Khessa, Theldrin, Xanrym, and Syllen all take 3 Poison damage, while Avery and Coriana only take 1 Poison damage. You get the feeling if you stay here for another hour, you'll need to make another save.
Eventually the island's mushroom trees give way to a wide space that is roughly circular. Within this clearing, the blue haze hangs particularly thickly. Broad, tall stems covered with short, stiff bristles share the center of the clearing with tiny black mushrooms that sport red spots in the shape of little hands.
When he sees the clearing with the black mushrooms, Xanrymis excited. He's been trying to ignore the burning and choking sensation in his nose and throat, and he'll be happy to gather the mushrooms and get out of here.
Theldrin will quietly point out the strange rustling to the others.
Xanrym nods and is instantly wary. If the clearing isn't too large, Xanrym suggests to Coriana and Theldrin, "Maybe you could try gathering mushrooms from a distance with your Mage Hand." If something guards the clearing, then maybe it won't attack if they just take some mushrooms without actually entering the clearing. "Or, if that doesn't work, maybe just one of us could go gather mushrooms while the others get ready to attack anything that attacks." But he doesn't rush to volunteer.
If someone plans to enter the clearing to gather mushrooms, Xanrym will provide bardic inspiration to them.
In any case, before anyone sends a Mage Hand into the clearing or enters the clearing themselves, Xanrym will load his crossbow, hide among the bigger mushrooms around the clearing, and ready an attack with True Strike.
Bonus Action: Grant bardic inspiration to target . Once within the next 1 hour when the target fails a D20 Test, they can roll a 1d8 and add the number rolled to the d20, possibly turning failure into a success. Action: Hide - Stealth: 22 (advantage from Cloak of Elvenkind)
Then
Action: Ready the spell True Strike with Attack, Crossbow, Light (80/320): 21, Damage: 4 (piercing) + 7 (radiant) = 11 (total) Trigger: attacking anything that tries to attack the Company member(s) who enter the clearing

Theldrin nods in agreement, and reluctantly taking his eye off the rustling, he focuses on casting Mage Hand and will attempt to use it to gather some of the mushrooms.
The two mage hands go out and grab a couple of the mushrooms. However, before they can come back with them, the floor beneath them starts to snap and crackle like the clenching of great jaws. The fungi around the clearing starts to writhe together and culminates at two points next to the mushrooms. They take the form of two lumbering hulking purple mushroom beasts, who strike out at the mage hands. Violet Fungus Necrohulks Initiative:

Group 3: Avery, Khessa, Xanrym
Coriana, Syllen, and Theldrin are up. The Necrohulks are attacking your mage hands, Xanrym's bolt flies at hits one, the bolt sinking into the Necrohulk's twisting form.

After Xanrym fires his crossbow, he cautions the others, "Take care. Don't destroy the black mushrooms with the red spots!"
Theldrin directs his Mage Hand carrying its mushroom cargo, diagonally to the southwest.
Directing it somewhat away from and towards the side of the party, if the Necrohulks aren't overly tall he will also move the spectral hand upwards in the air to try to place it out of their reach. He then retreats as much as he can if possible, but focuses on keeping the hand within a 30 foot range as he watches to see if the Necrohulks chase after the hand or move in to attack the party.
(OOC: @Aaggie - Avery goes after the monsters in the initiative order, so he may have a target within reach by the time we get to his turn in round 1.)
Coriana's blasts hit, bit Syllen's attempts to entalge the creatures go awry as the mushrooms summoned from the ground just incorporate into the Necrohulk's bodies. Both Necrohulk's throws Spore Bombs at you all except Theldrin, the spores exploding in your general area.

[[ OOC: @All: If they do this again, we probably die — or at least lose; so let's try to kill at least one. ]]
The two nasty Spore Bombs irritate Khessa's skin and respiratory tract, but fortunately, her protective handkerchief and her formidable mettle allow her to resist—and fight back.
"Those who fight from a distance, scatter!" the blonde arcane warrior urges, while she grasps the rod that helps her channel arcane energy, assessing the devastating effects another combined attack like the one she just suffered could have on the party. And to set a good example, the tall adventuress directs a a crackling arc of electrical energy at the already wounded monster. "Let's keep moving and keep focused on our mission, but keep an eye out..." Theldrin nods, eyeing the rustling warily.
(OOC: Not remembering now, did we get Temp HP from Syllen today?)
(OOC: @JehanO - I may have missed it. Did Syllen use Inspiring Leader earlier this day? If so, how many THP should we have?)
