if you don´t mind..."
.
Arr thank Dara for her concern about their doubts and for trying to find a solution that works and respects their wishes. Then they follow Arber, who acts like an old friend, but really Arr’s memory of him is limited to a dream they experienced near death. Still, a sensation of trust washes over Arr when Arber speaks with them about their past and origin.
Arr silently and strenuously takes in Arber’s recount of their past and creation. They gasp and their hand shoots up to touch their breastpiece when it is revealed to them that they have a real human component, and a real heart no less. And even blood. “But… but… don’t the others have hearts and blood? Are… are we still a real Warforged?” When Arber replies in negative to the first but positive to the latter, Arr take a moment to let it sink in. “You mean Generations 1 and 2 were like us? We think they might have been taken when we were left behind. Perhaps that actually saved us, since we remained to be rescued by someone else. We dreamt that, or perhaps it was a vision into the past?”
They nod excitedly to Arber’s proposition to reinforce their vital organs, something they weren’t aware that they had until moments ago, “Master Arber, we will gladly accept a disk for additional protection. And it will not reduce our identity but reinforce it, too. Thank you so much for telling us this.”
Sorry, I'm beginning to enter a vacation period and while I will try to check-in at least daily, I cannot promise that I will always be able to do so. From September 1, I should be back to normal.
Arber's reply was filled with a reassuring tone. "Arr, you are indeed a true Warforged. You just have special abilities that allow you to better understand humans and those of flesh and blood." About generations 1 and 2 were more or less like you. But you were the only functional one in Generation 3.
"You know... although the region was forbidden, I had ventured to Cyre with a rescue team in an attempt to salvage something after the catastrophic incident. However, we found only shadows and a trail of devastation, a stark reminder of the horrors that had unfolded."
Returning to the main room, Dara waited patiently at a table with various and distinctive metal plates. After several attempts, some adjustments, and a few spells, Dara finally found a piece that seamlessly replaced the damaged shoulder cover. This new piece was made of a slightly different steel, a darker and more exquisite gray. Dara explained that it was adamantite.
Arber, with Dara's assistance, proceeded to place a small disk perfectly in the upper center of Arr's chest. The disk was about the size of a closed fist, with a small translucent gray stone in the center. As Dara worked, she put on two gloves - one slightly rough and the other softer. She explained that these were merely to balance the color between the plates and to remove some rust spots restoring the original color of Arr's plates. The armorer made each move in a friendly and playful manner directed at Arr. "It's going to look quite charming," she joked with a smile.
Arr's cleaned armor now showed a reddish-copper hue that harmonized beautifully with the dark gray of the small plate Dara had attached to her shoulder, which now looked as if that addition had always been a deliberate part of Arr's natural armor.
"Done" Dara says, admiring her own work. "Nice. How are you feeling, Arr? Are you ready to back to your friends?"Arber Asks.
“We think… we think when we saw the others in our dream they looked this color. We didn’t know, we would look the same, or that we could be restored to look… look like new.” Arr study their new reflection as they would a person they’ve never met, or perhaps better, a person they haven’t met in a very long time and only remember from a dusting memory. They gently touch the new shoulder piece and caress the different metal with their large fingers. “Incredibly craftsmanship. We feel… it feels as if it has always been there.” Arr rotate their shoulder while they hold on to the piece. “And I can move better, indeed. Better than before really. Perhaps, it was damaged already before the attack.” Arr bow gratefully, “Thank you, thank you for your help. We do not know if we can ever repay you for your work but should you ever find that there is something that we can do, please let us know. We are in your debt, Master Dara.” Arr turn to Arber, “And in yours, Master Arber. This disk,” Arr’s hand moves to the entirely new addition to his body, “ We’re so grateful for your help — Yes, we are ready to rejoin the others,” Arr say, standing a tiny bit more straight and a slight bit prouder than he would have done a few days ago.

Sorry, I'm beginning to enter a vacation period and while I will try to check-in at least daily, I cannot promise that I will always be able to do so. From September 1, I should be back to normal.
Dara smiled, pleased that Arr was satisfied with the result. She explained that Arr's new disk was enchanted with Absorb Elements, which added an extra layer of protection to the warforged.
Arber, meanwhile, had retrieved a small bag from a nearby cabinet. He handed it to Arr with a kind smile. "Take this; it might help you and your friends," Arber said as he explained its contents. Inside the bag were a Potion of Fire Breath and three small talismans imbued with the [Tooltip Not Found] enchantment.
"Thank you, Dara" Arber thanks Dara for her help. "May Onatar watch over you," he added, while left the room toward the canteen.
Arber make his way towards the canteen with Arr in tow. As they enter, the bustling atmosphere of the cantina greet them. They see simple and functional room. Scanning the place, they first see a corner table with three warforged, and many others with humans, until their gaze finds a violin case, completely dissonant with its surrounding. Closer, they finally spot the couple of small humans, the darked-skin elf, the imposing bright warforged and the very tall kalashtar.
The warforged serving beverages welcome them. "Good afternoon Master Arber, your guests are just over there. May I serve you some refreshing coconut water?"
"This is going to be divine! Thank you, son!" Arber sighs, taking the glass with blue water and some ice."
With a nod to Arr, they head towards the group, meeting with Bryn, Rylia, Braxiel, Paladin, and Brother Coltinar, to share their thoughts and plan their next steps.
"Hey, there!" Exclaim Arber, "I hope you have been able to relax a little."
Once reconvened, he asked, "What do you intend to do now? Is there anything else I can do to help you?"
Bryn replies, "Master Arber, your canteen is excellent, with refreshing food and beverages that cool you down and replenish your energy without weighing you down! as to what's next, I'm ready to roll but I didn't bear the brunt of the last fight. I will leave the decision on when we can continue our travels to my compatriots."
Braxiel will show the tattoo to Master Arber, "I know you have a deep love of magic and knowledge like myself. I have never seen anything like it but it worries me."

Rylia adds, "It's really quite pretty, especially the purple. The way it moves..." She lets her voice drop off as she realizes she's not really being helpful. She is very interested though to see if Arber might have any insight on this.
Can Braxiel make a history check, to see if he has seen this mark before in any of his books.
