"Oh, thanks for the compliment, Fox, honey..." Duwamilly smiles at the captain "You must have been a real naughty boy when you were younger, right? I like difficult boys, they're the ones who give you the most satisfaction when they find their way! But, honestly, I don't know how 'competent' we are in matters of seamanship and navigation... I , personally, I will leave it to you and the crew!"
"I'm glad that you too, like me, aren't a guy who loves fighting... When violence is resorted to, it's a defeat for everyone..." the gnome cleric then tells him "You know the joke about the clothes of the captain?"
"A pirate captain stands on the bow of his ship..." the ex-Preceptor begins to tell "and he sees an enemy ship on the horizon.
He calls to his first mate 'Bring me my red shirt.'
A tremendous battle ensues in which the pirate captain is victorious.
His curious first mate asks him 'Captain, why did you wear your red shirt into battle?'
To which the captain responds 'Because that way if I were wounded the blood would not be noticeable and the men would fight on.'
The first mate was impressed, until the next day when the captain spotted ten enemy ships on the horizon and called to his first mate..." pause for effect "...'Bring me my brown pants.' "
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Yasmina seems pleased with the choice of captain and gives Captain Fox an appreciative smile. "I think us keeping to be your passengers will be best for everyone. I'm sure we are all ready for you to set sail but perhaps we can tempt you with a breakfast here at the mansion first, the food here is excellent." The red-haired Half-Elf says to Captain Fox, then smiling over at Sir Charles for his approval.
Persuasion: 12
Yasmina would then get her gear in her bedroom and be ready for departure for the Shaded Isle.
Delvindra will also need to go pack her gear. If any time remains, she'll also head out the gardens and meditate while performing her "slow katas" (essentially Tai Chi).
(Quickly cutting back to Milly's goodbye to Sir Charles because I just realized I forgot to address it)
Charlie smiles as he takes the music box.
"Well that is most kind of you my dear friend," he says, getting down on one knee to get on eye-level with her. "I will treasure it for the rest of my days, and I'll make sure the servants know that you and your friends are welcome at any time. I wish you all the best of luck in this mission... and the blessing of every god in the heavens above."
He gives her a friendly pat on the shoulder before Duwamilly returns to her companions.
(Back to the present)
The captain chuckles at Milly's slightly off-color joke.
"I can already tell that this will be anything but a dull trip," he tells her with a smile.
Sir Charles is more than happy to have Captain Fox join you for breakfast, and the Captain also gladly accepts the offer. After that, if there is nothing else anyone else needs to do in the city, your captain is ready to take you down to the docks where his ship, the Lady of the Sea, is anchored and the crew loading the last few crates of goods.
The red-haired Half-Elf savours one last meal at Sir Charles' mansion, enjoying all the sweet things served, trying to make sure the stoic Ilmateri acolyte too enjoys the apricot marmelade on a piece of freshly baked bread. As the group leaves the mansion she would again sincerely thank the nobleman for his hospitalty. It is with mixed emotions she boards the Lady of the Sea. She had always wanted to see new places, but the Shaded Isle was not what she would have chosen as destination unless her life depended on it. Once aboard she would ask for her cabin, at least hoping the ship would have that for her, to stove away her gear, before rejoining with the others on deck to watch Tormere disappear over the horizon.
Duwamilly is in good spirits both because Charlie liked her farewell gift and because, after what she discovered about Matic Akkron, she is increasingly convinced that he is a good and pleasant soul to meet, and because, after the kids told her about their curses, she feels their trust more, and because the captain of whom she had the best opinion was chosen.
The ex-Preceptor enjoys refined foods and drinks, without stopping to converse (and joke) except for what is strictly necessary to chew and swallow.
The gnome cleric boards the Lady of the Sea with enthusiasm, admiring with curiosity partly the crew's maneuvers and the technological solutions that allow the ship to sail... and partly, at the bow, the open sea, anxious to seeing the coasts of the mysterious Shaded Isle come into view. She inhales with pleasure the salty sea breeze that touches her face and caresses her brown-honey hair.
Delvindra, very receptive to Yasmina's suggestions, seems intent on trying everything available at breakfast, though only in small measured portions. Perhaps finally reaching something akin to a healthy balance between gluttony and extreme asceticism? Some of the more observant members may notice her tail curling around to disappear under the table...
Along with the others, Delvindra would offer her quietly spoken thanks to Sir Charles with a low bow.
Delvindra stays close to Yasmina as the board the ship, her body quivering with a combination of excitement and fear. She's never been on so much as a ferry barge before and now she's about to embark on the open seas...
"What are the, um, sleeping arrangements," she whispers awkwardly to Duwamilly.
"I...need to know where to put my things," she explains, holding up her backpack.
Duwamilly, intent on admiring the structure of the ship's sails, is caught off guard by the tiefling monk's whisper: "Oh, Delvindra, honey! I hadn't heard you approach! The sleeping arrangements, are you looking for? Do you know that I hadn't even thought about it yet? Come on," she is ready to get going anyway "let's go and ask Fox!"
The ex-Preceptor then gets information about it from the captain and, for good measure, accompanies the other to destination [[ OOC: @DM: Do we have single berths available? Or is there a common space with hammocks reserved for us? ]].
"Is this your first time on a ship, Delvindra, honey?" the gnome cleric then tries to make conversation "Or are you an expert? An 'old salt', as Fox would say?"
Ships aren’t a strong point for Wyvern (hehe). She will be leaning over the edge of the ship, contaminating the water with who knows what. If anyone is around, she will look up and ask, “Anyone have a bucket?”

"I have sometimes traveled by ship, Delvindra, honey," Duwamilly remembers "but only for short trips along the coast... You know, the ship is so much more comfortable and faster than horseback riding (or walking). But of navigation in the open sea, it's the first experience for me too!"
"Yes, they always sway like this..." confirms the ex-Preceptor "...or worse than this, when there is a storm! If that happens, trying doing your katas will be a real challenge!"
"Oh... if you really can't wait..." the gnome cleric has an idea "since I've never seen them... would you like to try showing them to me? Or are you afraid that my presence will distract you? And what are they for, anyway? Are they exercises to keep fit?"
"They're exercises to help strengthen and focus your mind and body. Fast katas involve a series of strikes, holds, and blocks for self-defense but I prefer the slow katas. They're exercises in self-control and body mind awareness."
She pauses in contemplation.
"Do you think something like that might help Cal?"
"Great idea, Delvindra, honey!" Duwamilly exclaims, excited "That's what I like about you kids! Young minds! New points of view! Creativity ready to blossom! We absolutely have to propose it to him! It might work! And if it didn't, what would we have to lose?"
"Shall we go look for him right now?" the ex-Preceptor is already about to go "As big as he is, it shouldn't be difficult to see him..."

(Along the same lines; we can RP the interaction with Cal, or not, based on personal preferences. If we do, Delvindra will probably need Milly to take the lead. If Cal accepts, Delvindra will be happy to teach him the slow katas and meditation techniques when she performs them each morning at dawn.)
While everyone else is really cautious of the rocking ship, Godrick skips towards the nose of the ship. Reaching the bow, he skitters along it towards the end, laying down, and pulling a straw hat onto his head from thin air. He then proceeds to straddle the bow, facing the rest of the ship, and starts playing soothing music.
"Riddle me this, riddle me that,
Cal's controlling, his rage like a Chad.
Duwamilly's excited as she always his,
While Wyvern is sobbing, releacing her food.
Delvindra's connecting the dots like a champ,
while Godrick just lies here......
not a care in the world!"
This general melody (whatever you imagine it to be) repeats in several verses, describing everything Godrick observes from the bow of the ship.

Unhappy that the market got rid of individual purchases for one-off subclasses, magic items, and monsters?
