OOC: I believe Vokrul was actually the first since he forgot to add his initiative bonus (unless it is 0), followed by you (Quorthon) and me as third, since this is a pbp I didn't care about posting order (I knew I only had morning and night to post)
OOC #2: and if the dm is using average health values the big boar and 1 of the small are toast
DM's note: Ok, I see what happened. I said Quorthon was next and for some reason Sklin'oth went and I didn't notice it was the wrong person. Sorry, all.
(Quorthon brings his sword down and stabs the Giant Boar in the brain! It lets out one final whimper before falling over, dead.)
(Vokrul takes a swing at one of the other boars, and also manages to fell the beast!)
There's only one injured boar left, Strum, it's your turn.
(The boar lets out one final squeal of pain as it crumples over, dead. The party stands in front of the defeated beast, having passed their first test unscathed.
It is about 11 pm and the night is pretty dark. Common sense tells you it might be a good idea to make camp and rest for the night, as your progress will probably be much slower as fatigue and the dark terrain settles in.)
DMs note: Great job on your first encounter. Feel free to rp, camp, maybe eat some bacon 🥓, set up watch, etc.
"Glad to see none of you were taken by surprise by those things" Vokrul says in a friendly tone "I will take a late watch if you all are ok with that, I can see in the dark like its daylight"
Vokrul proceeds to cut straight branch from a tree and use it to spit the larges pig.
Hearing Vokrul's request, Sklin'oth casts fireball on the some dead logs on the ground. *
"If you wish, the night is no stranger to me either, I may take the second watch"
Looking at the dead boars corpses and Vokrul's.
"Perfectly roast boar anyone?"
He says as he goes to cut a piece of boar using one of his daggers and uses his magical powers to pull a bit of flame arround it to get perfectly roasted, he offers to do this for anyone else who may wish it.
*OOC: seriously, create bonefire creates a 5ft bonefire, I could burn someone, but I think create bonefire if allowed to use in conjunction with control flames or simply cast it in a smaller area would be more logical.
Cleo gathers the nearest logs and sets them up to form a good base for the flame that Sklin'oth later ignites. Few things warmed her soul like a bonfire in the dark. She settled down and got comfortable, gladly accepting the tiefling's offer of perfectly roasted boar. That sounded like a perfect way to celebrate the first leg of their journey.
"If you don't mind, I'd greatly appreciate you roasting some more that I can pack and bring with us. If poor Bess hasn't been fed once we find her she could very well use the extra energy."
Quorthon graciously takes a piece of the boar. Unfortunately it is a little undercooked for his like. He puts the **** up into the air above his mouth and let’s out a gigantic roar as his Dragon Fire breath erupts from his mouth and roasts the boar leg.
“Perfect!” He chews on it, content and contemplative as the night falls. He pulls out his lute and starts to play a sad song of longing and loss.
(The party rests and enjoys their flame grilled meal of Boar meat. Taking turns on the watch and being generally helpful of one another, the night passes uneventfully.
In the morning, everyone awakens bright and early, refreshed and ready to continue their quest. They make their preparations for the day. You are all able to pick up the trail and continue following it without much trouble. The party keeps tracking the goblins for several hours, until they come very close to a clearing a little after noon. Quorthon, being a little more nimble than the rest of you, scouts ahead a little and comes back to report what he sees.)
(You're all still far enough away from the Goblins where you don't really need to be too stealthy. From the edge of the forest to the Goblins is about 150 feet. From that upper forest to the Goblins it's about 70 feet. I'll say you can get to the edge of the forest unnoticed without having to roll stealth, but if you want to sneak past the edge you're going to have to roll for stealth. )
DMs note: Sorry for borrowing one of your characters, it's just the fastest way to get to the more interesting point of the story. You all are where the word "Party" is on the drawing.
"I can probably hit them from within the forest, if we are able to finish them before we're noticed, we can probably go in without rising the alarm. If one of the goblins seems more alert we should finish it first."
Sklin'oth checks arround with the companions to see who else is able to hit from a distance.
"Is there any other strategy you folks would like to suggest?"
In an excited tone he adds "We've got a girl to save!"
Flames start out on his head but he attempts to cover them.
But then in a softer and woried tone "Or a body to carry... if goblins left any of it"
The flames slighly lower as he says this.
OOC: Flames, if it hasn't been noticed yet, come out of Sklin'oth's head when he's angry, excited, ready for battle or other high emotional times, their colour may show the feeling, those flames are non voluntary, being simply part of his demonic legancy. When creating the character I didn't think of this but it is now added into the sheet, and I think it adds a bit of personality to him.
"I can fight from a distance, but I'm afraid it's too far away for me if we stay here. I would suggest quietly making our way to the part of the forest that's closest to them, that way we can remain out of sight but still attack."
vokrol steps in and swings at one of the smaller boar
hit 11
damage 5
occ: I had intended to use the bardic inspiration on the damage, i will make sure its clearer next time
Vokrul Leadmane
vokrol uses his inspired state to increase his chance to hit 2

Quorthon - Dragonborn Bard
"I completely agree, cleo"
Saying this, Sklin'oth picks a few extra branches and places them arround the fire, in an area where the flames can barely reach.
"Place them here and I'll make sure they are cooked to perfection."
As soon as Cleo places the meat there, the falmes move arround the pices to cook it.
“The sooner we sleep the earlier we can leave on the morning. I suggest you all join me.”

Quorthon gives Cleo Bardic Inspiration.
“But if you do, I will gladly pick up the pieces.” He pulls out his trident and longsword.
Edit: If DM allows, can I get proficiency with my Trident since it is part of my background as a gladiator?

Sturm
"Guess we will then ambush them, keep quiet and let's go to the edge of the forest to attack"
Sklin'oth puts some cloth over his head to hide the flames.
