OOC: Rindelk was traveling this weekend, so I'll wait a few more hours to give him a chance to participate.
Leek will miss with his sling.
Kitryn: Sneak fails, but only a critical success (a 20) would have succeeded anyway... there is no place to hide and the goblins are aware there are intruders. That being said, your first attack will hit and do serious damage. The goblin is still standing but the wound you caused looks severe. To be able to sneak attack, you need either: attack with advantage OR have an ally standing next to your target and attack without disadvantage. Refer to: https://www.dndbeyond.com/compendium/rules/phb/classes#SneakAttack
Katerielle said she wanted to attack with her crossbow: She will move to R3 and attack: Attack: 8 Damage: 7 , which is a miss and then move back.
it's an additive set of actions, based on success at the prior. i believed the goblins might be more concerned with the known direction of attack and i had a better chance sneaking on something that has its back to me/no expectation i could be there etc.. if we are stacking up actions without seeing the success of dependant rolls its pretty hard to not do things that don't work.. or we end up one roll per post.
my offhand did not hit? that requires no advantage.
OOC: To elaborate on Stealth, I went looking for the actual rule(s) in the Player's Handbook. Here's the text:
Stealth
While traveling at a slow pace, the characters can move stealthily. As long as they’re not in the open, they can try to surprise or sneak by other creatures they encounter.
There are spells and other ways to become invisible, and allowing stealth to "work" while you're in the open with nothing to hide behind, would render those other skills useless. In your scenario, where you wanted to sneak up to a goblin that had her back turned to you... would be allowed if the goblins had no idea of your presence in their home. But they are aware of you and surprising them was no longer possible.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
The goblins can barely be heard over the echoing roar of the waterfall in the corner, as they bash scimitars on shields and scream at the intruders to flee or be fed to the wolves. Ignoring the rantings of the goblins, Rindelk steps into the opening leading up to the chamber and castes infestation to attempt to dislodge the nearest goblin from his cover. A cloud of mites and fleas engulfs the nearest goblin, and it attempts to endure.
OOC: Rindelk, the spell you cast doesn't require an attack. You basically attack an area and automatically hit. The creatures in the area have to do the rolls to try and resist. In this case, the goblin must roll a CON save to resist the infestation against your spell Difficulty Check (DC) of 12.
CON save: 2.
If the spell succeeds, the goblin must move in a random direction. I'm doing this differently than the rules, instead of rolling a 1d4 for north, east, south and west... I'm rolling a 1d8 to make diagonal movements possible. 12 o'clock is 1 and it goes clockwise, so 2 is diagonal North West, 3 is West, etc...
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
OOC: Direction 1 is blocked... in the future I will rule that if it can move somewhere, it has to move. But in this case it only has 6 health, so the damage alone kills it.
The goblin, being swarmed by fleas, mites and other biting insects, tries to run and bashes his head into the wall. The goblin teeters and totters and trips into the pool, landing face down, unconscious and drowns.
Kitryn, having climbed the wall to get into a flanking position, makes a clumsy attempt to sneak. The goblin turns to try and get his shield into a defensive position, but Kitryn succeeds in slashing with her shortsword. However, her follow-up dagger attack smacks the shield. The goblin is severely wounded and both Kitryn and the goblin knows it.
Katerielle steps towards the tunnel leading up to the chamber with the intention of shooting the nearest goblin, but it is not there any longer. Instead she shoots at the further one, but misses. Katerielle ducks back behind cover to avoid retaliation.
Ignoring the crossbow bolt that missed, the third goblin steps out from behind the stalagmite to help it's besieged companion. It draws it's bow and fires at Kitryn, the only target it sees.
Attack: 9 Damage: 4
However, trying not to shoot it's companion in the back while hitting Kitryn proves too much of a challenge and the arrow misses.
Leek moves to be able to shoot up the corridor and sees the archer standing there, bow lifted and aimed to the west. He flings a stone with his sling and it just barely misses. Leek then returns behind cover.
OOC: Erenaeth gets a turn. Then Goblin B. And then it will be Rindelk, Kytrin and Katerielle again.
OOC Mechanics lesson: When using melee weapons, a character "threatens" an area all around him equal to his reach. Most weapons have a reach of 5 feet, and some special weapons have a reach of 10 feet. When an enemy leaves the threatened area, it triggers an opening to use a reaction called an Attack of Opportunity. Basically, that's another melee attack you can do each turn if special conditions are met.
In our case, the goblin facing Kytrin was gravely injured and wants to flee. But if it leaves Kitryn's threat area, the attack of opportunity can potentially kill him. The counter to this is an action called disengage. It uses up a whole action just to avoid provoking attacks of opportunity. Certain feats or class skills allow for Disengage to be used as a Bonus Action. Monsters, such as Goblins, are allowed to use it as a bonus action as well.
The goblin facing Kytrin winces in pain and backs away, careful to not leave Kytrin any openings to attack. Then he runs further into the cavern and around a corner.
OOC:
Goblin uses Bonus Action to disengage. Movement + Dash action to move.
Normally I'd wait for Rindelk to play his turn, but between Katerielle and Kitryn, that's a very dead goblin.
Katerielle steps out from behind cover with her crossbow loaded and ready. Her shot hits the goblin square in the chest, crippling it. Kitryn's follow up attacks mutilate the goblin before it can hit the ground.
For the time being, your group is out of combat. The echoing of the waterfall is very loud in this chamber. You doubt anyone heard the brief combat. However, one goblin did flee. Your group may move about, chat (in close proximity to each other) and scout as required.
on the bridge and behind goblin S7
move for stealth attack 12

I would like to cast Thunderclap.
occ Is that a regular roll or do I add a modifer? It says CON 13, does that mean it takes more concentration?
Replied to Katerielle via email.
"press the attack, advance out of the hall"
i will move to the remaining golbin
attack 16 dmg8
two weapon 21 dmg3
Drew on map. Leek will run up the creek to try and get behind the goblin. He will attack when he gets a clear shot.
(I understand if this might take a few rounds for me to get there and so forth.
Here are the rolls when I do:
Attack: 19
Damage: 4
Per email, Katerielle will shoot Goblin C with crossbow.
Attack: 18 Damage: 8
Wholly crap.

i vote to chase down the survivor.
If you want to stealth, re-roll stealth.
i will try to sneak down the passage until i am seen or can see something that needs interaction/choice.
