When they are stopped for the nights, if there is a dry place and not too cold around the fire, Dev will carefully remove the printouts from his pack and study them and try to learn what he can from them.
The companions make exceptional time as they travel north along the eastern bank ( 4 Survival Successes) making up the lost day easily and even cutting another half day off their journey, they are able to forage a small amount of extra rations as they move and Devs attention to the small animals of the region allows the group to avoid a hidden nest of enormous wasps before stepping into it ( 2 Nature Successes, 1 Exceptional).
The companions easily overcome all obstacles in their path whether fallen trees, boggy ground, landslides and others. Quinn is on hand constantly to help others across and keep them moving, even managing to steady a fallen tree with his back so others could use it to cross a deep stream. ( 4 Athletics Successes, 1 Exceptional).
Keen eyes and aerial reconnaisance allowed the group to avoid dangers and make safe camp each night, Normont and Lokilia spotting foraging bears on the river bank and allowing the group to skirt the animals on a number of occasions.
Sooner than expected the group have come to a place where a wide mountain stream joins the Mooren River Run, the group will need to determine a way to cross in order to continue or divert along the stream until it becomes small enough to cross.
At the point of joining the Mooren River Run ( some 100' across), the stream is about 40' across and the bed seems to be rounded stones washed down from the Sierras above. The stream looks to be about waist deep on the majority of the group for most of its way across and fairly fast flowing.
( Everyone gains a point of inspiration for absolutely crushing the journey so far.)
“Maybe, like we did on the rope bridge? Amber flies across with rope and fastens it on the other side? Then we hold onto the rope when we wade across?”
"Yes, that sounds like a plan", Normont agrees, taking out his grappling hook and silken rope. He instructs Amber to place the grappling hook somewhere secure on the larger branches of a tree ideally.
"I have to say though, the water might be too deep for me to walk across. Possibly a piggy back when you cross, Quinn?".
Lokilia smiles as everyone seems to contribute to putting an idea together. "It all sounds good to me." She then adds, "I could try turning into an animal that might have better footing, but sounds like that's probably not necessary with the plan you guys already have!"
“That means either Lokilia or me should cross first…?,” Dev says. He gives Lokilia a look that says, I guess I’ll go first but if you want to go first then I guess that makes sense too?
It’s not exactly relief that shows on Dev’s face, but he’s glad. He knows if something happens to him, he wouldn’t be there to do his healing magic on anyone else if they needed him. Maybe it would be best if he went last, but… he isn’t strong like Quinn. So he can go second and if anything happens to Lokilia he can try to help.
Amber finds a secure place for the hook and the rope is drawn taught.
Lokilia easily makes it across though the water is invigoratingly cold off the mountains, as soon as she is settled Dev begins making his way across....he is about halfway there when a huge shaggy form trundles out of the trees about 50' from Lokilia accompanied by two smaller shapes.
The enormous brown bear is startled to see Lokilia standing at the waters edge and immediately moves across to shield its two cubs as it sniffs the air trying to determine what she is and what sort of threat she holds......
Dev freezes in the middle of the river as the bears come into view.....
Normont and Quinn watch from the other side of the stream.....
Seeing the bear and her cubs across the river, Normont directs Amber to be ready to help Lokilia but only if they get aggressive. Otherwise to keep her distance.
Lokilia backs away a bit, trying to appear non-threatening. She quickly casts Speak with Animals. The druid then speaks calmly to the bear mother. "Sorry to intrude. I will not harm you nor your cubs. Nor will the others. We are crossing the river and will move on, to go far away."
Dev has frozen in the middle of the river, holding onto the rope to keep from losing his footing.
Holding with one hand, he takes hold of his pan pipes on their loop around his neck with the other hand and plays a series of notes, readying a spell.
If the brown bear charges or otherwise behaves aggressively, a booming alpine horn sound suddenly begins to trumpet atonal fanfares continuously from Lokilia, hopefully frightening the creature away.
When they are stopped for the nights, if there is a dry place and not too cold around the fire, Dev will carefully remove the printouts from his pack and study them and try to learn what he can from them.

"I can hold the rope on this end until everyone is across and then tie it off and walk across myself. I do well with rocky terrain"

Normont will certainly help Quinn keep his balance.
