OOC: You move up to M8. If you want to be stealthing while moving up, roll stealth again. Roll perception too.
The main passage from the cave mouth climbs steeply upward, the stream plunging and splashing down its west side. In the shadows, a side passage leads west across the other side of the stream. In the shadows of the ceiling to the north, you can just make out the dim shape of a rickety bridge of wood and rope crossing over the passage ahead of you. Another passage intersects this one, twenty feet above the floor.
Asi am the only one in the cave, anyone who follows will be shushed and motioned to hide along the wall. Also give the eye/point motion to indicate a lookout.
If people are following vs taking any action with the wolves. Am I far enough away from goblin to whisper?
"Sneak or coordinate attack from range?"
It Should be obvious now who can see I.e. all our races have darkvision.
OOC: If you want to whisper, roll stealth. If you want to move back to talk, roll stealth. :)
If you try to do sign language, whoever is looking at you has to roll intelligence to see if they "get it".
Darkvision has limitations. Different races have different ranges, and darkvision is only black and white. Some "color" stuff may escape notice if you're relying only on darkvision. But it is usually adequate 90% of the time, and should be fine for a beginner module like this.
ooc:can i roll stealth for a full distance of movement and 'stop' or prompt if something of note pops up? ie i will not walk past a newly visible side corridor and open my back by default?
rolling for every few feet of movement so that doesn't happen is gonna take a long time.
the darkvision thing was just a group note, as you made it clear that it was too 'dark' to proceed without it, but as everyone has it, no light/torch spells are needed for the party to follow.
i will cross the stream and 'scout' the corridor until i can see the bridge.
The West passage is a 20 foot climb with a small ledge partway up. The whole passage is full of rubble.
Kitryn heads out of the cave and regroups with the party to discuss a plan of action.
OOC: Rubble is difficult terrain, which means double movement cost through it. Climbing is an ability check and also double movement cost (unless a Feat says otherwise).
" the cave has a main path that follows the streams course. there is an elevated bridge with a sentry watching the path, looks like we need to go under it and loop around, a good defense. there is shaft of some kind to the west, but a hard climb up. it could allow us to blindside the watch however.. oh and the wolves chained just inside. thoughts?"
"Leek, you are the smallest!? could you climb and anchor a rope for the rest? i can likely catch you should you fall as i caught Ereneath after the whip snare"
" could we free the wolves and set them upon the golbies? we'd need an illusion or control.."
OOC: Climbing is an Athletics check. You have zero modifier, so you roll a straight d20.
Tell me what your plan is.
If you're going into the cave to climb the west passage, you need to roll stealth (or choose to not stealth), then roll an athletics check for the climbing.
ooc I'd like to stay behind and wait for instructions from the scout. Unless there are ways to help with a spell? (Have I rested enough yet from casting?)
After agreeing on a plan, Leek sets off on his own with Kitryn's 50 feet of hempen rope. As he attempts to jump the stream towards the western passage, he falls a little bit short and splashes in the stream, letting out a frustrated string of expletives, before realizing there are things in the darkness that might hear him. Pulling himself out of the stream and into the passage, Leek squares away his rope and begins his climb.
As he is climbing, Leek suddenly hears the distant "ping ping" of picks hitting stone, followed by a brief sound of falling rock. The passage with the stream is suddenly filled with a mighty roar, as a huge surge of rushing water pours down from above! The remainder of the party, standing outside the cave, witnesses a huge wall of water gush out of the cave entrance. Kitryn, Katerielle and Erenaeth get thoroughly wet from the spray.
Leek is now standing on the ledge, partway up.
OOC: Do you continue your climb? What does the rest of the party do?
Sigh. I learned my lesson. I have to be slow and steady to be sneaky... But in my concentration of being soundless, I forgot I was supposed to, you know, hold on to shit...

OOC: Passive perception saves the day! :)
On top of the rickety bridge, there's a Goblin standing watch. It does not appear to notice Kitryn.
OOC: What do you want to do?
ooc Do we all Follow Kitryn?

OOC: family camping next week in Killbear. likely tech dark for whole week.
OOC: Enjoy your trip. I'll try to not kill your character. :)
I can climb, but I have no skill. What do I roll?

Well, I thought the plan was to sneak up and lower a rope for the others. If so, here are my rolls:
Sneak: 6
Athletics: 18
Sooooooo it seems I sacrificed stealth to make sure I got up that shaft.
ooc I'd like to stay behind and wait for instructions from the scout. Unless there are ways to help with a spell? (Have I rested enough yet from casting?)
I'm going to wait and make sure that mpeloquin is safely up the shaft.

I will keep climbing. If I have to reroll, here are the rolls (please ignore if I don't need to reroll my skills)
Sneak: 4
Climb: 3
