Ardana sees the head distracted by Daisy's sudden transformation and takes the opportunity to deliver a violent downward slash to the head!
A generous portion of rotten meat and frontal bone detaches and splatters on the ground, becoming a foul-smelling mush.
Her head is still floating, but it is clear that she is now severely compromised…
Emboldened, the paladin takes a step forward, hoping to make room for the barbarian, who previously had to retreat to make room for Daisy.
Unfortunately, however, in this way, many enemies will probably be able to get to her... such as for example an undead who wears a now completely oxidized copper ring (Ru) on his left hand. Ring Undead unleashes its hatred for the living on the only living it can currently reach: Ardana...
Guarded by the strength of her faith (and her armor) our heroine emerges unscathed from the hail of blows.
Barakor, meanwhile, would seem to have a great desire to throw himself into the fray together with his mistress, especially now that she has become like him (albeit a little oversized)... but he decides to obey what has been given to him asked and waits, apart, growling.
Meanwhile, enemies continue to climb the spiral staircase: an undead that seems to have (dead) snakes instead of hair comes into view (Su), even if it can't reach anyone yet, while Gnashing Undead, the first that Nim had seen, takes placed alongside Ring Undead and in turn tries to tear the valiant champion to pieces with a quick combination of claws and bite.
This time our championess of faith, while parrying the bite with her heavy blade and nimbly dodging the right claw, is grabbed by the left claw, which creeps under a plate of the armor and scratches deeply, probably near the femoral artery! Weakened by the sudden loss of blood, Ardana staggers… but she somehow finds the strength to stand.
So, round 5 begins! Nimblestep, Tarysaa and Clas are up! Any order.
With an amused chuckle, Clas deftly follows Ardana's lead, stepping aside to create space for Ilwythe or any other brave soul who dares to take the spotlight. "Foolishness has its charms, doesn't it? Hahahaha!" he quips.
His attention shifts, a determined focus settling over him as he turns his energies toward protecting Ardana. His shield is positioned to intercept any threats, his stance solid and resolute. In the midst of the action, Clas's voice might be heard once more, aimed at his adversaries, "Well, floating heads with a taste for biting, meet the one who bites back!" With a swift movement, his longsword Ale arcs towards the left hand of the already wounded foe, the strike a testament to his determination and readiness to defend his companions.
Ale Attack: 24 Damage: Unable to parse dice roll.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Never underestimate the power of a finely crafted barrel, my friend! It is both a vessel of strength and a symbol of resilience.
Nim gasps seeing the chaos unfolding up ahead. He looks longingly towards the exit contemplating escape before recalling the bravery and companionship shown by his newfound friends and tells himself the only songs they would sing of a coward would not be worth the Thimblestein name.
”HOLD ON ARY! YOU HAVE ALL OUR FAITH!”
He shouts out, DASHing and pushing his way through the jumble of bodies blocking the path and ducking underneath the belly of the now giant Daisy, taking up the upper left space above Ardana in the corner.
(OOC: Nim bestows his last bardic inspiration upon Ardana hoping it will contribute to keeping her on her feet. And uses the dash action to scramble his way to the upper left square.)
Tarysaa's aim once again lives up to the elves' reputation for expert archery - an arrow accurately pierces the hideous Aberrant Undead's head, entering one ear and pointing through the other. Skewered like a macabre skewer, his head crashes first to the floor, then bounces down the stairs, spreading disgusting ichor. Only the undead's left hand still struggles, trying to scratch or punch.
Clas, moving to the side as he drops 'Ale' with ruthless precision, splits his remaining left hand in two. Aberrant Undead is finally reduced to an immobile pile of rotting and stinking remains.
Nim meanwhile, encouraging Ardana, has joined the fray... The position he was moving towards has however already been occupied by Clas! The willing halfling then instead positions himself beside Clas, since Ilwythe is trying to move to go alongside the heroic paladin... (OOC: @Nim: if you prefer instead to position yourself beside Ardana, correct me)
Ruthlessly trampling the wretched remains of Aberrant Undead, Ilwythe rushes in, handaxe in each hand, attacking Gnashing Undead's hands (OOC: He begins by attacking the monster's left hand; if he knocks it down with his first attack, he directs his second attack on righ hand).
The same hand that had spilled Ardana's blood, after having nimbly avoided a first blow from Ilwythe, is surprised by hisr second, which cuts off four of its five fingers. The hand, useless, collapses motionless on the wide steps.
The large wolf pushes through the others and a bites at the same undead creature that Illwythe hacked with his axes. The wolf recoils back to its place ready to pounce again.
(Attack Gu's head - 23 to hit, 10 damage; DC13 StrST, prone on fail.)
(OOC: Now, I have to correct something I've said in the past, because I found an answer from Jeremy Crawford that clarifies. Daisy can't go to an occupied square, attack, and return to her own, because it's considered the same as 'ending the movement into an occupied square' - she 'ends' it because she stops in that square to attack - it doesn't matter if she moves again afterwards. By the rules, this is forbidden all the same. Sorry , but unfortunately the 5e rules are written in a very 'lawful' way, they are meant to be followed very to the letter - and because of this I am sometimes mistaken. So Daisy has to attack from where she is - and she can, simply the target will have partial cover from the edge of the wall - but with the roll she has made, Daisy strikes anyway)
The great alpha she-wolf Daisy leans around the corner and savagely bites Gnashing Undead's head off her, taking off its ear and more shreds of rotting flesh. The blow knocks the opponent off balance and its head stops floating, falling onto a step. Its right hand tries to help the head fly again, while its dead eyes looks at Daisy with hatred - it is clear that it was a hard blow to take...
In any event, I think taking out the wounded head is the best approach - great sword again, its prone so advantage!
(OOC: 23/1 to hit, 23 hits with advantage (or even without, as it was the first roll. damage first roll was 2/2, reroll both, result 8 + 2 = 10 damage)
(OOC: Yes, I see, unfortunately sometimes the labels got messed up; and in the case of Left Claw Attack it happened - as well as in the following attacks of the same post - the labels do not reflect the rolls. But there's no reason to doubt the rolls... Left Claw Attack's 23 is represented in green coherently with the result - Left Claw attacks at +3 so it could have gotten 23 only with a crit - and in fact the damage is also consistent with that of a crit - a normal hit couldn't have dealt that much. The attack wasn't made with disadvantage, because Clas had already given disadvantage to a previous attack - Protection Fighting Style allows you to give disadvantage to one attack, not all - 'When a creature you can see attacks a target other than you that is within 5 feet of you, you can use your reaction to impose disadvantage on the attack roll'. Refers to a single attack by a single creature. And it can't be done multiple times, because it uses up the reaction of the shield-user and he of course only has one reaction.)
Ardana's heavy blade descends on the head, still on the ground, as if to execute a condemned man! The marshy head is split in two like a ripe melon and the fragments of him tumble down the stairs spreading disgusting ichor.
While Gnashing Undead's right hand stubbornly continues to fight and advances threatening towards Ardana, Ring Undead hopes to catch Ilwythe unprepared and attacks him with bites and punches.
now that I look at the tactical situation Ardana will move forward one square to make room for Illwythe.
