The front room of the inn with Khessa, Theldrin, and Coriana is well guarded, and you get a full night of rest pretty much uninterrupted. Apart from of course the drunk patrons exiting the inn and a few minor squabbles out on the steet.
Xanrym, Avery, and Syllen however get quite a show in the alley. The two groups line up on either side of the dark alley, and you see that one of the drow of House Dusklorn steps forward with her Shortsword drawn and says something snapping in Undercommon (not sure if any of you understand the language). The crazed derro leading the motley crew of monstrous humanoid Inheritors smiles at the challenge and motions for his group to part, revealing at the back of the laneway behind them a person dressed head to toe in blue plate armour. The knight steps forward, brandishing a two handed sword in its hands, and slowly advances toward the drow. The drow whisper in Undercommon, and their challenger flinches as the knight stands in front of her.
After a moment the drow nods in determination and rushes forward, landing a blow on the knight, causing them to stumble back and heavily fall against the wall, swinging their sword wildly. The fight goes on like this, with the drow keeping constant pressure on the knight who scrambles wildly, constantly on the back foot, almost uncomfortable in their armour and certainly not confidant with the sword. The drow shoots a wild smirk back at her crew as she goes to make the final blow into the knights plate helmet. But as she does so the knight flinches and falls back, the sword accidentally comes up at a weird angle, and the drow warrior is impaled on the sword. The alley falls silent for a moment as the drow’s last breath comes out in a wheeze.
Theldrin follows his usual routine, up early studying his spellbook. He sits crosslegged on his bed roll as the dim light of dawn creeps through the front window, Dusk in his lap.
Xanrym, Avery, and Syllen however get quite a show in the alley. Khessa also has her own morning routine, which consists of a combination of exercise alternating with reflection and study of her spellbook, whose cover is decorated with spiderweb patterns. Overall, her routine seems less organized and regular than Theldrin's, often incorporating improvised exercises, spontaneous ideas, or experiments with mixed tactics of steel and magic, but it is carried out with energy and enthusiasm!
Her bat-like familiar never takes his eyes off her, its small eyes seeming to follow her affectionately. "What do you say, Anator, am I improving?" the blond arcane warrior smiles at him, leaning closer and gently scratching his fur. "The drow will soon understand that there is a difference between oppressing defenseless people who have always cared only about cultivating the land and raising a loving family, and fighting those who have been forced to learn to defend themselves."
The tall adventuress kisses him into the safety of his pocket dimension, then dons the shining armor that, for most days, becomes like a second skin to her, slings the scabbards of her imposing weapons, including the new magical Greatsword she recently managed to purchase in the city of Grayhawk - and she's ready.
(OOC: @drumdigby - Are are rooms upstairs or on the ground floor? For example, what would it take to get through the window and over to the dead drow in the alley?)
(OOC: FYI - I'm happy to skip to morning if the intent was just to give us a tease of this strange Blue Knight, but it seemed like the DM was pausing here to let us do something before the Inheritors and Dusklorn disperse. If so, Xanrym may try to gather more information before he takes his Long Rest.
AFAICT, the altercation in the alley happened shortly after we went up to our rooms. If that's the case, then Syllen, Avery, and Xanrym would all be awake during the fight, and we could even call in the other 3 PCs from their room if there's anything more to see or do.)
Syllen does not feel the need to intervene with the fight so he will cast detect magic and watch the fight. Syllen hopes to gain a better understanding of both sides' strengths and weaknesses.
Perception Roll: 9
After the alley is quite Syllen will use his last spell slots to cast Goodberry.
Xanrym - the rooms are on the top floor. If you want to get to the drow quickly you’d need to roll a check to avoid damage from a fall. Being able to understand them, you notice that the drow at first seem scared of the Blueknight, who they call this figure. But when the Blueknight doesn’t immediately kill the drow warrior, they start jeering and mocking the Inheritors, saying their champion is failing. However, the death of the drow warrior shits then up, and the crazed derro hails the night of the Blueknight.

The first thing drumdigby said was we spent a full night in our rooms. That does not sound like he was leaving much room for getting involved with the altercation in the alley.

Once the drow falls, Xanrym whispers, "I'm going to try to get closer and maybe I'll overhear something useful. If I'm spotted, I'll try to sneak away [Tooltip Not Found] and get back into the inn. Maybe you could lower a rope for me? Or I'll just try to get around through the front door."
If we're just on the 2nd floor, Xanrym will just try to slip through the window and lower himself to the ground without making too much noise. If he makes it down without being noticed, he'll try to sneak slowly closer to the group, using any cover / shadows he can.
Xanrym is primarily interested in getting close enough to hear the Inheritors or to get a look at the Blueknight without their helmet. The Inheritors' champion fought very strangely, and the final blow that killed the Drow was either incredibly lucky or was somehow driven by magic.
