Although she gets a bad feeling about it, Roxana focuses on the glaive. "I think we'd better take that glaive. Surely that's the weapon the devil spoke about. I'd rather not leave it for sometime else to use."
She then listens to Spira's information. "I'm not willing to just leave the glaive. But let's try and find this other item. Do you need help to pinpoint it?." Roxana tries looking out on the general area mentioned to see if she notes anything. (Perception: 7)
Ardjena frowns: "An Abjuration in this hall? There never was... The Abjurations focused on the cells, when they were activated by the mystical key... Is it a spell that Kylth cast after I... . have I stopped realizing everything?" but from her tone it is clear that she is the first to not be too convinced by this hypothesis.
Concerning the glaive, meanwhile, Zentromya comments: "The weapons of devils and demons, though forged in an evil realm, are not always magical... sometimes, it is their simple intrinsic evil that, responding to the fiend's wickedness, gives them, while the fiend uses them, special (and usually unpleasant) abilities".
Anyway, by joining forces (and considering that Spira's spell indicates the point from which the aura emanates), the girl from Longsaddle and the Soldier of Angharrad manage to find, practically buried under debris and dirt of all kinds, a miraculously intact silvered scimitar! Furthermore, it is incredibly shiny and clean; the dirt that was hiding it simply slides off of it, once you uncover it - the weapon itself is as shiny as freshly made and perfectly clean.
"Oh, it's Sixefsag! Trokin's silvered weapon..." the apprentice realizes "And magical, to boot, since it's so clean and in such a good state after all it's been through. You can keep it, I guess... Trokin" she saddens a bit, looking at the carnage "does not need it anymore, for sure..."
Aidwyn offers to carry the glaive and can't help to feel a shiver down her spine when she gets it. She puts it tied to her back, sharing Roxana's concerns about leaving it behind and already thinking in melting it.
When the scimitar is discovered she adds.
" whoa that's an impressive weapon there... I definitely can see you Roxana using it..."
When Aidwyn retrieves the Glaive, she can't suppress a sense of revulsion... and not just because she notices that the weapon gives off an inexplicable faint smell of sulfur - it's precisely... the feeling of having it with her that is unpleasant to her (but nothing she can't handle).
To the comment about the 'impressive weapon' Gaer promptly adds: "Indeed, Roxana! Considering your innate stealth and this weapon... you may soon become known as 'Silver Shadow'!"
"Well, I've never used a scimitar," Roxana says slowly, thinking. "It sounds great Gaer, but I'm not sure I know how to use it. I guess I could try it."
(OOC - Scimitar is martial. Rogues only get limited martial, and scimitar isn't one of them.)
(OOC: Oh well, keep it if you want, but you can give it to someone else, if you think they could use it better than you! Aidwyn and Gaer not necessarily know what weapons you are proficient in. Spira for example might be proficient)
Spira looks at the silvery blade with sadness. "A silver crescent doesn't keep everyone safe, it seems. A bitter thing for any priestess who sees their goddess in the mirror of the moon to have to say. Poor Trokin." She pats the handle awkwardly, clearly unfamiliar with such blades. "If you don't find it comes natural to you, I'd be no better a choice of bearer. I'm not nearly experienced enough to have been taught the rites of Sehanine that will someday instruct me how to wield such a blade as this. It's more in Aidwyn's area of expertise, or Gaer, or Solitude. But you gave it a name, Ardjena. Is it one of those rare enchanted weapons I've heard of that are people too; or just a name of honour someone bestowed upon Trokin's blade?"
Rash glances at the scimitar... it is a nice looking weapon. But... it doesn't look like anyone around her has any idea how to use it. That's a shame.
"It kind of sounds like none of us know how to use the scimitar," Rash sighs. "Anita, Solitude, one of you wouldn't have happened to be familiar with scimitars, would you? Not that I'm trying to take it away from Roxanna, of course! Just... you know... if one of us knows how to use the scimitar (and doesn't have a better weapon already) that's probably who should be carrying it until we can divide everything up equitably."
He thinks his reasoning is pretty sound.
"Anyway, I do think it's a good idea to finish searching the place and then come back for books and stuff that we want to cart out. I don't think we've got too many more spots to check."
Ardjena replies to Spira: "Sixefsag is the name with which Trokin always called that weapon... but I don't think the weapon has a personality - he must have simply named it that way - or perhaps he knew it had that name when he acquired it".
Meanwhile, when the half-orc wizard tries to find anyone (aside from Aidwyn) capable of using Sixefsag properly, Anita sadly shakes her head: "No, Rash... I don't have any real martial training... I've never held a weapon like that".
And Solitude: "Me neither. It's obviously a warrior's weapon..." she looks at Aidwyn out of the corner of her eye.
“Indeed!” Gaer interjects "And although I, like Quspira, feel the vocation of the healer, I'm probably warrior enough to brandish it. You know, due to my turbulent pasts, I have learned to use various weapons... and the Scimitar is one of them. In short, it being understood that Aidwyn will probably be more skilled than me with this blade in hand, I too am familiar with it".
Spira meanwhile, galvanized by her latest discovery, continues to search around using the residual power of her own spell... but she makes no new discoveries or findings.
Hearing the proposal to finish searching the place, the apprentice heads towards the only door still closed in the large room: "Only the room of the other two apprentices, Saibren and Lorat, remains..."
Once again, the ghostly hand opens the door, the interior is illuminated and you discover that the 15' x 10' room contains two unmade beds against the north wall - and now connected to it by a curtain of cobwebs, a small closet , with a thick layer of dust on top, against the west wall and a small dusty table with two stools beside it against the east wall. The chairs and the table, perhaps already of poor workmanship initially, are now completely ruined by time, traversed by a web of cracks, and seem on the verge of collapsing into pieces at any moment.
Inside the closet she finds a few spare clothes, 5 scrolls with messy and practically useless notes (on one of them, in addition to the notes, there is a heart drawn that contains the names of Saibren and Lorat), a sort of a pendant (a leather lace that binds a tooth of some big beast) and a small branded leather pouch containing 4cp and 2sp.
"Oh, Sabrien's 'Dragon Tooth Trinket'!" Ardjena comments, as the pendant is found "He was so convinced that it brought good luck... Who knows if it would have changed things if he had worn it this morning... No, silly me," she quickly corrects herself "worn it 245 years ago, during the prison break, I mean..."
"Huh... sounds cool... was this thing actually made out of a dragon's tooth?" Rash asks.
Then he adds, in an attempt to be comforting:
"Let's not assume the worst came to pass... could be that your fellow apprentice made a break for it when he realized just how bad things were and then lived out a long and happy life... hopefully one that didn't involve kidnapping angels and demons to perform cruel experiments on them."
"Anyway," Spira adds after an uncomfortable pause, "you have a chance to take a better path, Ardjena. And since you're the only apprentice of Kylth's here today, I'd say these things should rightly be yours to decide what to do with, if you want to keep any of them or not. But I'd suggest it if you can bear it; your own things are a tad meagre for a fresh start in the world."

Ardjena gives Rash and Spira a look of wonder at first... then grateful: "Thank you for your attempt to help me and comfort me. The rational part of my mind tells me that I could easily remove the doubt about the survival of Saibren and Lorat... It would be enough to examine the remains in this room... If one could identify four bodies with armor and two without, it would be obvious that no one survived. But it is a search that I spare myself. First of all, because I imagine the outcome (they, like me, wouldn't have abandoned Kylth... at least I think so - but even if they had tried, I'm sure Ekandre still wouldn't have spared them, considering they had helped Kylth in the experiments). But secondly, also because knowing it wouldn't change anything now".
"I'll listen to my rational side, then," sighs the apprentice "at least about your offer to keep their things. Yes, they might be useful to me, since I certainly don't have much left. I really have to hope that the Harpells will accept me again (245 years later) as an apprentice. Let's hope that, over time, they haven't become more selective..." she finds the strength to joke, with a half smile.
"That it was a dragon's tooth," the young girl with freckles replies to the half-orc wizard "Saibren assured everybody... but it doesn't give me that impression. Not that I've ever seen a dragon... I bet, however, that the same could be said of Saibren! I... I think it's actually a useless and worthless trinket. If, in doubt, you want to keep it, Rash, go ahead and take it".
"So thank you, good people" Ardjena smiles at you and, since the things are becoming too much for her to carry in her arms, she begins to tie the sleeves of some spare clothes together to create a crude bag - then collects everything in there (except the trinket, if Rash likes to have it). Meanwhile she continues to talk to you: "Anyway, now you've seen everything down here..." (to tell the truth, the apprentice didn't accompany you to visit the alcove with the magic portal... Evidently, she either forgot about it... or doesn't think it's interesting) "And at level 2 there is nothing of real value - it was only thought of as a transition level to receive those who had the right to enter and stop those who didn't. And level 1 houses only the most common services: the kitchen, a common room for eating, the servants' quarters... there is also a Kylth reception room, but I'm sure he didn't keep anything of real value there. So... do we just prepare to sort through the books to save and return to Longsaddle?"
Rash will go ahead and take the trinket... it may well be a fake, but he'll figure that out later.
"Hey, it's what we do," Rash says with a smile. "Anyway... if there's nothing else of value around here, I'd be more than happy to pack everything up, make our book selection, and call it a day... though... there isn't a chance that Kylth might have had any magic staffs sitting around, is there? I'd kind of expect something like that from a wizard who could build a place like this."
