"I'd hate to bother the Archivist if we're set to meet tomorrow anyway," Lokilia says tentatively. "But if you think it's fine, then maybe they can direct us to someone that could help."
"We are due to go back tomorrow to see if Archivist Pren has had a reply to the missive she sent for us", Normont replies to Dev as he waves to Amber to return.
"I don't think she would mind us coming back today, and she might have other ideas of who to speak to. Of course Lord de Rolo would be the best person, but even if he was in Whitestone it would be difficult to get a meeting".
(OOC: I thought this was set before there was a Gilmore's in Whitestone? If not that is a great place to go. Can you remind me about the gnome at the library and the other gnome please?)
( Apologies, your currently just before Campaign 3 started. So you have a Gilmores. The ' emo' gnome at the Castle Library had a ' witchy vibe' it may have been nothing......the other one is a certain old gnome currently renting space to the Nameless....as a dealer in pawned items and the like he likely has means to magically test things.)
"Ah", Normont exclaims after a moment. "I almost forgot. There is a Gilmore's Glorious Goods in Whitestone now. That would certainly be a good place to ask for information".
(OOC: Nice, so probably 5 or so years later than originally planned (837 --> 843?). Normont would likely be that much older then, which is no biggie for a gnome :-) And of course , Glinnick, forgot he was a gnome too. Probably the best choice mind haha)
"Indeed I do, let's head North", Normont says leading the way once Amber has returned.
"The shop is pretty new, having opened whilst I was away in Drynna. I expect it will have some wonderful, albeit expensive, items", he adds, and they can tell he is a little excited to visit there.
Dev’s step slows at the word “expensive,” which throughout his life has meant “for other people.” But he remembers that, in fact, his coin purse is not empty and indeed holds coin as it has consistently done for several months. He could at least look…
Emboldened, he takes a deep breath and catches up with the others.

Normont leads the others north through the streets of Whitestone to eventually arrived at a small quaint little shop, with a dark burgundy and purple colouration to its paint outside. There is a sign over the door that reads Gilmore's Glorious Goods: Whitestone Expansion.
The door is chocked open and within can be seen a young half-elf man, in his mid-30s. He looks a little sleepy under his eyes, and has a little bit of a pointed goatee, he wears a purple robe with gold trim and a small wooden name badge that says ' Hello, My name is Jerry.'
Lokilia glances at the sign as they go in. "Expansion?" she wonders. "There's another one of these places?" Once inside, she sees the half-elf. "Hello Jerry. You look just like the outside of this place!"
See tries to get a look past him to see what might be inside.
Dev cautiously enters, and, making sure to touch things only with his eyes, not his hands, though with his eyes touching as much as he can, makes his way toward the man. At a glance, does the shop seem to match Normont's description? Are there any books on shelves whose printing matches what is notated on the mystery warehouse pages?

" Yes.....I suppose I do. Just browsing or?", he ventures with a slight smile.
The shelves are relatively sparse but by no means empty and there are a number of books present, most appear to be simple primers on various magical schools. None of the printing he can see matches the script in question.
On the shelves are a half dozen or so wands and rods, a small selection of rings, a dozen or so potions and a smattering of other objects. A small selection of boots, capes, cloaks and light armour hangs on the opposite wall and an array of scrolls are filled in pigeonholes above the cashiers desk.
Lokilia is intrigued by what might be on the shelves, despite them being sparse. But she pulls her attention back to Jerry. "I suppose it would be fun to browse. But..." She glances over at Normont before continuing. "Well, we had questions. And needed some help identifying something we found. And we were wondering if you or if you could direct us to someone that might be able to answer."
She shakes her head, knowing that she probably hadn't explained things clearly enough.

" Well. I may have answers......of course that would depend on the questions.....and what the something is..."
Dev was having second thoughts, given that a) they had stolen the papers, and b) they really had no idea what they said. Dev was imagining pages from his diary translated from his secret language without the benefit of context and his heart raced. But a life is at stake…
He produced the pages. “We are investigating a crime and we need to know what these say. Like, every detail is important. Can you help?” His glance shoots to Normont for reassurance, then back again to Jerry for answers.
Lokilia nods as Dev mentions the pages. "Yes, we need help with seeing if those have any hidden message! And we have some unusual metal and crystals that we're wondering if someone could help us figure out."
When Lokilia mentions crystals, Dev stands stupefied for a split second. I almost forgot, he thinks, and then finds the clear gem in a pocket and, taking it between thumb and forefinger, holds it up for Jerry to see, then places it gently onto his palm. “Can you tell us what this is?”

Jerry took them, squinted a bit then waved his hand over the pages, " Ah.....this page has had the spell usually referred to as ' Illusory Script' cast upon it. Dispelling the spell would leave us with only a blank page.......I'm sorry but unless you have access to someone with the spell True Seeing or some of the more frightening beings in existence there's no way to read it."
" I do have a Scroll of True Seeing but........I would not be able to let it go for less than 2000 gold and even that is a considerable discount."
Lokilia nods as Dev mentions the pages. "Yes, we need help with seeing if those have any hidden message! And we have some unusual metal and crystals that we're wondering if someone could help us figure out."
" I am familiar with a number of spell and artifact crafting materials....I may know them."

Jerry looked down at it then pulled out a small eyepiece and examined it, " Well, that is a rather exquisite round cut diamond of exceptional purity, I estimate its value at around 1000 gold."
"Wow! Really? 1000 gold?" Lokilia says when Jerry looks at the diamond. "That is just a diamond then?" She then looks over at Normont. "We also have the blue crystal material and the dull grey ingot." She doesn't mention the powder.
While waiting for a response, she's thinking about how much gold they might have and whether they could even hope of buying that scroll of True Sight.

Normont, who has been distracted with some on fly repairs to Maggie, finally start to take notice at talk of the crystal and ingot.
”Yes, quite so”, he says and digs into his bag for those items. He also doesn’t retrieve the powder. He has a good idea already what that is.
”Here you go, Jerry. I can sense some residual magic, or perhaps magical potential, but hopefully you can be a bit more explicit”.
