(@Damian_May, I just realized that I completely forgot about these music printouts from the tower:
* 2 printed sheets of lyrics and notes in Arcane......it will take some study but after a week or so this will give Dev the Magic Initiate ( Sorcerer) Feat.
I just added this feat if that's okay? Am I correct that Dev has had time to study for a week or so?)
Jerry looked down at it then pulled out a small eyepiece and examined it, " Well, that is a rather exquisite round cut diamond of exceptional purity, I estimate its value at around 1000 gold."
Dev absorbs this statement in silence. Not nearly enough. But, the idea takes hold that maybe he could convince Jerry to sell him the scroll of true seeing at a greater discount. Everything seems to hinge on it. The value of the diamond already brings them half way. But another 1000GP?? Maybe if he offered a song performance and then asked really nicely, Jerry would bring down the price?
"I... I don't think I can afford that, even though it's marked down. But... I'd like to try to convince you to lower the price, if you'll, like, indulge me? I... I bet it can get a little boring sitting here in the shop for long hours every day. Nothing like a song to brighten the day and help the long afternoon hours pass quickly? Bu the trick now is, what kind of music do you prefer. Do you have skull tattoos pointing to Death Dirges? Do I see any pictures of ponies or farm tableaux pointing to reedy folk songs? Or, are you wearing decorative winery cufflinks pointing to courtly sonnets or lays?" If Dev can get a sense, he will cast a musical illusion of a quiet chorus in that style. Hopefully it will pique Jerry's interest.
"Wow! Really? 1000 gold?" Lokilia says when Jerry looks at the diamond. "That is just a diamond then?" She then looks over at Normont. "We also have the blue crystal material and the dull grey ingot." She doesn't mention the powder.
While waiting for a response, she's thinking about how much gold they might have and whether they could even hope of buying that scroll of True Sight.
Normont, who has been distracted with some on fly repairs to Maggie, finally start to take notice at talk of the crystal and ingot.
”Yes, quite so”, he says and digs into his bag for those items. He also doesn’t retrieve the powder. He has a good idea already what that is.
”Here you go, Jerry. I can sense some residual magic, or perhaps magical potential, but hopefully you can be a bit more explicit”.
Jerry examined the materials with the eyepiece and cast his hands over them, " The crystal is very rare.......my best guess is that it is azuremite...I have heard that there are deposits of the material in the Crystalfen Caverns but I've never actually seen it myself. Theres speculation that it forms when mundane crystals are exposed to aberrant psychic energies for long periods...."
" The steel.....necromantic energies....either it was sourced in the Shadowfell itself or mined from somewhere exposed to its energies."

Jerry gave Dev a crooked smile, " I'm not much of a music lover.....I appreciate the visual arts more....and I have provided what are normally costed evaluations gratis."
" Also, I don't want to annoy my boss too much in one month I already let a bunch of inventory go too cheaply last week."
“Oh!,” Dev says, “I don’t want to get you in trouble, especially after you’ve been so helpful. Well okay. Oh!, if you like visual art, you should see my friend, Balaran’s, work. He’s just amazing and his painting is… well, you’d love it.”
But Dev drops the question of the diamond’s value and looks to his friends for their responses.

Jerrys eyes went wide, " You know Balaran Almiji? The Balaran Almiji? My friend....if you can procur for me a Balaran Almiji original then I will sell you the scroll for half its worth."
Normont listens intently to the information about the crystal and the ingot. Some of it he suspected already, but it is good to corroborate. The rest is new and even more interesting.
When he gets the chance to ask a follow up question, he will. "Thank you, but what would you think these items would be used for? Why were they found together?".

Jerry tears his attention away from Dev for a moment, " Hmmm, well Azurite theoretically could be used in all manner of psychic based devices or rituals......the steel perhaps as a component for a necromantic array or rituals space or apparatus? It is hard to say....in combination? Abberant and Necromantic magics together? I have no idea.....perhaps some sort of undead aberration would have an interest? I will say that most people wouldn't have any idea what Azurite is, I only know it because I did a report on it for my final assessments at the Alabaster Lyceum, and the steel to the naked eye looks like any other metal...I would presume that whoever is in charge of this has some fell scheme but those procuring the materials may have no idea what is happening....where did you obtain these?"

Dev hedges at first, defensive of his friendship with the older artist. But also, surprised. ‘ “The Balaran Almiji?” ,’ Jerry had asked. Was his friend that famous?
”I mean, I think of his paintings as priceless, really.” The truth. Although of course Balaran earns money from commissions so yeah, in that way their value translates into coin. But how much?
”I don’t know. It seems to me that one of them, if a value had to be put on it…” he trails off, bringing the diamond up to eye level and peering at it thoughtfully. How much more the least of Balaran’s paintings is worth than this tiny sparkling thing, Dev thinks.
”I mean, if you’d be my guest, I’m sure he’d let me show you his studio some time. I just don’t know for sure if he’s selling anything right now?,” he finishes, sincerely. He likes Jerry somehow and imagines enjoying such a visit.
" Visit......the......studio......oh, Gods. You would do that for me? I don't know what to say....", Jerry was obviously star-struck.
" I know he's still more in his ' underground' phase but as someone who really liked his ' Unrest' and ' Retribution' phases while he was based in Kymal I am desperate to see what is next...."
Normont ponders what Jerry has told him about the azuremite and steel, and his supposition that the orchestrator is up to dark deeds. He could not agree more. But he does not reply beyond muttering, "In the line of duty", allowing talk of Balaran to distract Jerry from questioning further.
One thing is certain in his mind, they needed to tell a member of the Chamber so they could have the whole shipment seized.
And yet the bill of lading, if that is what the paper they had was, did need to be seen in its proper form.
Whilst the talk continues, he decides to take a brief look around to see what else is in the store, seeing if anything is labelled.
Lokilia listened as Jerry described the Azurite and what it may be used for. She was suddenly worried and looked to Normont. 'What's he going to do with this information?' she wonders. 'He needs to let people know!' Though she isn't sure she should be saying anything in public. As nice as Jerry has been.
She does have to grin as he goes on about "The" Balaran Almiji. She isn't surprised to find another fan of his - Balaran was pretty amazing as far as Lokilia could tell. But it was interesting to run into someone else that knew him. 'I wonder if we could impose on Balaran. It is important to find out more about those manifests. That spell scroll would really help!'She sees that Normont is heading further into the shop, and she does the same. 'What might they have here? Perhaps something affordable?'she hopes.
She starts by heading to where she saw the capes and cloaks.

Dev nods in agreement with Lokilia. Finding out the meaning of the papers is important. But, so is his friendship with Balaran. Yet, there must be some way that neither thing has to be sacrificed for the other.
"I'm... sure it will be all right," he says to Jerry. "I mean, I just want to speak with him first." Dev furiously tries to recall whether Balaran had mentioned his plans for the evening when they spoke earlier this afternoon. "What time do you get off work this evening?"
"We just... we really need to know what these papers say. It could be nothing important, or it could mean someone's life. It's really that serious. Look," he says earnestly. He lays the 1000 GP diamond on the counter. "I can give you this now, as collateral. And if you'll sell me the scroll now, I'll pay interest on the rest until it's in your hands. Taking you to see the studio... well, that would be my pleasure, as long as Balaran's okay with it."
(I'm hoping a persuasion roll won't be needed... but if it is, feel free to roll it.)

On the shelves are a half dozen or so wands and rods, a small selection of rings, a dozen or so potions and a smattering of other objects. A small selection of boots, capes, cloaks and light armour hangs on the opposite wall and an array of scrolls are filled in pigeonholes above the cashiers desk.
Most of the items are labelled, somewhat cryptically in some cases ( The floor stock consists of Common and Uncommon Magical Items of various kinds. Price Ranges are Common 50-100 gp, Uncommon 101 - 500 gp.)
The scrolls are all out of reach and cannot be read.

( As above the capes and cloaks fall within the Common and Uncommon brackets. Though more expensive items are likely held in the rear of the store.)

(OOC: DM - how do we proceed with the common / uncommon items? Do you want us to ask about specific ones, or do you have a list? It seems we may be in a position to afford something, although Jerry might find that odd after not paying more for the scroll)
( After the Crit success from Dev he will likely be very obliging as long as you all leave shortly after the purchase. Price wise for Common Items just add them to your sheet and roll 1d100 for the price 9 discarding any roll below 50, for Uncommon roll 5d100 for the price. Anything rarer than that you will need to enquire about.)
