As you head north, you come to the tunnelled out section of the basement. This earthen tunnel has no stone shoring or supporting timbers. Consequently, much fresh dirt lies on the floor. Two sets of earthen stairways descend a total of 80' before the passage forks north-east and north-west. Here sits a squat, mushroom-shaped lump.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Theldrin looks at the mushroom-shaped lump ahead, still keeping some distance. He ponders if it looks at all familiar to him as something he might have read about or seen illustrations of, in his studies.

"We're not alone," Avery warns, "be on your guard. Something has been through here."
(OOC: If Avery and Theldrin are still trying to stay back from the mushroom, I'm not sure whether Xanrym is still on the stairs or just hanging out at the back of the line at the bottom of the stairs.)
Xanrym is still worried about being surrounded by foes in these narrow tunnels. He looks back the way that they came and listens for anything approaching. (Perception9) After descending so far underground, he wonders whether he'd even be able to hear the bell ring if someone came through that door.
While Avery and Theldrin investigate the way ahead, Xanrym sets his lantern down on the floor, loads a bolt into his crossbow, and gets ready to fire it in case anything jumps out an attacks Avery.
As you move closer to the disturbance on the ground, you move into the Shrieker's area of effect. The holes on the side of the monster open up, and it begins to emit the loudest shriek any of you have ever heard, audible up to 300ft. You can hardly hear anything else.
Theldrin motions for the party to fall back the way they came, then covers his ears as he moves. When he can be heard by the others, he says grimly, "Well whatever is around, it now surely knows we're here..."
You can barely hear it, but the sound of footsteps and hissing is coming down both tunnels, from behind the Shrieker. You have about a round before these things arrive.

(OOC: How far did the party fall back? That is, have we ascended the stairs yet? Or is there enough tunnel between the bottom of the stairs and the shrieker for the party to fall back without ending up on the stairs?)
Xanrym gets ready to attack with his crossbow, saying, "Something's coming. Get ready!"
Movement: Falling back with the party, staying at the "back" of the line, farthest from the Shrieker Action: ready Attack, Crossbow, Light (80/320): 18, Damage: 10 Condition: If he sees a troglodyte or any sort of serpentine creature come into the light from the two tunnels, he fires his crossbow at it. Bonus Action: None (IIRC, Avery still has bardic inspiration unless it has already been > 10 minutes since the ettin fight) Free Action: Talking, setting down his lantern to free up both hands for his crossbow
as he sees a troglodyte or anything serpentine enter the light
I’d say it has been over 10 minutes since the Ettin fight. There was the acolytes body as well as the debate around the treasure chest, so that would have taken I reckon 30 minutes to an hour
With the shape of these tunnels, it's going to be tricky to operate exactly as you've described. At the back of the party, Xanrym will be unable to see the Troglodytes as they come scraping and slurping out of both tunnels behind the Shrieker, death in their eyes. Theldrin can absolutely try to hit the closest Troglodyte with Fire Bolt , but It will have 1/2 cover due to the tunnel blocking your view, go ahead and roll that attack along with your first action in Initiative. Liarin can absolutely throw off the Create Bonfire though. It's in the map as a red circle. I'll roll initiative for you all now:
Group 1: Avery
Group 2: Trogs
Group 3: Liarin, Theldrin, Xanrym
Avery is up, four troglodytes running at you from the tunnels behind the shrieker.
You can barely hear it, but the sound of footsteps and hissing is coming down both tunnels, from behind the Shrieker. You have about a round before these things arrive.

Xanrym - You successfully rig the bell apparatus.

Nature: 15
(OOC: LOL go Theldrin! Some great rolls lately)
It seems like just a mushroom. Larger than usual, but nothing wierd.
As there is dirt here, Avery will look for tracks, or indications of recent activity through this entrance (Perception: 6 Investigation: 15)
There doesn’t seem to be any clear tracks here. Although the dirt is disturbed on the ground, so someone or something may have been through here.
"We're not alone," Avery warns, "be on your guard. Something has been through here." He'll look closer to determine how old is the disturbance by feeling it. Perception: 21 Investigation: 15

Avery gets into position with his great sword at the ready, getting close to the wall to open the space to not block anyone's field of fire or attack.
Liarin casts create bonfire 10 ft in front of Avery.
