That pearl in the bag should be kept, it's a component for 'identify' spell, if rindelk intends to keep and use the staff.. he's going to need it right?
To be clear: everyone got 54gp + 6sp from the pile of gems and coins from Glasstaff's quarters. I'm having Rindelk re-buy the pearl at 100gp cost for his own inventory.
well. i'm negative charisma.. so unless you want me growl at her with menace.. not rolling..
that said:
'Damn it woman! we spent the day wetting our blades with bandits, bugbear guards and even a nothic glasstaff was keeping as a personal guard.. and even after presenting him his lieutenants heads he praddled on like pompus ass about his masters power and how we were insects.. he's dead with the rest of the lot. you made no word of bringing back his head, or i would have since i'd already done the deed to 4 others... but if you think i'm in the mood to walk all the way back just to do that now.. and then have you find some other excuse to withhold payment then... look through this lot of paper and be satisfied!.
Halia's eyes go wide and her manner resembles a child receiving a gift when she sees the stack of papers. She quickly rifles through them to evaluate their authenticity.
Leek gently takes Droops hand and pulls the snivelling Goblin forward.
"This is one of Glasstaff's slaves. He serves me now. He can tell you how we defeated Glasstaff. Ask him whatever questions you want. He will answer."
(Will this give advantage to persuasion? I have +0 charisma, so I'm not going to roll the test, but hopefully with Droop answering her questions it will give us advantage to the roll)
Rindelk descibes the events in Tresendor Manor, showing Elila's new sword and his new staff as further proof. Halia briefly looks disappointed at the lost opportunity to recover those magical trinkets herself, but recovers quickly and hands the purse of gold to the party.
(100 gp split 5 ways = 20 each. Where do you go next?)
"A legendary mage by the name of Bowgentle had a spellbook that disappeared after he passed. It came to our attention that a witch by the name of Agatha of Conyberry was once in possession of it. It turns out Conyberry is not far from Phandalin, north east along the Triboar Trail. So I was chosen to make contact with this Agatha and persuade her to answer a question; what did she do with the spellbook?
Agatha died some time ago, but we have found out that she haunts her old home in banshee form. We were able to learn that Agatha was a beautiful and vain elf while living. I traveled to her home hoping to offer her the gift of a jeweled silver comb to appeal to her vanity in exchange for an answer to my question. However, Agatha did not appear when I was there. After some time, I returned home, empty handed.
It is my hope that you can travel to Conyberry, to Agatha's home and see if she'll appear for you. If she does, you can gift her the silver jeweled comb and ask her on my behalf. I don't have much coin to pay you, but I do have what is always useful for adventurers... healing potions. And my gratitude.
"We have an employer who has gone missing, in case you've forgotten. Decency asks that we attempt to rescue him while there is still a chance he is alive. If decency is of no concern to you, then maybe gold is a better persuader. A wealthy employer will pay us a good reward for saving him. Ghosts, on the other hand, concern me not. And as this person is already dead, she is not going anywhere, and could be dealt with at a future date. If we tarry much longer, our employer might be joining her and there will be no coin and no decency in that outcome..."
i'm one to side with the gnome on this, the dead are in no rush. matters of the living should be principle.
we should return to the store house and inform Sildar of what choice Iarno took. it may inform us of the motives to capture Gundren.
from those papers, that have so caught your eye.. do you have anything to add about why this wizard and the miners have such an interest in controlling the town over?
Halia replies, "The Rockseeker brothers talked about something big that would put Phandelver on the map again. Lots of money to be made if that were true. Especially for those that are less than honest about how they go about it.
As for these papers, it looks mostly like supply orders for alchemy. Weapons, armor. Mostly brewing magic potions and equipping a small gang."
Well, it seems our only lead to Cragmaw is possibly capturing goblins roaming in the forest. I still remember there was some druid that Halia promised she would put us in touch with if we went to clear out the redbrands... Am I correct in remembering that? If so, Leek will ask where to find this druid. If not, then Leek will ask Droop if he knows where the Goblins of Cragmaw might roam.
Halia said she knew a druid who would know the forest like the back of his hand and could certainly answer your questions. However, said druid was last seen travelling to Thundertree.
The party travels to the Stonehill Inn to find Sildar Hallwinter and are redirected to the Townmaster's Hall.
The townmaster’s hall has sturdy stone walls, a pitched wooden roof, and a bell tower at the back. Posted on a board next to the front door is a notice written in Common. It reads: “REWARD — Orcs near Wyvern Tor! Those of a mind to face the orc menace should inquire within.” The notice bears the town’s seal and an indecipherable signature.
Sildar has established himself there on behalf of the Lord's Alliance to create the constabulary that Iarno Albrek was tasked to do. You all spend some time explaining to Sildar and Harbin Wester (the fat cowardly townmaster you already encountered after the first fight with the redbrands outside the inn) how Iarno betrayed Phandalin and the Lord's Alliance. Sildar is distraught and ashamed and wishes Iarno would have been alive to face a trial in Neverwinter. He says a living prisoner would have been worth more to the Lord's Alliance, but seeing as you took care of the Redbrands, he gives the party 500 gold for your service.
Sildar also offers another 500 gold reward to find Cragmaw Castle and defeat or drive off the chieftan. He affirms that taking out a raiding party and questioning them would be a good way to find the castle.
"Next time, if you want a prisoner alive, you should go get him yourself," Leek mumbles, audibly enough for Sildar to hear. "I believe we should head to Thundertree and find the druid. If we run into a Goblin raiding party on the way, then bonus. We can deal with them and find the information we need."
Before we go, I'd like to look for a mount. I'm flush with gold and tired of walking. What mounts are available in this shit town? Can I get an elephant?!?!?!?!?
To be clear: everyone got 54gp + 6sp from the pile of gems and coins from Glasstaff's quarters. I'm having Rindelk re-buy the pearl at 100gp cost for his own inventory.

From Earlier -

I want to help her.
Leek's two cents:

Elila sides with the gnome as well, "Lets keep our focus and complete our first task before we attempt a second!"

Sounds like we're going to thundertree, but we should report in to sildar and take on provisions beforehand.

Are you going to take the road? Or travel cross country, potentially through the forest to the north?
(see map in email.)

Sooooooo looking at the map, Leek realizes Cragmaw Hideout is already marked. Let's head straight there!
