We’ve come a short way from when we woke, so Detect Magic may still be active (10 minutes). If so, does Essendrum see anything interesting about the gate? The boat is too far off for now, but if we pass through the gate and aren’t immediately attacked by Troglodytes, let me know what it looks like at the appropriate time. But Spike first for now!.

Essendrum coaches and peers across the surface of the landing. Troglodytes are famous for their camouflage, but they can’t actually disappear. He is looking to see if there are imperfections where one might hide or if the landing is so featureless that the subterranean menaces are likely to be in the water.
Again you find an iron gate with the rungs in the same images as the one before. Spike finds nothing that makes him suspicious and he opens the gate. It opens easily, though the touch of the cold iron leaves Spike's hand cold and tingling. The gate opens to a cone-shaped landing, 25 ft. at its widest. The entire floor of the landing is covered in a layer of ice and in several spots icy stalagmites jet up from the floor. Near the edge of the landing is a small 6-person boat, complete with oars. A layer of ice covers it.
Essendrum:
You find nothing magical about the gates or landing but you see the faint glow of something magical on the island. Essendrum also sees a slight movement at the edge of the platform, among the ice.

Essendrum stands up from his crouch. “Tactics is the exclusive concern of the rest of you of course, but I advise caution. The stalagmites may hide enemies or actually be them and the ice will mean a misstep may result in a slide into the frigid water. Maybe I’m worrying too much, but I could swear I saw something move at the edge of the ice. This calls for a bird’s eye view and then I might want to immolate a stalagmite or two before we move.”
The temperature being most to the liking of a snowy owl, Essendrum sends Milady up and away. She flies sixty feet up in a lazy circle out over the edge of the ice and looks down to see whether the water is more transparent at that angle. Telepathic contact only and she can relate if she sees anything of note.
The owl takes flight at your command but try as she might, she can not make out any differences in the stalagmites. Her report has no new information.
Kiza:
Being one of a suspicious nature, Kiza calms her thoughts and waits, scanning the stalagmites for any signs of movement. She is about to give up when she sees a small, pointy, white form move from one stalagmite to another. It was extremely fast but she thinks she saw wings
Enoch raises his shield and starts walking forward cautiously. (need an Acrobatics check for the slippery ice)
The air around you begins to cool abruptly. With the sudden drop in temperature and the constant sound of a fast-flowing river, shivers race down your spine and goose bumps rise on your arms. A thick, chilled mist rises from behind the stalagmites and moves through the party causing ice crystals to form on clothing and armor. 3[Tooltip Not Found] looking more like icy winged stalagmites rise into the air.
