I suspect all are mimics. Do I touch another because I have high strength to break free or let someone else get stuck so I can crush it? Or do we take a short rest?
I moved and “suggested” a position for Gneuman. I will throw a hand axe at the remaining closed chest that is assumed to be a mimic until proven innocent.
Negative. It is a closed chest, just like the one that attacked us previously. If you would like to try to open it, I am sure you can awaken the mimic and get stuck to it.
My gut says it will not react until touched by a humanoid. I’ll try to open it when everyone is ready. I’ll be jumpy AF in the process, will roll whatever needed, athletics maybe, to jump out of the way if it comes to life.
Hoid moves up to open the chest, ready to flee like the Brave Sir Robin at the first sign of trouble. The latch opens easily and the lid raises to reveal a chest full of gold and silver coins.
Nested in the coins is a glittering diamond that is beautifully cut. It measures 2” in diameter.
That is a nice surprise. I was thinking 50/50 on another mimic or a chest full of broken potion vials with maybe a shattered fabrege egg thanks to the axe caution
The three remaining chests are about 100cm long x 25cm wide x 50cm tall in size (Standard chest size if not otherwise stated in the future). Coins are 20mm diameter x 2mm thick (Standard coin size if not otherwise stated in the future. A US Quarter-ish). Neatly stacked, they can hold 150,000 or so coins each. These are not neatly stacked, but a jumbled mess. So, Hoid figures it is....more damn gold and silver that he can expect to ever see again. Times 3.
The diamond is beautiful and perfectly cut. It is the kind of thing a king would desire for his crown or scepter.

Chadwick does not sense any evil using his Divine Sense ability.
( Be sure to check that as used on your character sheet )
So who brought the ten foot poking stick? Or maybe shoot them with arrows from afar?
I'm at full health and still have lay on hands, so I feel good about smashing these things so nobody else could get hurt.

18 to hit (13+5)
4 damage (1+3)
So the closed chest on the right had the mimic, correct?
The closed chest on the right was the mimic. Now, a pool of goo.
Hoid’s axe finds its mark and sticks in the wood of the closed chest on the left with a loud “thunk.”
Has anyone tried to unlock or open the chest Hoid is hacking to pieces?

You seem convinced by the axe that this thing is not alive, and, its just a chest.
How about we surround it, then all hit it at same time?

I'll move up so Chadwick and someone else can be in flanking positions (character moved on board)

The orphans will eat well tonight!

Where do s the booze?! Disappointed
Is the..
So, there you are. No Biff, so you know you are neither in Paris nor in the bar car.
I will pick up the diamond, ready to react to anything adverse. Assuming nothing is afoot at the Circle K, I will do a rough count of the coins.
