Jasper frowns at Lokilia's observation - there are quite a lot of wagons and carriages about. "I'd say it's strange. This is a whole bloody compound!" They whisper. "Who knows what sort of things they're hiding in there... I'm willing to guess there's more creepy Whitestone dirt. But you're right, Lokilia, we should stay out of sight."
As they walk along the road, Normont turns to Dev and carries on their conversation.
"You know, when I was checking the soil for magical properties, I didn't get a reading from your pipes or boots. Perhaps they are like my tools, they enable me to perform certain tasks that I am able to do. So the capability is mine, but my tools facilitate it. Perhaps the magic is in you, but your pipes and boots help you focus your ability?", he suggests.
He also notices the bird. "It is certainly concerning that we are potentially being watched, and by wildlife. That suggests more magic is at play", he replies to Lokilia.
When they reach the Galador estate he looks up at Jasper and Lokilia as they discuss the compound and how busy it is at this time.
"I think we would be right to stay hidden as well. Shall we move off the road now and use the warehouses to cover our approach?", he says and starts to sneak off the road.
As they walk along the road, Normont turns to Dev and carries on their conversation.

Dev is lost in his thoughts when Normont speaks to him. The tiefling does a touble take, frowning scornfully.
"Ha. Umm..." The tiefling doesn't want to disagree outright with the gnome. He respects his degree of learning, and who was he to argue with such an intelligent and resourceful adult who has had years to hone his various crafts. Still, Normont plainly has no idea what he is talking about.
"That's... interesting," Dev forces himself to say, his mouth smiling while his eyes look askance, "I'm sure you're right."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Dev moves off the road with Normont. At the edge of a warehouse where they stop, he blows a few notes on his magic pipes, and an extra crate appears at the corner minor illusion, through which Dev peeks to ensure no one has seen them. He looks meaningfully at Normont under arched brow, brandishing his pipes every so slightly. (Stealth 7)
Normont gives Dev two thumbs up, assuming he is holding his pipes up acknowledging that he was right about them being a focus. He then winces as Dev's attempt to hide goes a little wrong.
Magnus agrees with the others, "let's move off the road and try to find some higher ground to keep a watch on the compound during the day. Then depending on what we observe we can move in if need be, or wait till night and sneak in to see what we can discover."
Moving up the edge of the roadway through the vineyards the group manage to conceal themselves in a small copse of olive trees on a slight rise to the rear of the warehouse, both front and rear doors of the warehouse are open and workers are already within setting up trestles and shifting large crates into position as the sun rises.
Devs crate faded away again but luckily none saw it arrive or leave.
Currently there seem to be only workers present and a rather gruff older overseer....perhaps the family members and visitors are still within the manor.
( Spending the day here or doing some daylight investigation?)
Lokilia takes a look over the operations as they wait, curious as to what exactly is in the crates - or going to be put in them. 'Is it just olives?' she wonders as they hide amongst olive trees. 'Or something else?' (Perception: 10)
As the group hides she whispers very quietly. "Let's watch for a short bit, but we should probably not just sit here."
"Jasper, do you have any reason as a town guard to randomly visit a compound? Or possibly, can you take a "dignitary" from the Cobalt soul around to all the compounds and introduce them, as they wanted a tour of the surrounding areas about town. Might get us into the compound in order to look around." Magnus suggests.
"If it comes to it, I have a little magic ready to coax some information out of a guard or someone inside. Might be a last restore or as we leave thing though, they will likely report it afterwords"
"Some good suggestions", Normont says looking up at those around him. "I sure would like to get closer to the Manor and see who is coming and going. But there is potentially something to be learned watching from here for a time. I also wonder if it would be possible to blend in with the other workers. That would depend how many there are and what exactly they are doing".
(OOC: Happy to stick in this spot for a while and see what happens)
As the sun rose higher workers came and went from the warehouse but work elsewhere around the vineyard and manor went on.....people were out among the trellis tending to the vines, casks were loaded onto wagons and departed for places unknown, gardeners clipped hedges and trimmed verges. Looking over head you are happy to see the olives are nowhere near ripe and you are unlikely to be disturbed by harvesters.
(Passive Perception 12 and over:)
You notice that the workers seem reluctant to approach the largest crates in the warehouse, some holding their finger under their nose if the have to pass by them.
About two hours in to your watch a number of people approach the warehouse directly from the manor:
- a young human woman with gleaming golden hair walks into the warehouse chin held high, with a small entourage in tow. She’s tall, nearly six-and-a-half feet, and wearing a blood-red cloak covered in intricate embroidery.
- her entourage are four half-elven men with dark short hair dressed in purple vests. The oldest of the men gives the woman a kiss on the cheek and moves to inspect the crates. As one of the younger men looks off into the distance you notice that they are actually a young half-elven woman with close cropped hair.
Seemingly satisfied the older man and the tall woman move out of sight into a room within the warehouse as the other begin placing items from their packs on one of the trestle tables.
(Jasper and anyone who has lived more than a year in Drynna:-)
You recognise the older man as Liam Von Ocici a senior member of the Ocici Family in Drynna and long suspected of ties with the Clasp though nothing definitive has ever been discovered. The others are younger members of the family but you are not overly familiar with them.
"I have no idea who these people are, or if this is normal running of an estate like this. We need to somehow get closer and examine what is in those crates and what those items they have brought are", Normont mutters as he watches enthralled by the events going on in the warehouse.
"Do any of you have more insight?", he adds, not breaking his observation of the warehouse.
When Normont turns back to the others, Dev’s eyes are wide.
“It’s her. She killed Conroy Pakese. The patch of fabric he tore off, embroidered like her coat. And a strand of golden hair, like hers,” he whispers, excitedly, his eyes latched onto the woman until she enters the warehouse room.
The tiefling looks to Jasper.
“The older man. He’s one of the Ocici Family in Drynna. They’re crooked aren’t they? My parents say they’re bad people, and to give them a wide berth. Whatever they’re doing, it’d be no surprise if the Ocici Family were involved, right?”
Lokilia smiles as she hears Dev's comment. "That's excellent. Identified the murderer. We just take her in now? Umm, somehow." She keeps her voice low, trying to be mindful of other that might be about.
Jasper scowls and shakes their head. "The Ocicis, I should have known they'd have something to do with this. Yeah, Dev, they're crooked as they come, though conveniently any evidence of that always disappears when it comes to holding them accountable for it. Maybe today's the day their luck runs out. But why would they be connected to this undead nonsense? We need to investigate further, figure out what they're up to."
