Theldrin keeps towards the middle of the group, following Coriana's lead. He keeps an eye out for any traps as the party approaches the gate, waiting to see if Coriana will hail any guards.
Khessa smiles calmly and confidently, letting Coriana act as ambassador. While trying not to show hostility, she pays close attention to any drow: what they look like, how they dress, how they usually behave, where they go...
The blonde arcane warrior is happy to help the party on the hunt and sticks to the agreed-upon plans... but she's already savoring the future pleasure of her own hunt, and thinks: 'Revenge is a dish best eaten cold'.
As you approach the gate, a gray, pudgy humanoid that has willowy limbs and flipper-like hands and feet bounds from the shadows, it's fishlike head sporting bulbous eyes. It carries a scepter and wears somewhat formal robes, and the smell of rotten fish hangs in the air around it. A Kuo-Toa, it screeches in Undercommon, "This gate is claimed by the Blueknight! Turn back now or face the wrath of the Inheritors!." Other Kuo-Toa step out front he gatehouse, reinforcing the first.
Coriana stops advancing and holds up a hand for the others to stop. "I'm afraid I don't speak fish-person," she says in common. "I do speak the language of the dwarves," she says in dwarvish, followed by "and the tongue of the goblins" in goblin.

A Kuo-Toa, it screeches in Undercommon, "This gate is claimed by the Blueknight! Turn back now or face the wrath of the Inheritors!." Other Kuo-Toa step out front he gatehouse, reinforcing the first.
Xanrym is able to translate from the back of the group: "They said that the 'Blue Knight' owns this gate and warned us to turn back or face the wrath of 'the Inheritors.' I guess that's one of the factions that Burthwol said were fighting for control of Pedestal." He tries to speak loudly enough for Coriana to hear him but not so loudly that his voice will carry to the Kuo-Toa at the gate. Stealth: 26 (rolled without advantage since it doesn't seem like his cloak would help with that)
Khessa, seeing how things are going, moves to Coriana's side.
The tall, statuesque blond arcane warrior, in her gleaming armor, looks as if she could use the large weapons she carries... if forced to. She hopes her presence will help Coriana impress the Inheritors...
The Inheritors look at Khessa and Coriana, as well as the others behind, and the priest hesitates for a moment. However, the other Kuo-Toa all pull their weapons as well, they are ready for a fight. The Kuo-Toa priest talks again, "Wh-wh-who are you that you would dare defy the will of the Blueknight!? What do you bring to this city other than your weapons and more violence? We have enough of that here"
The Kuo-Toa priest talks again, "Wh-wh-who are you that you would dare defy the will of the Blueknight!? What do you bring to this city other than your weapons and more violence? We have enough of that here"
Coriana turns to Xanrym to ask how to say, "We just seek passage through the gate and the territory you control."
(OOC: Assuming that it's still speaking in Undercommon...)
After Xanrym relays the Kuo-Toa priest's question and Coriana asks her question, he shrugs and explains apologetically, "The magic only helps me understand them, but I do not actually speak their language, and I do not yet have that power over the spoken word. Even if they do not speak Common, maybe one of them understands it well enough? Try speaking in short, simple phrases. If that doesn't work, they might recognize names. You could try mentioning Bruthwol or Es Sarch to see whether they recognize those names."
Of course, Xanrym realizes that that's a risk. It's possible that the Kuo-Toa recognize the names because those people are their enemies. Then again, if they don't understand Common, Coriana could act like another ally or foe, matching the reaction of the Kuo-Toa and aligning our group with them.
Coriana will drop the invisibility and lead the party to the gate, staying aware of trouble from pincer-wielding maniacs.

Theldrin stands by quietly, waiting to see what happens next and hoping to avoid a skirmish at the city gate.
